Good Morning - Rise and Shine gdam

And today is Birth of the Sun Day
birthsun

The Incas always celebrated the Birth Of The Sun on September 20th. The sun is the largest object in our solar system and is about 4.6 billion years old. Cultures that practiced sun worship down through history were usually agrarian societies. When men became farmers, they were dependent on daily and seasonal changes in the weather. sunThe sun was the great force that regulated these changes — the light and heat they needed for their crops.

Wonder what time the sun will birth itself on Bonaire today? I'll see if I can capture it.

I guess to some extent here on this site we workship the sun sunsrisein that we post piccies of it in the morning, the jewels jeweles it creates in the afternoon, and definitely of the stunning sunsets we get, and, of course, greenflashthe famous green flash.

Good Morning Eileen. What time is where you are? It is almost 11am here in the UK. We are 5 hours after Bonaire Time.

Wizard of Oz eh? oz

I've just wizarded my posters all done. Now I have to stick that transparent stuff in the corners and along the edges to strenghthen them and also to stop the corners getting ripped when taking them off and on walls. Boring job!!!

You are doing so well, Eileen, with your learning to dive. I am quite envious. diver

Jenni, it is the same time here in Ontario as it is in Bonaire until Daylight Savings time when we be one hour behind.

Diving is not as easy at it looks to start! But we are getting there and pretty soon it will be a piece of cake! I have met some great people already too.

I can not believe that it is Autumn soon!

So you are up early then, Eileen. Or is that a usual time for Canadians to get up? It would be considered 'early' here. Well, by me anyway.

I know we already are noticing the difference in light both in the mornings - got to put the light on to get dressed, lightonand in the evenings - got to put the car lights on much earlier, and last night when I brought in the washing from the line, the automatic lights come on, cos it thought it was dark!!!!

We in the north of England have hardly had any sunshine this summer, sun and I wearily go into Autumn not feeling refreshed this year as I usually do. Buying the flats and moving offices I know didn;t help. housecry

Happy birthday Mr. Sun!! Only 4.6 billion years old and still on fire!

Time for what goes around comes around and for us industrialized countries to start worshipping the sun again and get more of our energy from "solar" sources.

No sun here today. More much needed rain last night and cloudy-steamy this morning.

Nice fish poses this morning. Maybe they are auditioning?

Have a nice Friday,

Bill

Maria,
I know this might sound a little harsh. But I have to do this to my dog. Hold his mouth open and put the tablet way way back in his throat and then hold his mouth closed and then rub his neck downward. It works for me. The vet told me to do it this way.

Hi Ida and Bill.
Ida. I was going to do that as a last resort, but luckily with a bit of persuading she did take it wrapped in a bit of ham.( but these tablets are so big,) ive had to cut them up. but in the past Ive just put a bit of butter on the tablet and no problem. Its so much easier when they co-operate.

Cynde, great pictures. You could make them bigger, my poor old eyes could barely see them. D2D does not have the 50k file size limitation, so you could post bigger pictures.

I voluntered today for a California trip we'll see if it happens. If it does I'm sure I can swing a weekend, it'll be tough getting the 7mm in the luggage but it's doable. Dive the kelp beds would be so kewl, I could check out your babies.

cecil, let me know, that would be great! we have another bt left coast boat dive going for oct 5th, also, give me a heads up and we could have a special bt bbq... to date, we have 47 new kelp plants at the planting site that have survived the uruchins, and the storm waves from the last couple of weeks!!!!

glenn, i think i asked michael about a zillion times "did i tell you how much i love my new fins?" did you get the one's you were thinking of getting? if not, seriously consider the apollo pro splits...

Hi everyone, back home at last after boring work.

Nice pictures Cynde, but can I ask a silly question. What are the rusty chains for? Annie B.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Glenn Fager on Friday, September 20, 2002 - 6:56 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

Hi Cynde, I went with the Scuba Pro Twin Jets. Hard to decide between the two since the reviews were neck and neck for both fins. I liked the fact that the Twin Jets were positively bouyant-in case a fin slipped off in a mucky lake (a dive buddy of mine lost a fin that way) they'd be easier to find on the surface. I'll let you know what I think of them after I submerge next time. Have a great weekend!

annie b...no such thing as a dumb question, only an interest for more knowledge! ha! walt (who runs a tech dive operation on bonaire) has been posting deep dive (300 ft plus) pics on the anchors at red slave, and chains of red slave, etc. i took this pic just for him to show him that we have rusty chains out west too! i also put this pic under diving bonaire (i know jake, broke the rule, sorry:) so that i could try to bribe him into posting more cool pics from the bowels of bonaire:) worked too:)
