Good morning Patrick!

How is the little one today? I've had her picture up on my screen throughout the night praying for her.

Last call she was resting peacefully. Kimberly is going back up to the hospital and will give me a call after she see her this morning. My nurse is not there for me to get a heads up from right now. Have to wait as I'm at work unless something goes wrong and then I'll go back up there myself.

Thanks Ruth we appreciate the prayers.......

Buenos Dias Mis Amigos :-) :-)

I am here drinking coffee and sort of sleepy, I was awaken when the phone rang at 5:15 am, a friend that lives in Switzerland call to say hello and wish me Happy Holidays. It was so nice to speak with her, haven't talk to her in ages just by letters. I have a smile on my face!!!

Patrick, I hope the little one continues doing better.

Ruth, sleep well.

Tom, stay in the house, have some chocolate and maybe cook some soup. I don't like snow either, my first accident ever, I had been in GA for 4 months, was because of the rain and sleet and this Costa Rican woman did not know about that stuff!!!

Today I go to the hospice office to help, then shopping and continue to look for a job - a good day it is going to be.

Cynde, RA hope you are feeling better.

Hugs and :-) :-)

Good morning all and especially you Tom, I'm surprised you're up so early after that late night last night. Are you still the bad cat and should we tell Pam about the missing goodies...so many questions and so few answers.

Here's something to warm a divers heart this cold snowing morning.

Oasis of the Seas

From here. That monster is the Oasis of the Seas and rather big given a normal sized cruise ship is in the background.

We had beautiful sn@w on Saturday - should have taken pictures. now it's just rain...well yesterday it was rain.

Debbie so glad you are home and resting now. Just enjoy the daytime line-up. The boys can help you with that if need be...I think they know it by heart.

Hugs and prayers to those who need them.

Oh - VERY proud of Stuart yesterday. After Monday, the agreement made with the recruiting office and Stuart (with Pete's help) was that nothing had to be decided until Wednesday. They had him fax over a copy of a contract that showed where they were able to give full tuition, college expenses AND get paid but then they said to Stuart "And we need your answer in 2 hours" from the time it was faxed to me. So he just turned around and said "If you are now going against what was agreed upon yesterday and are telling me that I only have 2 hours to review this and think about it then the answer is NO!" Now THAT'S my boy! And BTW - just to make it clear - he still wants to be in the Army Reserves and the ROTC program and we are very pleased with that - it's the taking a semester off part that we have a REAL hard time with...and the college ROTC "dude" thought it was a bad idea as well. Now that's an opinion I trust.

OK - gotta make the scones...since Tink makes the donuts.

OH - and thinking about you alot Vira - extra hugs for you.

Everyone, in the path of this storm, stay safe!
We still have several inches of snow on the ground and last night we were blessed with freezing rain. That has moved through and now it's just plain old rain.

Lots of high water in our area so we'll see what the rest of the day has for us.

Hugs..........

oh yeah - Tink - reading about your 4 bounce sheets and softener smell issue reminded me of one of my more "interesting" moments this weekend. With my hair so short I (from time to time) use hair gel to make it slightly spiky. So anyway - Pete has some of that Axe stuff and his hair gel was open so I just took a little bit of it and used it on my hair. It took MAYBE 20 minutes before my head was in the bath/shower getting that disgusting smelly stuff out of my hair. I really and truly thought I was going to throw up - it was soooooooooooo gross. Never again I tell you - never again. I don't know how you boys do that particular product.

Maybe I should go ahead and tell you how my morning started yesterday too... Yes - more hair gel stories. So I have a different hair product that is thinner. Yesterday morning I had put a little on my hands to rub into my hair and while I was doing that I was thinking about the fact that I was going to see the person who I buy by skincare products from in the afternoon. I was thinking that I needed more product and so - yep - you guessed it - the hair gel went on my face instead of in my hair. Pete asked me to smile to see if would "hold" - jerk. LOL!

OK - gotta run again. ciao

Good Morning from a very wet SE PA. If this would have been snow, we would not have been out until spring. The rain last night was insane.

I am burning up, coughing, and feel like fermented dog shaite. The only solace I have is knowing Oprah is only a couple hours away. In the meantime, I still have the View.

If I feel better, later on, I am going to practice naked cannonballs in our endless pool in preparation of the midnight skinny dip off the Bel dock. I will try to make it look like the Diving Horse on Steel Pier as much as possible.

In the following clip, you will see some of the exploits from last year's Bon trip by the mods. Please notice Tom doing an incredible motorcycle ride, along salt pier, Timmmmy has a way with the seals on Bonaire like no other man from the United States. Probably the most interesting shot was Jerry and Cynde doing the "Balance Dance" before they plunged off the dock naked. This was my favorite. The scene of me plunging into the sea off the Bellafonte dock was done in 2005 when my whole family stayed there one summer. I hope you enjoy it. You'll also love the music.

"A Different Christmas Poem"

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.
The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know,
Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.
A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.
"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..
To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night."
"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.
I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.
I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."
" So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."
Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.

They finally got the swine vaccine shot available here and I got to decide whether or not to have it given to my son, age 15. A tough decision as it has so many pros and cons with it. Not sure what to do about it.

Debbie, I'm getting the shot as soon as it's available in our area. All the data has shown that it's safe. I wouldn't give him the attenuated spray, that's the one that bothers me because so many people I know have gotten sick after getting it. I think Kelly said that Riley got the nasal spray. It's definitely a personal choice; however, I feel it's safe and our docs have vaccinated their children. Maybe this will help?

Amish man from central Pennsylvania charged with DUI after being found asleep in moving buggy
From Associated Press
December 08, 2009 6:38 PM EST
LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) — Police in central Pennsylvania arrested an Amish man on drunk driving charges over the weekend after he was found asleep in his moving buggy. Police said a 22-year-old man was slumped over and asleep in a slow-moving buggy on Sunday night.

An off-duty officer from nearby reported seeing the horse pulling the buggy at a walking pace as it straddled the center line.

Police said a breathalyzer test snowed the man's blood-alcohol content was 0.18, more than twice the 0.08 legal limit for drivers.

Jim, hope you went to the doc and how is your mom?

Cynde, hope tomorrow it will be a better day for you.

Hey Timmmmy, chicken sounds good!

Today hasn't been a good day for me, kind of depressed I am feeling. I feel like I have let down my family and specially my son, haven't found a job, not doing much at all, gain a little weight :-(, have ideas and then do nothing about it-procrastinate- and have been crying.

I know there is a lot of people out there who is going through worse things but since you are my friends I wanted to share how I was feeling today.

Thank you for listening!!!

Ms. Vira... even the happiest of people feel sad sometimes. You're allowed. And we'll always love you!
I'm sorry the job market has been so tough but one thing I KNOW for SURE is that you have NOT let your family down. I'm sure they appreciate how hard you work (even without a job) and how much you try to make everyone else happy.
Oh and that weight stuff.... it comes and it goes :-)

You're a joy and it's okay to say... I need a hug.

HUG!! Hang in there too... it will pass ~ xo

Elvira, you sound like I feel most of the time. Everyone goes thru a bit of depression now and then. And during the Holidays things just seem worse. I'm sure your family loves you just the way you are, I know I do!! Things will all work out for you. Just keep in mind, one year from today, things in your life will be different. You have that to look forward to. Because you don't know where you'll be or what you'll be doing, but I bet you will be happy!!!! I've done that a lot in my life, and I always look back and realize that things really weren't that bad, but I'm happy to be where I am now.:-)

Congratulations Tom! :-)

Elvira - hon, thank you for sharing. It can be very hard in times like these. As Tara said, you are a wonderful human being. Don't assume what your family thinks - you are a very special person - they know - they care - they love you! It's okay to cry - we all have our days, weeks, or seasons. You have many who love you here and I would bet even more who love you there! :-) Big hug full of warmth and cheer ( ( ( HUG ) ) )! I hope you get out from under your cloud and see the sun in the little things around you :-)

Deals deals deals! Seriously boxes everywhere around here. Fedex and UPS are making two drops a day each! oy! :-)

Tara, the reality with Sleep Apnea is that eventually you can use the machine, have a pace maker installed to restart your heart, or wait to see if the ambulance arrives in time. It's documented fact. I don't mean to scare you. But, once I managed to explain Chip's options to him he was pretty quick to decide. It's not easy, it's not pretty, but you keep him. That's life for now. It truly has made a HUGE difference for BOTH of us - I now get to sleep too! :-) Apparently with guys it's perceived as a "sign of weakness" thing. Well, it isn't - anymore than regular cancer screening. The more people they know that use the thing and rant about it the easier it gets. Good luck!

Good evening.

Debbie - It's good to know your knee hurts - it means you are healing! Sorry, but truthful! Be pampered as long as you can get it.

Patrick - still praying for baby girl, and Kimberly too. She's had a rough 3 months too.

Elvira - major hugs to you. You are SO not a failure. You are a beautiful vivacious woman in your prime. It'll all fall in place. Just believe and be patience.

Jim and Tink - Just stay in bed - (not together :-)) and get well. Tink - What kind of a health care worker doesn't approve of sick time....?)

My husband wears a CPAP. I used to lie awake listening to him stop breathing, then gasping aloud. He would get up at 10 on a Saturday and lay down on the couch at noon for a nap! He wasn't sleeping! When he had the sleep test, he registered stopped breathing 57 times in an hour. Hello - That's once a minute. He will not spend a night away without the machine. What a difference! I also did the sleep test, and came away with a diagnosis with restless leg syndrome. My tech said my legs moved all night long, so I have a med that relaxes them. That's why I would wake up tired.

What else did I miss tonight?

Just saying......!

Cynde - Go for the sleep test. It's a snap. One night from 8 pm to 6 am, and I did it on a work night. Once released in the morning, I went home and showered and dressed for work. It helped me realise why I woke up tired so many mornings. It also inspired John to do the test that his doctor recommended, and found he had severe sleep apnea. The machine goes every where with us. Al said the currant would be fine in Bonaire, and it was, for the past 3 years now.

This is true.

Years ago I had a email address with Compuserve. AOL took them over and changed all our emails to AOL, but, kept our CS address on file for five years.

I join Face Lic and all of a sudden I get a bunch of invites, emails, and all kinds of from lesbians,????????

As a clarification, Al is the owner of the Black Durgon Inn, where we stay, and we have no problem using the CPAP at what ever current it is without any adapation. (Admittedly ignorant about currents!)

Donna, I wish that you were correct! Either way, it's unavoidable. I just hoped I wasn't going to be involved - WRONG! HA!

Tom - remember all those lovely relatives that "died quietly in their sleep?!" Welcome to the age of tests. If your partner can't sleep while you try - you need to try the test. IT'S AMAZING HOW MUCH A LIFE DIFFERENCE it can be. If it doesn't work - cool. Not for you. But, OMG, for those affected - it is a new lease on life.

Tom :-( Eventually it will be the same 'ol story. If your partner tells you are ROCKING THE DANG NEIGHBORHOOD, then you're at risk. Take the test, try the machine and be FRIGGIN' amazed at what a true night's sleep and function can mean to you both. I am amazed - and I am not easily amazed!

I'm going to chime in with Bill. Ron has been on a CPAP for 10 years now. The first 15 years we were together, I didn't sleep. Not only does your breathing stop, so does your heart! He was diagnosed with a blockage every second and his heart STOPPED 3 times in the first 1/2 hour they tested him! They immediately woke him and put him on the machine and now we both sleep. The tech told him he maybe got 15 minutes of sleep a night. Now, if he snores (asleep in his chair) it's a mild little snick. The difference is life changing and now he can function during the day.

The first time we took the machine to Bonaire, we blew every fuse he had until we found out the AC was causing it when it came on. Try to find one of those on the island! Well, we finally did at Benzer's and bought all they had. (They're closed now.) The electric is so much more stable now, we don't have any problems with it. But, I still make sure we carry fuses wherever we go.

My life is so improved without "the Chainsaw Massacre"! It does run in families too. His whole household snored. Get'R Done!

Judy, My husband believes his heart stint (80 percent blockage) was caused by years of sleep apnea. His heart was probably stopping too.

Tink and Tom? Are you convinced? You OWE it to your families to check it out.

I so wish I could convince Guy --- he knows the medical issues, he's revived and lost patients while their families watched over his shoulder, he knows that it affects my sleep as well but he has this picture of a monster, uncomfortable, unweilding beast covering his face at night.

Judy's story is almost identical here. Chip was wakened within 30 minutes of the test, they didn't dare let him sleep. It was severe. Chip's health has steadily increased over the first year and he truly could feel the difference the very first morning. No sugar coating, you feel the dang thing but you wake up refreshed, your partner sleeps, and your circulatory system doesn't pop from starting and stopping your heart so much. The pacemaker thing works too but it's a rough road to go if you don't really have to. Done. Sorry, some folks don't realize how very dangerous apnea can be. ((hugs))
