Well it is Monday and Good Morning to all our BT friends, Prayers and good wishes for all and I hope everyone has a quiet day.

Memorial Day:

It is difficult for many of us to express the emotions that are attached to this day. Those who have served during times of war are always have a special attachment to this day. I am not good at expressing my emotions in a public forum but received this from a Marine who I served with in Viet Nam it is well written and I want to share it with my friends. Interestingly, we served in Mike 3/1 and that is the unit that Jim's son is presently serving with.

How is it possible that we as a nation pick just one day to say thank you to all those men and women who gave their most precious gift to keep us and our country safe and free? It wasn’t just their lives that they gave but much, much more

They gave up the love and tenderness of the people who cared so deeply for them.

They gave up being able to walk the floor with a sick baby.

They gave up holding the hand of a frightened child on that first day of school.

They gave up the pride of watching a son or daughter graduate and seeing their child in love walking down the aisle toward a new life with another parent’s child.

They gave up grandbabies and little hands that grasp knees and won’t let go.

They gave up an entire lifetime of memories a lifetime that we have to enjoy because of them.

So how can I possibly say thank you in just one day?

By being the best person that I can and be and remembering them and the sacrifices they and their families made for me.

Rest in peace, warriors and I will say thank you today, tomorrow and every day for the rest of my life.

Brian Snooks Strasser,

M Company 3rd battalion 1st Marines RVN 67-68

There were 206 members from Mike 3/1 who gave the ultimate in Viet Nam.

Lastly, today is my Ruth Elizabeth's Birthday and she knows how much I care for her.

May she have a wonderful day and many more. I love you. :) :) :) :)

Ruthster, I may not be around much on your birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY now, girlfriend!

Memorial Day always makes me think of November 11th, Armistice Day. At the end of WWI, it was created to celebrate the end of the war to end all wars.

Were that it were so...

Happy Memorial Day to everyone! We did the all American thing yesterday and went to a baseball game, it was fun! SF Giants won in the 10th inning so it was pretty exciting. We sat 5 rows from 3rd base so we got a birds eye view of the players...;)

Hopefully today will be relaxing and soaking in some of the nice warm sun I have been so eagerly awaiting!

Bill, how'd you like Bartok? Are you singing the song??? LOL

Morning Everyone :)

I just got back from the cemetery for the Memorial Day ceremony... it was nice that there were more people there than last year - even though our local news didn't even promote it.
ceremony
The Jr. Sea Cadets and Color Guard did a fine job
color guard
Then down by my shop the volunteers from Veterans For Peace set up 3,000 crosses (the city won't give them more beach) to honor each of the fallen from the Iraq/Afghanistan wars. They set this up every Sunday - I've helped to set it up/take down before and let me tell you it is back breaking work and most of these volunteers are older. Amazing people, through and through
Arlington West

Now time to honor those sacrifices by enjoying the rest of the day :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUTHIE!!!!!!
I have no doubt that you will have a GREAT day --- how could you not? Great husband, beautiful family, wonderful home.... oh and Puppy Breath!!!!

Memorial Day in the US! Never forget... Thoughts to those who have fought, have a loved one who made the ultimate sacrifice and those who have loves ones currently serving.

Ms Kedron had her thumbs fixed up this morning!! All went well and she was a fiesty one! She put on a protest upon awakening and ripped off her bandages... All was fine :). She is now enjoying being waited on :). Life us good LOL! Glad she can use her thumblets again!!

Evening BT!
STurtle Bill, great to hear Ivy's ears are doing what they are supposed to do - without help now. :)

Elaine, nice to see you today.

RA, hope you enjoyed the BBall game and your time out of doors in the sunshine.

Bill, What were you up to today? :) And thanks on the pictures.

Boom, great photos of a wonderful ceremony.

Eileen, Congratulations on Kedron's thumb. Bet you're glad that's over and she's on the mend.

Jerry, isn't the smoke from your smoker? :)

I spent the afternoon training a new diver on tending and spotting. Our diver in the water is a retired gentleman and an amputee - left leg. This big fellow must have gills. His bottom time was 2hrs and 15 minutes. I know it's only 14 feet deep, but you are working hard when your down there, so I would think he'd use Some air. He had 600 psi left to boot.

Good evening BT:)

Got lots done today, and had some fun time as well. Linda, we are being smoked out. White / gray skys and it smells like a trash bin on fire.

Vis is about 1/2 mile, wind will be shifting soon as the tide is about to change:)

One funny thing, no birds! No gulls flying, nothing.....very quiet.

Had a very nice relaxing day at home with Ken, the kids, grandtwins and L'il Red :)

Ken made breakfast for me this morning, then Lobster Crepes for lunch with a finish of a decadent chocolate torte with candles on it :) Wowwee!!! Talk about yummy! Then after I got to work (yes, I'm at work on my b-day...) Sarah brought in a birthday cake :) Ken is bringing dinner in a bit. He didn't tell me what...

Okay...I just returned from the cemetery, we attended a memorial service for the daughter of our friends whom passed away 5 years ago. They are Israeli and have a Hebrew service every year. But the point I was going to make is that there were literally hundreds of people (we do live in a city of a million plus people but I was still amazed)celebrating all the veterans buried there! They had flags and wreaths and banners all set up, picnic blankets, food, drinks, it was like a party! I thought it was an outstanding display of support for those who have served and lost their lives for this country. A very "family" like atmosphere. I have never seen anything like this!

RA, thanks for sharing your afternoon with us. How humbling to have that many people there for the service.

Thanks Freddie, I'll give it another shot later after closing down FB. :):) You're quite the computer expert. :)

Bill, I've been wondering where you two would finally purchase. I would think it would have to be the total opposite of where you are now, but in the states or Canada. Let us know when the deed is done. Some of us may be in the area.

Ruth, birthday girl. What a yummy sounding birthday breakfast and lunch. I'm with Bill on this. Stay at home and take a long nap with the pup. :)

Okay time for a little dinner.

We're already North and East, so thinking South and East. Don't much fancy the US VI, too much hassle and the "crim" word. So keeping it within the 50 states not territories. Weird one popped up in Waikiki tho'.

Linda! Is your plumaria potted or in the ground? I loved those trees when we lived in Hawaii, and would love to have one here too. They make great lei's!

I lost my Hawaiian Ti plants due to our cold winter, and would love to put some tropical plants back in! Of course, it'll mean more covering due to the cold months here later on.

Hello BT :)
Linda we almost bought a plumeria last weekend but cheeped out when we saw the price tag... they are special treats! Love the color of yours.
Gail, I brought the ginger growing in our yard back from Kauai (gosh it's been 7 years now!). I think another trip is in order to get some new plants.
RA, they said on the news that it was the largest attendance at the Lompoc ceremony in 10 years. There were definitely more at ours than in years past. I go not only to honor those fallen but also the amazing elderly Veterans in attendance... they make my heart swell with pride as they struggle to move with their walkers and wheel chairs. America's Treasure.

It's been a lovely day here. I cancelled plans to go out with friends though to stay home with Rasta. She didn't do well on our walk this morning at all, she's slept most of the day but seems to be walking better (with extra meds).
I'm not complaining mind you.... it was outstanding weather and there's no place like home!

Happy Belated Birthday Julia. I hope you had a grand one. :)

Gail, the plumaria is in the ground. I have several in yellow, white and pink. Although I had to cut about 85% of my biggest plant off due to cold weather killing most of it.

Tara, I wish I could send you a stock of one of mine. Maybe I will. All you have to do is cut off a piece and stick it in the ground. PM me with your address.

Bill, good luck in house hunting. How about Florida? ;)

That's it for tonight. See you all in the morning.

End of a long weekend at sea and fortunately a fairly safe one. Guess all the nuts were out in easthampton with Ruthie. Happy birthday to LilReds mom and many more.

Havn't caught up on all the chatter but i'm sure jerry must have at least one BM due him in the past three days. I'm sure bill could use one too.

No duct tape tonight both of us turning in early. Hugs and kisses to all. nite nite.

"NEVER FORGET"
