Good morning all!

I'm heading home in just a few to hit the hay. Been a long, boring night here at work. But that means nobody was being bad or getting drunk or sick, so that is a plus

We had a very enjoyable evening with some friends of mine from high school. A friend that I graduated with is a firefighter in Gainesville, FL. He was diagnosed with cancer a while back and his FD is getting together with Sag Harbor FD for a benefit basketball game tomorrow and then a spaghetti dinner in the evening. Our local paper did a nice article on Tommy. We had about 40 people that got together last night at a local restaurant and met some of Tommy's FL fire department friends and his adorable little girls. It will be a good day tomorrow.

Hugs to all! Off to home to take care of the kitty-cat and then take some nyquil myself. Trying to get rid of this darn cold!

Rufus, funny you mentioned Sag Harbor. I am reading a book right now by Nelson DeMille, and a good part of the story takes place in Sag Harbor. Actually, many of his books take place at spots on Longd Island.

Good Morning to you my friend, and all who follow. I am getting my shot in my back at 1:00. It gives me a good three months of relief from this stenosis. I'm a happy guy.

I will be spending a good part of the weekend getting ready to go to California. In about a week, I will get to meet the mysterious and shy women of the Bay Area, CB and RA. I found a special restaurant I am taking them to for lunch called Nopalito. It was rated by Esquire Magazine as one of the top new restaurants in the United States. My daughter and granddaughter will be joining us as well. Maybe Kate will have her nanny watch Amelia that day, so she can get an afternoon out by herself. She works very hard and long hours at UCSF Hospital and I know she is looking forward to this week to hang with her crazy old man.

I know Jerry. We east coasters have to be careful how we talk to them. I took a sensitivity course at the local community college last week in preparation for the trip. I am just hoping that being around Marines, the first week, at Camp Pendleton will not set me back.

I am especially worried about CB, as she seems to just "Yes" whatever anyone says. RA, on the other hand, seems to just avoid any kind of confrontation and seems very timid. I understand her showing her tattoo, along with her stiletto heels was a huge step in overcoming this shyness. I only hope my daughter Kate can get them to talk at lunch. She is also very shy and timid, but she has made great strides in being more sociable after moving away from me.

Ruth, thank you for sharing tommys story..brought tears and also brought back memories of a good hs friend we lost to C 9 years ago... He was 44...over 2000 people came to his life celebration..and he inspired so many folks with his courage...

Boom, I'm shaking my thang with joy that is FRIDAY!

Today was the end of our 50/50 raffle for our Relay for Life team. One lucky person now has an extra $101. Now she's dancing that happy dance.

I got a call @ lunch from my dive lead at CMA. I get to try for another catch dive tomorrow morning if Winter does not want to cooperate. She will probably be a good girl.

Jim, I'll try to be assertive when we meet, but it is hard for me to express my opinions. Sometimes RosAnne and I try to go out for lunch, but we just sit in the car in front of the restaurant, too timid to go in, then we go home. It's so sad. I'll try to be brave.

By the way, I have a bud on her way to Afghanistan. She's my ex's wife, was active in the Army for some years, then went in to to the reserves. Got called up for the first Gulf war, back to reserve, then tried to retire out. Guess what? She got stop lossed, figured she might as well take a commission, and is in whatever the predeployment readiness training is now. She's medical, so she just got her wings for helicopter flight training. She goes over in June.

She has given me the assignment of keeping track of her husband while she's gone....life is funny. When they got married, she told me that in their prenup, in the event they divorce, she gets custody of me....

Jim, what did you do? Can you smell it? It's sweet.

I made it dead. I'm so proud.

But I have hung my chicken foot and am resurrecting it!

Having a thyroid US on Monday...have a "lump" on one side...already had a lobectomy due to cysts about 4 years ago...all was benign then...here we go again....
