goodmorning.

I have to say , I hardly ever get cards. I am also HORRIBLE to put ANYTHING into the mail. That includes bills! I do everything online.

With that said, this has been the COOLEST week!
I just love the cards. If you are doing online ones that is great too, but there is just something to be said about opening that envelope and seeing someone's personality POP out! I love them all, thank you all so much!
PS..yours is SOOO adorable!
You guys are THE best!

i

Annemarie leaves tomorrow for Denver.
Why doesn't this ever get easier?

Have a great day everyone!

Tomorrow we have our annual go to see "It's A Wonderful Life" at this old 30's style movie theater. It is actually the oldest movie theater in the United States.
http://www.newtowntheatre.com/

After that, we all go to Isaac Newton's Pub, our local slopchute, have some libations, then move to Ron and Mariann's house, and trim their tree, while continuing the libations. It's a great day in a Wonderful Life.

My car didn't even warm up before I made it to work this morning! It is COLD...brrrrrrrrrr

Good morning Freddie and Eileen!

I am lurking from the dispatch desk til 3:15 then heading home for a full weekend off...YAY!!!! I think we are going to try to finish our shopping tonight since tomorrow afternoon and Sunday will be full of S**W according to the forecast. As much as I don't want snow until I'm ready for it (ie...after I'm done with all my Christmas runing around), it will be beautiful!

Tomorrow is the anniversary of my parents being given a second chance at life. There was a huge snowstorm that day as well. My dad had a doctor's appointment in Riverhead and they were heading home in their Toyota Prius. As they made their way on the north road, the car hit a rut and made a 90 degree turn north into the oncoming lane of traffic where a Clare Rose truck was. (The irony of this is that it was carrying beer and my parents do NOT drink at all!!!) The truck hit mom's side of the car. She had to be cut out of the car. Dad was taken to the hospital before mom and they found 3 brain bleeds so he was transferred to Stony Brook University. Mom seemed to be ok other than a separated shoulder that would need surgery at a later date. She wasn't ok...when they got ready to release her, she sat up and her BP bottomed out...they had missed the lacerated spleen. So she too was transferred to Stony Brook University. They both amazingly were discharged on Dec 23rd and we had a very blessed Chrismas day. They have had a rough year with physical therapy and doctor's visits, but they both are back to normal today and for that I am thankful. I am counting my blessings today as I think back to a year ago...

Sorry for the long-winded story, but I just had to share. I wasn't here a year ago, but I know that if I had been, you all would have been right there holding me up. I can't tell you how much each and everyone of you has come to mean to me over the past 11 months. I am a lucky woman to have been blessed with your presence in my life...

Hugs Kristi...It doesn't get easier even when the ex lives in the same town! He is moving into his new home this weekend and the kids all want to sleep over his house on Christmas Eve...he has them Christmas Eve this year, but that means they are home Christmas morning at my house. I'm biting my tongue like crazy trying to not say anything nasty. This is the one part of Christmas I do not enjoy...

Ruth, I'm so glad that your parents are ok and here to celebrate their 2nd chance Anniversary. WHat a story!!

And, I agree with Ruth about it not being easier to have the ex close. For the last 2 years, Olivia has been here during the day on Christmas eve, but then her dad comes and gets her. So, she opens her presents alone before she leaves. Then Christmas morning, it's just Kayla and Rafe. It just does not feel right. And it is NOT fair!!! She's working on him to let her stay the nite this year. I just give up. He's too hard to talk to, for me anyway.

Wow, that is a story for the archives of BT. You do have a lot to be thankful about this Christmas, especially the importance of family. Those great doctors at Stony Brook, definitely saved the day. I feel the same way about the people I have been in contact with on this wonderful forum. We all share that incredible love of life, and cherish the good things about it. Carpe Diem my friends. You never know.

I am very excited about seeing my baby boy on Tuesday. He is flying in at 2:00 PM from San Diego. This will be a very melancholy Christmas for me, as I know where he is going soon. I am going to spend a lot of time with him, just having fun. Ryan, the G-Man, will be in on Wednesday. He is flying up from Orlando. Of course, my sweetheart Megan is always here, and I thank God for that. Unfortunately, Kate, Chris, and Amelia Bedelia will not be coming home, but that is why God invented Skype. OK, there seems to be some dust in this room, as my eyes are watering.

Morning All!

Yup, sn#w is in the forecast here, just heard a foot of the darn carp! My daughter will be grounded from using my car tomorrow, I don't care where she thinks she has to go. Officially calling Saturday, Family Day and we all got to be inside warm and toasty till it's over. I may even break out the Christmas cookies for all to start enjoying and put on some Christmas tunes, then when they can't stand to hear one more song, they will be happy to clean their rooms! (Will let ya know how that works out.)

Ran to the store, got all I need till Monday now so I can bake, cook and whatnot while the weather outside can do whatever it wants.

Tiff's Marine boyfriend, Nick is arriving home for the holidays today, so my car will be awal all day. Made me get a move on early before she got up to gas it up and get to the store before she takes it over.

Kristi and Ruth, HUGS to you both. Ruthie, it takes a bigger person to NOT say anything and you are such a wonderful Mom, you will do great!

Yes, we all really have a lot to be thankful for, thanks for sharing and reminding us of that. With all the hustle and bustle this time of year, it is often forgotten. Material things can be lost, stolen or nice to have, but family is what is most important and I too, am very blessed to have them all with me this holiday. Means more to me than any gift.

Jim, Skype is a wonderful thing, hope you got a webcam on that baby! That is how my daughter and Nick kept in touch while he was in Japan for a year and they each had a webcam to see each other when they talked.

I will find out what division he is in when I see the young lad and what plans there are for his deployment. I think this has changed somewhat, dates are up in the air or something like that? He will be joining us at my oldest son's house for Christmas Eve dinner this year.

GOOD MORNING, BT!!!!

O M G.......we are getting ready to get hit with the biggest snow storm we have seen in 9 years.
15-20". Can you say holy !!??? :-)

I have already been to the store at 7 AM this morning and thankfully found 2 shovels; one extra for the house and one for an employee. Also grabbed a few things to eat should we never get out again! LOL!

Rob's taking the day off. He is doing some last minute shopping and going to just have a chill day. I am at work, the dogs are at home with him. He was going to go south to Roanoke (home) for a gun show and to stay with his Mom! His birthday is Sunday so he wanted to spend some time with his fam. NOT going to happen as I don't want him stuck there or on the road and can't get home.

So that is the excitement in Kobiworld :-)
I did get a text, last night, that Tara & Guy landed safely in New Orleans so I am VERY glad to have read that!!!!

morning all - yeah - what's up with the SN*W. We are supposed to get 5-8 inches..and in the upper elevations even more. And quite frankly I don't know if we are or are not upper elevations. I know we get more snow that the ridge next to us so... 1600 ft but that's nothing compared to just 25 miles east of us so....

But hit the grocery store already this morning - made a quick dash out around 8AM from work and picked up the requesite milk and eggs. Will head back out at lunch time for the more important beer and wine. LOL! maybe even pick up some fruit and veggies.

Let's make the grocery list:
Milk - check
Eggs - check
Bread - check

French toast coming right up. LOL!

Good morning all. Those in the mid atlantic states have fun with this storm, it's going to miss New England.

Timmmmmy, the Sony was two cameras ago. Last year I got an Olympus 1010 (same camera as Darlene), but just before Thanksgiving I found the LCD was broke. That's why I got the Olympus T6000. I can't wait to get it wet.

I hope everyone has a fantastic day, I'm recovering from the sweets coma I went into last night :-) (I kinda liked it!)

I'm meeting CB for breakfast this morning..I want you all to know she is awesome! Over the course of the year she collects toys and clothing to distribute to homeless shelters at Christmas time. She brings them to the tenderloin district and drops them off to the most needy of the neediest. I am making a small contribution of clothing but she is doing all the leg work. CB ROCKS!!!

Okay gotta get dressed, I drove the kids to school in m y jammies today but think I should throw on some clothes to meet CB!

See you later!

UGH on the snow, Kobi, Freddie, Ruth...WTF!!!!

A Big HI! to all who joined in! Helllloooo and all that.

Just got done making, 85 meatballs for the holidays. In the freezer chilling now. There will be a pasta and meatball night, followed with meatball and provolone hoagies the next day. Also made my dad his favorite, and don't laugh, he's been this way since I was knee high to a grasshopper, but he loves cold meatloaf sandwiches, so I made him a nice 3 pound meatloaf and that is chilling in the freezer too. He will be happy when he arrives, he gets grumpy if I don't have it here. Says my mom doesn't make it enough for him. Bah, he's just spoiled. :-)

Jim, thanks!!! :-)

Off to do some knee exercises and then ice it up. Standing too long on it, needs some action.

Health expert my ***

Anybody who can slide up and down chimneys deliver millions of presents and shake like a bowl full of jelly when he laughs and do this for hundreds of years can have all the cookies and milk he wants and be as fat as he wants. When this so-called health 'expert' can live that long THEN he can criticize Santa and not a moment before.

Imagine criticizing Santa Claus!

I'll bet that all he ever got was coal in his stocking when he was a kid and now he is trying to spoil it for the rest of it.

Probably an agent sent by Chavez and the Grinch!!! (but even the Grinch learned the error of his ways in the end)

Support Santa, leave out milk and cookies on Christmas Eve!!!!!!

Health expert: Santa needs a carrot, not a cookie

Dec 16, 7:02 PM (ET)

LONDON (AP) - Yes, Virginia, there really is a Santa Claus. And he's a public health menace.
Public health expert Nathan Grills of Monash University in Australia says the beloved Christmas icon should ditch his sleigh and start biking or walking to lose his jelly belly.
Grills' light-hearted research was published online Thursday in the annual Christmas issue of the British medical journal BMJ.
After conducting a literature review, Grills identified a "very high Santa awareness" among children. He determined that Santa made a reckless role model, noting his frequent cookie snacks, occasional cigars and refusal to don a helmet during "extreme sports such as roof surfing and chimney jumping."

"Santa is a late adopter of evidence-based behavior change and continues to sport a rotund, sedentary image," Grills wrote.
He also found a correlation between countries that celebrate Santa and large numbers of fat children.
"Santa promotes a message that obesity is synonymous with cheerfulness and joviality," Grills wrote. He suggested that jolly old Saint Nick should swap his traditional snacks of cookies and milk in favor of sharing carrots with Rudolph.
More disturbingly, Grills said Santa's close-up contact with sniffling, coughing kids made him a one-man outbreak waiting to happen, with swine flu the biggest seasonal concern.
"Unsuspecting little Johnny gets to sit on Santa's lap, but as well as his present, he gets H1N1 influenza," Grills warned.
Grills said he donned a Santa suit himself - and deemed the experience a public health nightmare. "I was kissed and hugged by snotty-nosed kids at each performance and was never offered alcohol swabs to wipe my rosy cheeks between clients," he wrote.

You know, the sharing of the kids affects the grandparents, too! We didn't have Kira for Christmas last year, and even requested a yr swap because Dani was home. Nope. That man has called her one time, yes ONE, in the past year which was on her birthday in September. Kira's mom had her call him on Mother's day to wish his wife a Happy Mother's Day, and also on Father's day, to wish him a happy day. My DIL called to see if he was taking her for New Year's and the answer was, "Yes, as it stands now, but that may change." Granted he lives 2 1/2 hours away, but not one single trip to see her in a year. I nominate him for Non Father of the Year :-(. Hopefully he'll drop off the face of the earth and we'll have her for all holidays! Rant off!

I haven't read the threads --- started last night but swiftly fell asleep (read that passed out!).
Hugs all around and Happy Fridays abound.

Flights to New Orleans were fine... it's wonderful being with Guy's brother and family. As much as we wanked about the travel and getting along... it's really great to see Guy with his big brother :-)

We're heading up to Lafayette this afternoon so if I don't get a chance to check back...

Hugs and HoHoHo!!!

Phoenix-area teacher on leave after students dine at Hooters

Teacher took her hs choir to hooters for lunch after a performance where they were corrupted by waitresses in t shirts and shorts

I bet they ate on the deck too ;)

I'm sure they ate well tho

the shock of it all

I'm surprised they haven't had her arrested for for, for, for,

something

not leaving a big enough tip?,

not asking for the PTA president to go with them?

Not cleaning their plates?

Some people just need to complain just to hear themselves spout drivel

Okay if you did not grow up in Knoxville, TN or around here Dolly Parton got her start on the Cas Walker Show......Cas had a lot of political power and really didn't care about the rules and regs on TV either the ole' coon hunter said it like he wanted to. My Papaw and Nanie shopped his stores for years.

Here is a little clip of Cas and his style.

Quick peek in...Ruth, PS, Gail, Krispi, I hear ya!!! our SIL's parents demand that Sarah, SIL, and grandkids be with them for ALL holidays. So, unless we go over there, we don't get to see them:-( We are going this year though. I can't wait for the day when we can have them all over HERE for Christmas!!!! And don't even get me started on the early years with the kids...and the some people trying to outdo with presents...ugh..ick...bleh...

On a happier note, check this out to make for your little ones. I made one for Pooka, Andrew, and Christopher and sent to Sarah. Pooka called after she watched it and told me she got a call from Santa and that he said she's been a good girl! Have patience, it timed out several times when I was trying to make mine but i finally got through. Santa Video Card

Wine'z Gud! :-)

You know 'lectrical lines (above ground along the highway not at the house) get loaded with snow and ice and hit by 50 mph wind and "snap" no more electric! :-(

What link? Where? What'd I miss?!

Can't show the nightstick! Apparently, a belt cap and nightstick are not considered enough clothing to post the pic, sorry :-(

I work up to 10 degrees this morning...brrrr...now it's 33...impending snow??? I'm REALLY worried about Amanda getting in and my 2 plus hour trip to pick her up!

Didn't read the thread. Hope all is well with all....

Yea! I made it in time for HH!
You all have been burning up the keyboards today and yesterday. Me too, but only with work stuff.

Sorry you lots of you are dealing with cold and white stuff. Stay safe. It's been raining on and off all day here.

I went the Aquarium's volunteers holiday party last night and brought 2 key lime pies. :-) Since I'm so new with the program I knew only one person, but met a couple of nice people before the evening was over. One of the volunteers played guitar and at one point had a video of a turtle hatchling making its long journey to the water.
So I taped it.

Be back soon. Gots to run out and get myself some dinner.

Me, too Donna. You wouldn't believe how much food every one brought. Tons of cookies, pies, cakes. I had desert before a little bit of real food. Which is where I'm going now.

See ya later.

I want that painting! The regal head is Chaos, and the coloring is our dearly departed Dangy as she was turning white. Beautiful framing and matting.

If this is to be a surprise, who's keeping St Lou off the computer?

Donna, hope all will work out okay but be careful and don't take chances. Be prepared (blankets, cellphone, etc in car) :-)

Linda, cool video! That looks like quite the setup at the aquarium! :-)

Linda, I have to ask. Are the volunteers that have been there awhile sort of unfriendly? I've found that trying to join new dive oriented groups that have been established for some time is difficult sometimes. They don't seem to go out of their way to welcome new folks...too bad they can't be like BT:-)

Freddie, I just made another vid card for Pooka's BFF. Got right through. I think everyone in the US must have been making them today and it was causing problems.

I'm back with a greet salad and garlic toast. Anyone want me to breath on them?

PS, BEAUTIFUL!!

Bill, the aquarium is housed in what used to be a water treatment plant, so the theatre is round, the newest pool (opening in March) is round. Recycling the facility is a great idea.

Tink, the people at last nights party were the divers and the mammal volunteers. They seemed friendly - since I have a head cold I was a wall flower, but I met the nicest lady who hung out with me and introduced several people to me.

Tink, I've noticed kind of the same thing when we do live aboards. It's pretty funny if you sit back and watch all the posturing. Who's got the most dives under their belt, etc. But after the first dive things settle down.

Thanks, Poppa Bill :-) I will...good news is my Dad and step-sister and her hubby aren't too far from the airport, so I can employ step-bro-in-law if need be and take my time getting to get her from them...as long as they allow the plane to land...no snow would be better!!

Back to brewing some peanut brittle! :-)

OMG I just watched the Old Cas Walker clip BH posted. That old coot lost track of what he was saying a couple of times.

Bill, There may be other places that you can volunteer. Is there a dive club in your area? Some of them have scheduled dives for trash pick up. Or if there is a nature preserve close by you could do something there.

Hey everyone!!

Had a delicious breakfast with CB, I was starving by the time I got there, it was fun, we sat, ate, chatted and drank cawfee!!

Not to be a downer but on a sad note, on the 101 driving to the cafe there was a horrible accident and someones life was cut short..appreciate the ones you love, cherish each day you have together and be thankful for the little things in life that bring you happiness. We just never know when our gig will be over.......Peace and Love

Thanks Linda! We're in touch with the local dive club. It's pretty cool, there's lots of dives but there's surprising little they actually do. We are a nature preserve! LOL :-) Feed the deer, turkey, hawks, not the seals, sea gulls, cayotes, foxes, snakes, and lobster. It's all pretty much in balance other than the occasional stolen tomato by a poachin' deer :-) Got no rabbits which makes me think those Hawks are VERY good at what they do.

RA, sorry to hear about the accident, and I agree with you on appreciating your loved ones and every moment. How was CB? I wanted to send her a GIANT Christmas Card, but couldn't find any.

Bill, sounds like you live in the perfect place. Lots of critters. :-)

This critter is going to poof for the evening. May curl up with my book.

Have a great evening.

We are just back from shopping...I think we are done except for the furkids which we will take care of in the morning. Special bones for the pups and a catnip cigar for the cat. Somehow that cat knows it is Christmas morning and waits for that darn cigar every year!!!

Tomorrow and Sunday will consist of organizing the gifts and wrapping along with some organization to our bedroom which has become gift central!

Sleep well BT...hugs to all whether you want them or not!
