I will be staying at the Harbour Village the first week of September. Any information on the resort is greatly appreciated. I have a few questions. Is the pool a good distance from the rental units? Is it really a reasonable walk into town from the hotel? Do the rental car companies drop off / pick up at the hotel or do I have to go to the airport for a car? Are there many restaurants close to the hotel and if so any recommendations for breakfast? Thanks again for the help.

Bob

Welcome to Bonaire Talk Bob. I have heard some excellent things about the lost penguin for breakfast. They have a web site that you can check with the full menu and prices.

Bob, AB Carrental will pick you up at Harbour Village without extra charge. Talk to one of the girls at the frontdesk, they can arrange everything for you.

As will a number of the other car rental companies - Bonaire is a pretty small island after all :-)

My wife and I stayed at Harbour Village 5 times between 1997 and 2001 but have stayed elsewhere since HV remodelled and priced themselves out of our desired range. We loved it every time we were there.

It is an easy and lovely walk of about 1 mile from HV into town along the sea wall/sea road. Ever since Bonaire added the lighted/bricked walkway (in about 1999) along the sea, the only portion that is not as nice is the section between HV and the sea walk (perhaps a quarter mile). Walk takes about 15 - 20 minutes and we did it every night for dinner. Alternative is to take a taxi (about $8 US each way), but not really necessary.

Re their size, I view them as an intimate resort where nothing is very far from anything else within the resort - typically no more than 2 - 3 minutes stroll. Not sure which units they are calling rental these days. Used to be the hotel portion closer to the beach and the condos closer to the road. Longest walk anywhere is at most 200 yards.

Also see the various postings later in "Accomodations" section re Harbour Village shore diving.
