Can anybody please give me some feedback about the 2 bedroom apartments at Aqua Viva Apartments? What did you like the most, and what did you hate the most?

Tracey, Do a keyword search at the bottom of this page and search for "viva" you will get some information.

Tracey, another option is Diver's Paradise and Dive Inn. They are in the same price range as the ones you are looking for I believe. Diver's Paradise is directly across from the cams. I stayed there a couple of nights last July, and they were clean, well stocked, full kitchen, cable TV and AC in the bedroom. Dive Inn is down by the Divi and is right across from the beach. Several folks from the board have stayed there and like it as well.

Good luck making your choices!

Tracey,

we stayed in one of the 2-bedroom apts (No. 8 to be exact) for 3 weeks over Christmas and New Year. They are roomy but very "basic" accomodation. You´ll find two decent enough beds in the sleeping room, but the matresses are not very clean. The airco works all right. The bathroom is small but adequate. The kitchen is rather basic too (gas stove, sink, fridge). Don´t expect to find more than 3 plates of each type, 4 glasses, 1 battered pan, 3 battered pots of various sizes, 1 or 2 knifes, non of these items were very clean when we came. In the large "living room" you´ll have a TV set, a small glass table, 3 chairs, 1 couch, 1 couch table. That´s about it. Entrance to the apt is through a glass sliding door. Most apts have a curtain on the inside - ours didn´t (and no complaints to management could change that). The walls are quite dirty. If you look at the 360° view on Aqua Viva´s homepage - that´s rather euphemistic compared to the real thing. Cleaning service is good.

Make sure you bring written proof of all your reservation correspondence - in our case there were "computer problems" and I would have paid quite a lot more than was originally agreed on had I not been able to show Aqua Viva management copies of their own emails/faxes. And if you intend to reserve a rental car - double check everything with the rental agency.

And NEVER leave anything on the front porch unless you keep an eye on it. Thiefs tend to come even while the owner tends the bushes around the property with his sons and their friends.

Should you go during the rainy season count on meeting MANY mosquitoes (the salina next to the property seems to be a good breeding place).

We enjoyed the proximity of Eden Beach (you´re allowed to set foot on Eden Beach), Bongo´s Beach Bar and Wannadive, a dive shop we can greatly recommend.

If you have more questions I´d be glad to help.

During the rainy season the apartments and surrounding area smell very badly--someone else mentioned the salina next door where the mosquitoes breed. I'd suggest you consider another site during the rainy season unless you don't mind a terrible stench. In that price range is also Tropicana Apartments.
