I did a search both current and in the archives here and could only find two people that said they have stayed at the Lagoen Hill Bungalows. I just made the flight reservations for our upcoming trip in April and I am scouting places to stay. The place seems to have a lot going for it. Yes I know that it is out of town but really, how far away is ANYTHING on this island...

My questions.
-Is the dive operation just a room with tanks in it, or does it have some kind of wash tanks, equipment storage, etc.
-I like the idea of a pool, is it nice
-How are the kitchens in the units, I cook lots during my stays
-How are the folks that run it
-Finally, just how far IS it to Town??

Thanks to all of you as always for the great help everyone here provides.

David

If you don't decide on Lagoen Hill, you might want to consider my personal favorite: Bonaire Town Homes. Not on the water, but only about a mile from the center of town (a lot closer than Lagoen Hill). No pool, but great owners, great rates and nice, clean, comfortable new surroundings. If you want more info, let me know, or do a search, or look at their webpage on www.infobonaire.com/accommodations/budget, or email them at info@bonairetownhomes.com.

We'll be back with them for the fourth stay for a month in Feb. Wouldn't consider anyplace else.

Josie,
I have looked at BTH also, and they look very nice. I stayed with Aqua Viva last time I was on the island. It was fine, but there was no outdoor space to hang out after diving or whatever. You were either in the apt. or out. It looks like at least some of the townhomes have a patio or something. Hanging outside of course assumes that the winds won't be 50 mph like they were the last time I was on the island!

Thanks for the note

David

David, at BTH there's an outside wash-off and hanging area at both units. Also very private and sheltered from the wind. There are also nice outside sitting and eating areas (with hammocks too).

Josie,
Who did you dive with? It would be great if there was a dive operation near by to pick up tanks and go. It is the great thing about Bonaire, schedule free diving.

It's pretty close to (have to drive though) Carib Inn, Divi and Plaza and Photo Tours. I believe they have an arrangement with PhotoTours that they'll give their guests a 10% discount, but I'm not sure what that covered. I finished my OW cert. with BonBini, which is about a five minute drive away. I very much liked BonBini, but also was impressed with how much time the lady at PhotoTours spent with me when I wandered in looking for a special mouthpiece. She went through a whole load of catalogs to see if she could locate a source for me.
