All you east coasters stay safe this week/end. I'm hoping for Earl takes a hard right and dies at sea. Time will tell.

Down here on the west coast of Florida we are on the dry side of Earl. Humidity was low yesterday and today, but it's coming back over the weekend.

Let's all hope it pushes real far east. When I had my boat in Sommers Point, NJ, I went trough one hurricane. Even with triple ropes, springlines, etc. we still had some damage. Many people in the marina forgot to take down their bimini tops, etc. They were gone. Hurricanes suck.

Moving from tornado alley to Florida in 1989 I've seen plenty of hurricane action. Mostly the outskirts of them, which enough for me. But in 2004 I was actually scared by Charley. Terry had to be at work and if things got bad he had to stay there. So I was home alone with the cat, and he was not help.

Thank goodness Charley turned east about 100 miles south of us, but those poor people in the Punta Gorda area were devastated.

Tie everything down and go to a safe place.

I think Chris is doing what I used to do at my Grandfather's Birthday Celebration, make sure that Grampa didn't spit on the cake when blowing out the candles. Lot's of perfectly good cakes used to get ruined by Grampa, probably should have told the others why I was passing on the cake but,

Hi everyone.. LONG day here.. had to be the chef this morning and then ready our little cafe and surrounding areas for the storm surge that may or may not come tomorrow...... we are about 200ft from the ocean dunes and they are weak..... I may be cooking on ocean front property after tomorrow so all the outdoor chairs and tables are stowed and everything is off the floor and up about a foot....we are READY!! food goes in the main cooler tomorrow incase the electric goes out....{just what I need on a holiday weekend, having to find our food in three BIG walk in coolers} then as if my back didn't hurt enough. I went down to our neighbors and packed up a couple of rooms for a move..HOW NICE>>>>>>>> came home and took 3 count em 3 advils...........back is coming to life again I think.... Hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for any wind or seas that might threaten them..... Please try to keep in contact with us. even if you have to text a cali girl to let us know you are alright.....

I was trying to decide whether or not to pack my bathing suit, for the MM, and now that I see the pool is clean AND there's a trampoline we can spring board off of it's SO packed

The pool was drained because of "Where life started".

But, we do have a beach, and 10 min's away another beach with waves.

I just got off the phone with my cousin in Corrolla Beach on the Outter Banks. She said it was a little windy with a pretty hard rain this morning and the roads are under water but nothing to make them leave. But then they have owned their home there for 30 years and have been through blows a few times. ;-)

They live up the beach 6 miles. The only way to get to their home is by driving on the beach.
