We are planning our first trip to Bonaire. We are looking for a quiet laid back location where snorkeling is good from the beach. We are not looking for anything fancy - just clean and quiet. Would the Divi fit the bill? What are the mosquitos like on Bonaire ? All comments and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Cathy

There's a nice long thread further down on the Divi -- here are our comments -- we could not have been happier. Lots of folks like to rent a vehicle, but we just spent our time in the water right at the Divi (diving, snorkeling, and swimming). Didn't see one mosquito when we were there. It's close to town -- 10 minute walk to restaurants, shops, etc. Enjoy!

We stayed there last September -- our first trip to Bonaire. The Divi was just nothing short of excellent. We stayed in a room right on the water -- second floor. We could look from our balcony right down into the water. And what a wonderful view from the patio!! The room had two double beds, good a.c., decent sized bathroom. It's not the "Hilton", or whatever, but more than exceeded our expectations. We room was kept clean, we had fresh towels (when requested), etc.

The dive operation is "tops", as previously said. And the entire staff, from check-in to servers, to gardeners and everybody in-between could not have been more friendly and helpful.

Hope this helps.

Bon Bini(welcome) Cathy !Being a timeshare owner there Divi has my vote. Besides what Walt just said, the properties are newly redecorated.(last 2yrs) It's a casual laid back attitude, easy-to-be is their motto. It has 2 pools, 2 resturants, a small shop and a beach, dive shop and a tanning dock with lots of fishes and critters around. It's a great place to night snorkel too. I love the walk into town along the waterfront at night. It's not fancy just comfortable and clean and right on the water.Take a look at the thread on Divi and come see for yourself.Bring bug spray, you'll need it when you are out of the wind ,especially on your legs at night in most resturants.

Cathy, Loraine and I just spent 9 days at Divi and we both loved it. We just checked out yesterday and got home late last night. Snorkeling is good (we dove, but a lot of snorkelers)and very easy. You can go from the beach or one of the 3 docks. Rooms on the water are nice, be sure and ask for a fridge.
I f you would like any other specifics, just ask.

We are also Divi fans. The dive operation is super. The dock is wide and solid. They lock the storage barn at 10pm so there's no need to fret about theft. We didn't rent a vehicLe this last time, just did the 3 boat dives a day plan, marvelous! Easy walk to town or up to the Plaza for a break. It's right around the corner from the Carib Inn if you need some equipment tuned up or buy some new stuff. Richards Restarant is up the street. The breakfast option is really wonderful..It's all good.

Randy, did your wife use the hair dryer? :-) Just remembering that long thread about whether or not hair dryers are necessary in Bonaire!

As a matter of fact we both used the hair dryer!Could you believe all the fuss over the question I asked for her? While I appreciate the advice, I was only asking a yes or no question.
