Have my coffee in hand at the dispatch desk.

Have to blow steam for a second...

My partner called in sick this morning. No big deal as there were still 2 of us on the desk. Turns out the other dispatcher (who is assistant chief disapatcher) took 1/2 a vacation day which means during the main part of the day, I will be sitting at the desk by myself for 4 hours. That's all well and good for a dayshift in January, but NOT IN JULY!!!! Honestly! Yesterday at 1pm all heck broke loose. We had 14 calls in our last 2 hours and they weren't just run of the mill calls. Accidents with injuries, 2 minor ambulance calls, and a CPR drowning which required a ton of attention. So if that all happens today, there will only be one person to handle it. Not saying it will happen, but in this job you never know what is coming next. Like as I'm typing this, there is an accident with injury into a tree...subject is being medivaced. These are the things that happen at a drop of a hat...


Okay...rant off and back to your regularly scheduled programming...

Ken and I are heading up to take his mom to dinner tonight. She is 92 years old today Happy Birthday Mom!

Just checking back in Holle and Ivy have moved into 'it's too hot' mode!! trip outside is about a minute at the longest!! Get it done, and get back inside to the AC vents!!!
They have each picked a vent for themselves, although at times, Ivy will pretend to be cuddling with Holle, and snuggle in front of her right on top of the vent!!!

Ruth - if the day gets hectic, get a Sergeant to get a uniform in to help you. Just make sure it's one with brains, not just looks!!! And BIG Happy Birthday Wishes to Ken's Mom!!

I just got a email from HomeCheepo. I had ordered a gas grill back in May, out of stock, then it was discontinued.....LALALA

Because I wanted 5 burners with a side burner, and a searing side bar, all I could find was grills in the 1K+ range.

I prefer to use wood, but in the summer it gets so damn hot.

Well, it looks like I have been blessed by the Grill Gods at Home Cheepo

Not only is the grill back, but it's on sale.

It just hit 99 in Andover MA

Morning, guys. Not so hot here...a comfortable 70something. I'm trying to convince myself that I'm actually going to work today. Eric and I are both spoiled from staying up late, reading, then sleeping in, as people without children are allowed to do. Anybody reading the Lisbeth Salandar trilogy? I just finished the third. I caught Eric up trying to finish the first one at 5am Saturday morning...

I know that feeling, Jerry, go book a room at a hotel for the night that has a/c, worth every penny. Hope the power goes back on soon.

Lost our power for 4 days a few weeks back, temps were in the high 80's part of the time, then high 90's the latter part, we did get a generator which saved our food and got the water pump running, plus a few fans, it was the longest we ever had power out, we all slept downstairs where it was cooler, not much, but I swear, next time that happens, it's a hotel for sure. This heat wave is worse than back then, keep cool and get Louise over to the store or somewhere that has a/c.

I wish we'd get a smidgeon of your heat.... it's foggy and chilly here. It's supposed to warm up to the high 70's/low 80's next week though and we all know that hot, dry fire season will get here sooner or later.

Sweet deal on the grill Jerry. My Beer-Butt Chicken came out awesome last night - 3 hours on a low grill with jalepenos stuffed in the neck, a tecate up the other end, and basted with a mayonaisse/vinegar mixture that I had made up for pork chops a few days ago. Tonight I will make a chicken enchilada for dinner Wed or Thurs.

Thank you for all the wishes for Rasta... at Xmas this past year 2 other friends and I realized that we all were in the same boat with our 14/15 year old dogs. Last night one friend had to let their Tucker pass over the bridge. He was such a wonderful HUGE black lab and will be missed. The hardest part of loving....

Time for me to get my booty into the shop (okay, so I'm an hour and a half late but who's counting). Hoping for a BIG dollar day for me and EVERYONE!!!!

Time for the pool water therapy in about a half hour, we are currently at 102!!!! And yeah, that's in the shade here too. Hottest day of the year.

Heck, with the warm spring and really hot start of summer, strawberries here are a month early, my Rose of Sharons (flowering shrubs) are starting to bloom already too and that is a month early. Last year, everything was over a month late, very odd.
