Fight Procrastination Day (Do it Now!)

birthday Nah, I'm worry about that tomorrow! Today we party!

Happy Birthday to Cynde Lee, Cecil and Peter Rabbit!

Story was written by Beatrix Potter. She sent it in a get-well letter to 5-year-old Noel Moore, 1893.

We can see the cam buoy today:

crown Glenn, that's what Jake called it, too - I just can't find a picture in Humann's book that looks like that with a stripe thru the eye and we see her all the time! That's a pretty close-up. I usedta call it the translucent fish. LOL

dunno Annie, I can't seem to get the Flamers to respond with a non-animated text right now. Their generator must be down or something. Weird.

That's what I was thinking Rusty. The body is definitely coney, but I hadn't seen them in different phases yet. Can you tell what phase that is?

Um, the light phase? LOL Humann says Bicolor Variation (upper dark, lower pale). Finally a picture that looks like the cam pic!

chinese Catch us all some great pix, Glenn and company!

chinese Hi guys! Just got home. Had a luscious shrimps in garlic sauce and flied lice for runch. Then stopped and bought a ton of fruit and veggies at the market. It's a Spanish market and lots of the foods are alien - like who eats squid packed in ink? Printers?

My Dad and I stood there looking at these two foot long aloe vera leaves. I'm not sure if you are supposed to eat them or fence with them. So we fenced! En garde!

banana And there were these itty-bitty little bananas no longer than my little finger. I swear they were too young to be away from their mama!

In one corner they sell MSG in 5 gallon buckets! They also carry *ethnic* foods like Polish Ogorkis and Italian Gardiniera. So we got some of those, too.

Felt like I was at Epcot Center. LOL

You deserve it, Glenn - awesome fishy and such brilliant colors.

You know - we have SO many good pix now of the local denizens of the deep - we should help Jake and Linda make a fish guide to species seen on the cam. I know when I first came here a year ago I must have looked at the *best of* page with the squids and the tangs and the divers a dozen or more times. Couldn't get over all the good pictures!

Hiya Everyone wave
I just got back from working - planning meeting all afternoon for a course I am running this weekend, and then seeing clients, and then running the group. First time in the larger group room!! And it was fine. Yes, the room is not finished, and it lacks something - at the moment. And I'll get it right before long. I'm sure I will.

Tomorrow I am going to open the last 10 days post and look at the photos I collected last Thursday of my grandchildren and I. And do some work too, on the course.

hi Hi Annie! We stole your Annie sig with the sunflowers today at my Dad's. He has a dear sister-in-law named Annie and we wanted to send it along to her. Sure it made her day!

sun He and I are both sunflower fans, he grows them every year and then I bring some of the heads home to dry for our cockatiels and parakeets. We put the whole big heads, one at a time, into the aviary and all the birds pick at them for days.

Rusty, You are most welcome. I quite like sunflowers too. I grew some once and fed the seeds to my Senegal parrot that I used to have. He loved them. If the truth is known, you will probably see some gifs being posted in the future that I have stolen myself. Some of them maybe yours. Annie B.

Rusty, just curious -- is the Hu Ke Lau that you're talking about in Pittsfield? If so, it's the same restaurant that Dan's father calls the "Hu Ke Lousy"! :) I've never eaten there, but nobody in Dan's family will go there, based on how bad it used to be when he was a kid...

Jenni, I like this word "mithering"! I'm having to hunt for a meaning for it, though -- the Merriam-Webster online dictionary didn't recognize it! It's obviously a perfectly good word, though, given how many hits I'm finding on Yahoo for it. I especially like the recipe for the drink, the "Mithering B*stard"! According to SotallyTober.com (love that site name), the recipe for one of these is 1 1/2 ounces of blended Scotch, 1 ounce dry vermouth, 1 ounce orange juice. Shake with ice, serve on the rocks. So thanks, I've learned a new word! :)

Faith

comedy Hi Faith! I don't know if the Pittsfield Hu Ke Lau is associated with the two local ones - we have one in Chicopee and one in Longmeadow. Do you know if the the *lousy* one has comedy shows on the weekends with some national *talent* coming by for shows? I've never seen one, but there are always lots of people waiting in line for a table on Saturday night.

book I, too, thought *mithering* a wonderful word. Just to the right of dithering ang blithering!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Faith M. Senie on Thursday, September 5, 2002 - 7:13 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

Rusty, I don't know if the Pittsfield one does comedy -- it's been a bit too long since I've even been by there. And according to Jenni, mithering has a long 'i' at the beginning -- MYthering! So I guess I was dithering and blithering when I thought it would rhyme with those two... :)
