Greetings from SLO, buddies. I was on my way down to see Mom when she took a fall, so my timing was good. I think we might get away with just bruises(cross fingers) this time, but I'm kind of waiting & watching....trip to doc is trauma in itself.

Mom turned 90 yesterday. I brought a tiramisu cake from my favorite bakersy....anybody who comes to visit me in the future will be dragged to Ambrosia Bakery on Ocean ave. for a cupcake...

Lawn mowed, leaves mulched, fertilizer and lime applied - sprinkler dude comes to blow out the sprinklers in an hour. Big trip to the dump is over. Ran by the wine store. Cb, hope your Mom is ok....

actually I like handing out candy and seeing cute costumes, but don't like the gore and evil aspects of Halloween...can't wait till it's over.

and I hate the fact that Thanksgiving often gets almost over-looked because it's just in between the "big" holidays of Halloween and Christmas...

and CB...I thought you lived in the city???? They take kids around on a pickup-truck hayride thing here and we don't participate, but if if someone DOES come to my door, I will give them some candy. When I was a kid, I liked handing out the candy as much as collecting it.

Jerry, Mr. Bill has Far too much taste to have those police line barriers; I know the decor would be better. Is that outside RosAnne's trailer park?

Thanks for your good Mom wishes, guys. We may catch a break this time...

Donna, I live about 30 miles south of San Francisco in al area that never got incorporated. So it still pretends to be a little more "country". Our house hangs over a ravine, so we get the resident herd of deer in our yard, as well as other creatures.....ask Becky about our critters....

G'day Y'all at last I've had a bit of time to catch up with the threads so HUGS to all that need them.

Well actually the one thing I find frustrating about these forums is that you really want to give those hugs for real, certainly after you've met up with some of people at mini/mega meets and felt the genuine friendship and love.

hmmmm and I would like to say "sorry about not being around so much since May but the PBD has been really bad, just catching up on the threads here or trying to sort through pics for the trip report just gets me daydreaming about Bonaire and wanting to be there"

but hey IT's ALL GOOD

Good afternoon! And Happy Halloween! I expect it'll start here around 6.

It seems to be a busy day for all. Prayers for Jared. Also for CB's Mom. PS - great paintings, but please go easy. Enjoy that weather while you have it, Bill! Boom - Wish I could be there too!

We'll try to get the girls to eat before Trick or Treating, but that's always been difficult! I have pizza rolls for them. Son & DIL come to our neighborhood to take the girls out. We've been here 25 years and know our area. John has a big pot of chili on the stove, cornbread ready for the oven, so everyone can eat between dressing up. We always sit outside and chat with the neighbors when the kids come. It's a hot one this year!

What ever it is you're doing tonight - enjoy!

OMG! I just read this in a local website here, had to share. I say this all the time - " JUST MOVE ON ", "THE PAST IS PAST, THE FUTURE IS WHAT MATTERS"

(after that lovely intro here we go...)

Whenever I do a seminar on stress management, I always get a majority of individuals who want to discuss the past and how different their lives would have been if they had made better decisions.

It’s all well and good to visit the past if it serves as a way to learn valuable lessons that make life more meaningful. Unfortunately, most people act as if they are prisoners of their pasts. Albert Ellis, a renowned expert in the field of cognitive behavioral therapy, coined a phrase I absolutely love. He calls getting stuck in what-ifs – “should-ing on yourself.”

I should have gotten a different job. I should have married someone else. I should exercise more, eat better, and on and on. If you can relax and stop “should-ing on yourself,” you’re going to enjoy life much more.

Here are some steps to help you live more in the here and now:

– Whenever you get caught up in thinking about what you should have done, stop and think about what a waste of energy that is. You can’t go back and redo it, because that period of time has passed. As long as you’re still breathing, there’s a possibility that you can do it now. However, if you have no intention to follow through, give it up and move on.

– Buy yourself a whip and keep it handy. Every time you start to drown yourself or others in “should,” grab the whip and give yourself a good beating. You’re already self-flagellating, so why not literally do it.

– Keep a “should” journal. You’ll probably be shocked to discover how many times a day “shoulda, coulda, woulda” comes out of your mouth.

– There are certain things that have to be done in life. Do them to the best of your ability and then forget about them.

– Don’t allow “should-ing” to go on at home or at work. Ask people to express themselves in better ways. “Should-ing” is filled with judging and finding fault. As a result, our surroundings become a courtroom filled with prosecutors and attorneys. Life is too precious to waste on what might have been. Get over it, get on with it, and live “now.”

I remember when I was young I got into mischief on this night. Many an egg was thrown and LOTS of TP was thrown LOL! I was naughty.

Oh sure.... now I really am alone :-( Guy has left to work tonight until 2 or 3am then he'll just stay at the airport since he's back on duty at 8am. It's overtime though so hard to complain :-)

We had a very nice day - lunch at the beach and a walk to the harbor to look at the boats we want to buy someday :-):-) When we got home, he took a nap and I hit the vets and the grocery store ---- money in/money out.

Vet news --- LG is being treated for epilepsy :-( not the end of the world but not curable. There's a chance it could be a tumor but we're not going to put him thru trips to LA, chemo, surgery or all that. He freaks out just on the 5 min drive to the vet's office.

When I got home from the grocery I had a HUGE laugh.... I had phenobarbetal for the cat, beer for Guy (when he gets home tomorrow night) and vodka for me.... what a house we are!!! Oh and Rasta has her controlled substances too (2 of them)... Bob (oddly enough) is the only creature in this house who is NOT medicated :-):-):-)

No candy here but I've got Halloween Tattoos to give out if we get any goblins. I've got a black light and scary window thingys and blinking eyeballs. I figure me in my fuzzy slippers and flannels should be the scariest of it all!

CB, I'm sending up good vibes for your mom, please let us know how she's doing. and HAPPY 90th BIRTHDAY!!!! I'm sure she's doing 100% better since you're there.

It's just about getting dark -- there's a red hue on the mountains.... almost time to light the candles and pretend :-)

Rob and Bubbles are the only ones currently drug free in this house! Bon Bini is kicking a@@ with her Otomax ear drops. Major improvements. Bubbles gets excited when we have to administer the meds. She must feel slighted?! That and she's totally nosey....LOL!

This was a quiet night, so far. Rob watched X Men Wolverine. Totally stoopid movie; thank goodness it was free!

Evening all. Lights were kept out all night - We have maybe 4 to 8 mini munchkins still in the neighborhood - mostly used to get very old teenagers, so we stopped decorating and giving out treats.

Tara glad to hear LG's condition is treatable. Unfortunately, we got the same for our little Midnight - treatable, but incurable. Midnight has been diagnosed with Chronic Renal Failure. Have to immediately get him on to low phospherous , lower protein food, and he will go back to the vets next week for subcutaneous hydration which will also help get his electrolytes back in order. At least there is no pain for this old man - vet says he's 14 - but we believe it's more like 18!!

All will be good, I know.

:-) Bill :-)

Hi All, No trick or treat kiddies all night, we are a bit out of the way, so Brandon is SO HAPPY he gets all the Halloween candy to himself!

Tara, Gentle hugs to LG and Bill, same to Midnight and Kobi's Bini.

CB, sorry to hear about your mom's fall, my dad took a spill too, he's not quite as old, only 81, but it wasn't pretty, stubborn as he is, won't go to the doc's, so unless he can't move, he won't go.

We just watched "17 Again" ~ cute movie, think I saw most of it before, but forgot the ending, so watched it all this time.

Hugs to everyone out there that wants one or two or take a whole bunch. :-)

SuperT, healing thoughts for Midnight. Our dear Kibbles had special diet needs due to renal failure. We lost her to something totally different but the food and monitoring kept that at bay. Will be thinking about you guys as well.

RA, I am missing you and the fun we had! Makes me want to plan another trip!!! I hope the kids and Ravi have fun trick or treating. You have the fun job; candy giver outer :-) One for them, two for you LOL!
You get to see all the cuties and their costumes!

It started to rain here a bit ago. I have 3 wet pups that have decided it's snuggle time. I am going to say goodnight, again :-)

Hugs to all and to all a good night!!!
