I am staying at the Durgon Inn in February, but I would like to spend a little time on a beach. I understand the Plaza and the Divi have the best beaches on the island, but are they accessible to those not staying at those resorts? I was thinking of having lunch at one or both and snorkeling and swimming while I am there. Is there a usage fee, or do they prohibit non-guests from using their facilities?
Any other beach suggestions?

We stayed at Divi and there were plenty of people at the beach, and who's to know where they came from? The back gate is always open for coming and going. I don't know, however, what Divi's "rules" are regarding non-guest beach-goers.

The use of the beach at the Plaza is free. What you do have to pay for is the use of the lounge chairs. During the day, there is a public entrance that is open where the road makes a sharp left hand turn before you get to the Plaza driveway.

I'm pretty sure it's the same at Divi; you have access to the beach, but have to pay a fee to use a beach chair.

Divi doesn't seem to "mind" folks in their waters or on their beach, but they do ask that non-registered" folks NOT use the beach or tanning pier or dive dock chairs, etc. Only fair....have fun! Both of these beaches have great snorkeling spots. You will love it. Carole

Oh, Chibi Chibi at the Divi is great for lunch, too. There is a breakfast earlier in the morning at their other eating facility, as well. Enjoy! Carole

Thanks for the info. When we went to the Cayman Islands two years ago we got chased off a hotel beach, they apparently guard their properties pretty closely there. It sounds a little more casual in Bonaire. Looking forward to February.
