Hi!
We are going to Divi Flamingo for the first time on August 21-30. We have never been to Bonaire before and are very excited. I have seen a lot of your posts saying to call Divi Flamingo ahead of time to reserve a room. What room do you recommend? We have an ocean front hotel room.

Thanks for your help!

You want to have copies of your reservations with confirmation numbers with you. And you should email Divi several days before you leave at divibon@bonairelive.com , telling them your dates of arrival and departure, the confirmation number(s), that you have an ocean front room, and if you want to reserve a fridge for your room.

The ocean front rooms are all together and I don't believe there is much difference in any of the rooms.

The Divi Flamingo staff is very nice and helpful, but sometimes they don't get information from the US office.

We had the ocean front room very close to the Chibi Chibi restaurant. They are nice in the morning looking out over the water and sitting on the veranda in the afternoon day dreaming. I actually started to write this with the point being how often do you spend in the room to make worth the extra cost. But the more I think about it, the ocean front rooms are AWESOME! Keep it! I wanna go BACK!

My BSA Venture crew was there 26 Jul-2Aug. We were split. Some of us were on the timeshare side (un-renovated on the town side of the Casino Pool) and the rest were in the first building to the left of the lobby (oceanside). The staff was nice, but sort of unresponsive. Maintenance complaints were not handled in a timely manner and don't expect to get clean beach towels every day. You have to leave a card (that they give you at check in) at the desk for the towels. The food at Chibi-Chibi is good, but some of the portions are small (Don't get the Filet it's miniscule)
Island Atmosphere, Expect SLOoow service at any of the restaurants. The Rib place is extremely slow.
If you want an OUTSTANDING Steak go to Casablanca. Pasta plate is huge and so is the sirloin. (Exit the front of hotel, turn left and walk about 6 blocks) It's safe to walk in town except for some of the wild drivers.
The Dive Operation is First Rate and more than makes up for the so-so attitude of the desk staff. Sign up for Pepe & George for your boat crew.

We spent 10 days at the Divi last month and had a great time. We too had an ocean front room, but we didn't really spend much time in there - only to sleep and wash up.

I also saw some of the un-renovated time share/studio units, and although they had a small kitchen and were a little larger, the ocean view's bathroom we had seemed much cleaner/newer. The un-renovated studio we saw seemed a little musty.

Like the previous poster indicated, all the ocean front rooms are next to each other. We had one on the second floor that had a vaulted ceiling and a balcony. The ones on the lower level also had balconies. Facing the ocean was nice enough I suppose, however, we didn't spend any time on our balcony. We got up early every morning to go diving, and got back to our room in time to go to bed. Air conditioning was must; although the temps were comfortable, it was still fairly humid. The rooms are nothing special...a bed, a night stand, a color TV, three drawers for storage and a tiny closet; typical of US motels. The bathroom did have a hair dryer and a tub, though.

The dive operation was great.
