Good morning all! I hope you all have a good day, hell, I hope we all have a GREAT day. Smile if it feels good, try to smile if you don't feel good, don't force it, but if you smile enough, maybe just maybe it will make it's way into your heart.

No bullfeathers, has not been a good week and a half, latest is my brother Al going in for minor, outpatient surgery on Friday, he is in I.C.U. because each time they have tried to wake him up, he has gone into crises. On the upside, I was able to spend time with him Sunday and yesterday afternoon and yesterday afternoon he was again breathing, on his own, with no assistance. When we talked last Thursday night and he was fasting. He was joking and said that when he woke up from the surgery he wanted a salad, a baked potato and a huuuuuge steak (bloody) waiting for him.

Add to the mix, yesterday in I.C.U. waiting area, was our old friend/neighbor Herb, his wife Sandy was in I.C.U. also, was doing well after minor surgery for a couple of days then turned very bad and had not had brain activity for two days. Herb and his children were facing the hardest task ever in telling the doctors they were ready for the doctors to follow Sandy's directive

Trying to think positive, keep the faith and not get sucked down by stinking thinking (negative focus). Hard at times, you folks know what I mean, I am sure. Have tried the spiritual path and pray, can't connect this week, have tried listening to inspirational music, has made me want to puke, meditating - too much noise to attain any semblance of calm. I know this too will pass, just have had too much ••••, too close together.

I know I need to be grateful because, I am lucky to have a great lady at my side, we are going through a lot of this together. Also lucky for special friends.

At times like this, when I tell myself not to believe in anything, I need to shut it down. So, just for today, as needed, I AM going to turn that thought off, stand in a defensive stance, raise the fists and while smiling - scream "BRING IT ON MOTHER******, YOU CAN'T WIN!!!"

I know there are others here going through the same type of •••• which is the ONLY reason I shared this today. F'ing demons!!!
Together we will not be broken, we will be VICTORIOUS!!!

Morning Jim, Sorry I couldn't participate in yesterdays fun for very long. That four letter word (work) kept me far too busy.

I am falling apart here. My weekend fun at the pool is killing the tendons in my hips. That's the last time I try getting up and over shallow platforms in the pools with 50lbs of gear on and no fins. Getting old sucks....but I sure had fun while in the pools.

I have to do something very sad today. As you might remember, my son Tim's best Marine Corps friend was Killed In Action (KIA) in the beginning of November. Tim had 8 days left in Afghanistan when James was killed. A friend of mine makes beautiful plaques in Tennessee. We had this made for James' widow, who lives in North Carolina. I am mailing this today from Tim to her. The two ribbons symbolize a purple heart, which you get if you are wounded or killed. The other ribbon is the OEF ribbon, or Operation Enduring Freedom, that all Afghanistan Marines or Navy personnel receive. Please keep James and all our troops who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in your hearts. Semper Fidelis James.

Nothing happening here. I have about a month's worth of junk mail to shred. If it has our name on it, it gets chopped up!

I finished the front garden yesterday. New annuals, a new shepard's hook and hanging plants. It felt good to get out and dig in the dirt! There's still lots to do in the back, but at least from the curb, I can pretend I have it it all under control!

Nice chicken...Our teacher asked us what our favorite animal was, and I said, "Friedchicken." She said I wasn't funny, but she couldn't have been right, because everyoneelse in the class laughed. My parents told me to always be truthful and honest, and I am. Fried chickenis my favorite animal. I told my dad what happened, and he said my teacherwas probably a member of PETA. He said they love animals very much. I do, too. Especially chicken, pork and beef. Anyway, my teacher sent me tothe principal's office. I told him what happened, and he laughed, too. Thenhe told me not to do it again.The next day in class my teacher asked me what my favorite live animal was. I told her it was chicken. She asked me why, just like she'd asked the otherchildren. So I told her it was because you could make them into fried chicken. She sent me back to the principal's office again. He laughed, and told menot to do it again. I don't understand. My parents taught me to be honest,but my teacher doesn't like it when I am. Today, my teacher asked us to tell her what famous person we admire most. I told her, "Colonel Sanders."Guess where I am now...
