Thinking about first trip to Bonaire in July.Am thinking about staying at Plaza however have read some recent comments that seem negative. Looking for feedback from visitors within the past 3 months that may have stayed at the Plaza.

Four of us stayed at the Plaza the last two weeks in January. It is a nice, big, clean resort. The staff are nice and helpful. The beach and pool are also nice and kept clean. The restaurants on the beach have good food and again the staff are nice. The rooms are huge and we had a nice view from our room. The airport noise was not a problem.

Our room was not very soundproof and we got some noise from the neighbors, had to call the front desk one night. They took care of the problem. We experienced this in an upstairs unit but our friends in a downstairs unit did not have this problem. Also, I would skip the breakfast buffet, but we liked the other restaurants on property.

Also, the casino is closed.

We have stayed at the Plaza on our last two visits and have been very happy there. We stay in the Grand Suites, second floor and have a beautiful view of the ocean and downtown area. I would agree that you can skip the buffet breakfast but do try the other two restaurants on the resort. They are excellent, especially the Tipsy Seagull for dinner. Make a reservation and enjoy a table right beside the ocean. If you do stay at the Plaza you may want to pack some wash clothes as they only supply disposable ones and also if you are a coffee drinker, they only supply a hot pot and instant coffee. I took a french press pot along this year and it worked out great. Good luck in making your decision. You will love Bonaire. The island is very friendly and you will feel safe to go anywhere. There are some wonderful restaurants and very reasonably priced.
Cindy

We thought the most negative aspect of the Plaza is that there are no real non-smoking rooms. When we requested a non-smoking room, the response was "If you don't smoke in the room it will be a non-smoking room."
