My wife and I will be in Bonaire for the New Year and can't wait to get in the water! Are there any events or celebrations going on for New Year's Eve? Where's the place to be? Thanks!

That party at "Dock of the Bay" that Linda posted looks like it has some fun potential. The buffet looks great, and they are going to have a DJ until 2 AM. Although I leave the next morning, Jan.1, I don't mind being hung over on a jet. Wish I could do Jakes at 3 PM that day. When you guys see the AJ flight take off at 3:30, please shed a tear for me.

Will wave sparkler good bye Jim.

Need any extra special BBQ sauce from state side Jake?
Will mind BBQer as needed. Professional Georgia Boy cooker minder...my personal cooker is on wheels, has brake lights and a tag and tows behind my truck...I can cook for 50 people...but you should see my dad's...he can cook for a hundred :)

Wally,

Whatever you want to bring would be great and a BBQ minder is just what we need! :-) We will keep you well stocked with beer or other libations, as you desire!

Eva will make her seven layer salad....I can't really describe it but it is really fab.

I'll bring my apron and BBQ mop...wish I could bring some of my cooking woods. I like to build a bed of coals from dry pecan and red oak...and finish cooking off of hickory and bay. I like to fell and cut my finish woods about 10 days before the cooking day for the right smoking moisture content.

Will definately cook all day for beer...and will bring my own...just need the venue (leaving better half to socialize...she is so much more delightful then me)

What meats are we cooking (butts, hams, ribs), cooker type (open, smoker, grill), local woods?

Will begin planning now...may as well...can't concentrate on work.

:-)

I have a Weber gas grill and will be preparing chicken (legs/thighs), pork loin ribs, and probably a beef tenderloin of some sort for the grill.

I do have a smoker (electric heating element) if you're feeling itchy to play with something more challenging than a gas grill. I have a variety of wood chips available (all imported, since availability of decent smoking woods on island is a little limited).

Beer is our treat though. Can't let a BBQ master bring his own!

Will begin studing this arrangement.

I built my first smoker out of an old refrigerator.

It actually worked pretty good...country boy inguinty(sic)

May sneek some hickory chips into my luggage

So while I'm fighting the throngs and hordes at Montego Bay, you guys will be firing up ribs? Come on, you could have at least said you were cooking on a hibachi. LOL

Jake, I'm pretty sure I'll be coming to the BBQ on the 1st. Visiting from Denver area. What can I bring that's easy. Maybe something I can get at the grocery. Like cookies or chips or something? -Jeff

Wally - yes - we have a meat thermometer.

Jeff - we'll be supplying meat and beverages, and probably rice, along with basic condiments, utensils and a nice sunset. The rest is up to everyone attending. Cookies and chips both are welcome additions!

Jake
