Hi BT. Haven't really been posting here. I have been dealing with a lot of things, mostly good btw, but some are very hard to deal with. One, being my dad is starting with dementia. It is very hard to watch this happening with a loved one. It is also very hard to deal with what the future holds for my parents and to guide them to some new ways of living with dementia. Being far away doesn't help either.

I am blessed to have them both in my life even with dementia robbing me of the dad I have known all my life. Please treasure every minute with your loved ones. Dementia stinks!

On a lighter note, we watched a really funny movie over the Holidays. If you have not yet seen "Grown Ups", rent it and I guarantee you will be busting up laughing the whole time. Laughter is the best for what ails ya and this movie delivered it.

Debs, I am very fortunate to still have my mom. Her mind is like a computer, although her eyesight, with the macular, is just about gone. It is very sad. Kathi's dad, my buddy, is failing on his mind as well. It is very tough to watch such viable people go down this slope. As always, we shall all be here for you during these most troubling times.

That is just another aspect of CC, which we sometimes forget. God knows, you have all been here for me during some bad times. I shall ALWAYS be here for you.

Good morning everyone!
Debbie, sorry to hear, both my parents are gone now, my mom was sharp as a tack until the day she passed but dad slipped into this world where he became angry, hurtful and mean. It was heartbreaking but we some how managed to get through it. I wish you strength to get through this along with the wonderful memories of days gone by.
Eileen, have a wonderful week and you are one amazing mom!
BH, HELLO!!!
Mischa - (you will forever be that name in my mind! ;) ) Hope all is well in Texas!
Cecil :)
Jim....nothing but love dude

Morning BT
Debbie I'm sorry to hear about your dad. That's a journey that Guy & I won't have to go on but only because we haven't had the blessing of a good parental relationship. Big hugs to you.

Jim, awesome video thank you!

Eileen what will you do with an empty house?? All three at school?

BH hope things calm down for you a bit for 2011.

I've got to rise above this dang cold crud and get a lot done today.

On to Lurking Mode!

We are heading to LaGuardia airport to drop Deb. That went way too fast.

Debbie, hugs to you. Not an easy thing. We are watching my ex-father-in-law go downhill very quickly with alzheimers. We are still close and it is pretty heartbreaking. Today he couldn't understand why his shoes wouldn't go on. He was trying to put them on over his slippers. My ex-mil was teary-eyed when I picked up girls this morning.

Eileen, you and Joel are doing great. One day at a time. Quinn is so blessed to have you as his parents.

Hugs to everyone.

Lurk.

Greetings from Lurkdom, guys. I'm finishing my invoices and running out the door. More good wishes from me, Debbie...Eric's mom went down that path, and it was hard to take, although she was such a dear, that what we got to keep of her was all sweetness. BIG encouragement to Eileen & Joel for the path you're on.

Jerry, and big punch in the arm for you....

Eileen, know you have two pretty good resources right here on BT. My daughter Megan is a special ed. teacher who specializes in autism, PDD, and Aspergers. Kate is a pediatric diagnostic doctor. Anytime you have questions, concerns, or just want to talk to someone, I could give you both of their email addresses. As moms, besides their specialties, I know they would be there for you.

Nice to see lots of posts today! And thanks for the hugs too. :) Gotta love them hugs.

My dad has just started with dementia, my next task will be getting him to not drive which will put them in a rather awkward position as my mom doesn't drive and with her tremors, she surely can't start now. Am looking into transportation for them, hoping their area has something for seniors needing to get to the store, church and hairdresser and barber, that kinda thing. I'm a little over 2 hours away, so can't do it for them.

Eileen, you and Joel are doing a wonderful job of raising all your kidlets. Thanks for sharing them with us here on BT.

Hey Tara, hey Tara, feel better! I think my hubby caught your cold, I am staying far away from all his germies. Washing hands a lot more now that it is flu/cold season.

I just want to thank-you for all your support!!! It was one of those mornings - yes I am human - what happened was Quinn was getting upset that his chocolate milk wasn't looking as chocolately as normal (used 2% milk not skim... it makes a difference :) ). He wasn't happy... And it went downhill - for people like us, we deal with it, to someone on the spectrum, the world has ended. Sadly, Quinn has becoming aggressive when something is out of whack. Thank-fully we are in the program and soon, though slowly we will see changes! Normally I am calm, but in my mind today I was very frustrated at such a simple thing.

All is well now, and has been. The kidlets are playing their Wii - Quinn directing of course :).

At lunch though, Quinn was trying to figure out and was asking me questions on why people fight. Doesn't understand why. Pretty amazing kidlet! I could go on about the remediation program - but, that will take many threads :), it was developed in the US!

Jim - thank-you! Everyone thank-you!

PS - that is a great motto :).

Debbie, Boom, and many others - Hugs and XO!!

Before I forget - I am thankful that otherwise, all our 3 are very healthy, how fortunate we are and how Quinn is teaching me/us to be even more tolerent of others and situations. And patience!

:)

What? No posts today from Jerry? What's up with that?

Jim awesome picture. The McPeak family is growing by leaps and bounds!

Tonight after dinner, I am going to let my son drive me to get his hair cut. First time he will be driving one of our cars since he got his permit and finished driving school. Eileen, send me some of that patience, will ya? Till next November when he turns 17, he has to have a licensed driver in car while driving, after that he can drive himself.

Tom, Benny is now on his own, as long as you pay his way....:)

It was nice to see Cynde back:) Damn, I sure miss her.

Thank you Debbie for taking note.

BT-2 is coming together bit by bit. Freddie, Roy, and Martin are making sure all of you will enjoy the new and improved BT2. I spent a few hours there today. It's going to be a pleasant site to be part of.

Home from dropping Deb at the airport. Made a stop at Ikea, much to Ken's joy :D

We were on our way to Ikea and were stopped at a red light, waiting to turn when we saw these people waving like crazy. We thought they were waving at one of the other stopped cars, because who do we know up in Nassau County?! Well, I looked closer and it was Katie and Kimi who had missed their exit and were making a u-turn. Guess where they were going? Ikea! Lol! It was pretty funny. We went to the cafe and enjoyed a late lunch together.

Now we are home watching Hellboy and relaxing :)

Hugs to all.

Tomorrow is my first CPR class of the year. Hope the squad is on their best behavior for the instructor! ;)

Jim your kids are all outstanding... I couldn't shake the thought (not being a parent myself) of how it must feel to see your babies having babies.... definitely a measure of time passing.

Cecil that looked too friggin cold, fun but cold. Thank you to your nephew and prayers that he comes home soon and safely.

I'm heading off to bed early ~ really sick of this dang cold!

Ahhh New England. I looked on the map. It must be pretty close to Northfield, where my Uncle Ed and Aunt Doris used to live. Spent a lot of time up there in the 70's skiing. Many many good times. Looks like a great campus and school. I hope Ben is very successful there.
