She turns 90 tomorrow. I am going to try to talk her into coming home with me but she is a feisty 'ole German Lady and I doubt she will. I wish she would though. She just needs to be with someone and her daughter just doesn't check on her enough. So, wish me luck!

Another Kansan! Like Tom I was in the KC area - KCK (as in Kansas City, Kansas, Prairie Village, etc.) Friends and relatives in Manhattan, Salina, Wichita, Topeka, Hays, Beloit (great pheasant hunting). Love that part of the country. I really do miss the twisters and summer storms, wide open spaces, big sky, waving fields of ripe wheat this time of year (just like waves on the ocean)............

Kansas is pretty. There is certainly NOTHING in Jamestown. I just never cared for the "flatness" of Kansas. I just love the hills of Tennessee and the Mountains of Colorado I guess

Krispi, You're bringing back some good old memories of my life in Lawrence KS. It was a great place to live for a while, but too far from the ocean. I wanted to find a body of water to windsurf in that didn't have a clay bottom. Yuck.

Kobi, I had a longer drive home than normal last night. My hairdresser is about 10 miles south of work so that make a 30 mile drive home. I'll give you a shout on my drive home tonight - 4:45 - 5.

Dan, How about the Flint Hills. Them's some pretty hills - miles of prairie grass.

My Mom lived in Chapman for a long time. When to school there. So did some of my Father's siblings. Chapman got destroyed by that tornado a while back. My Grandma had a diner there a LONG time ago. Lots of memories..

Flint Hills ROTFLMAO!!! First time my ex and I drove from Olathe to Oklahoma to visit her Mother (beautiful lady with a heart of gold - still is), I saw signs that said entering Scenic Flint Hills, next thing I remember was a sign for a "scenic" pull off. At that pull off was a sign stating something like "Flint Hills Elevation 1350'", still couldn't see the hills AND YES, I WAS STONE COLD SOBER at that time

Dan, I don't miss twisters, saw three, never need to see another. I do miss the original Gates and Sons BBQ tho. Went back to Olathe about thirteen years ago and found it had turned into a chain. Not as good as the stuff one used to get at the shack which was in the warehouse district. Ahhhhhhhhh to have someone yell at you as you walked through the door "MAY I HELP YOU?" then be able to enjoy some of the best BBQ (wet) I have ever eaten. DANG, NOW I AM HUNGRY!!!

Sanibel, or as Tink calls her "Snaibel"LOL, Did wonderfully while I was out yesterday. They finally came and got her at 9:30 last nite. Brought her back at 7:30 am. I have this harness, it's an "Easy Walk" that fits Miss Bel very nicely. Well, I just took Calypso and Sanibel for a walk and it was marvelous!!! She didn't pull at all. I'm liking this dog sitting/sharing thing we have going on. The people that own her have been letting her stay in the house at nite. See, It's all working out wonderfully!!!
So, she stays there at nite and w/ me during the day. She got her nails trimmed today also. We've been busy!!!

The flooding here is getting scary. We have a huge lot between the house and a road, it is now a lake. Going across the road and into my new neighbor friend Jimmy's house. What a mess. Daytona is REALLY bad. The speedway and airport are underwater!!!

I think the sun is trying to come out!!! But, on the news they are saying we will be getting 10 - 14 more inches....and I still have leaks. But they aren't that bad. Once it is dry for a day or two, the guys are coming back out to fix it all. I just feel so sorry for these people getting their houses flooded. This is more rain than we got from Fay. I can't even imagine what our "old" house is like right now!!! Glad it's not ours

The rain isn't hot enough, but I haven't seen any on their backs yet, so maybe, just maybe.....

Sanibel was COVERED in fleas. I sprayed her with the Adam's Flea Spray the other day, and she doesn't have one on her.
I just can't believe that in her whole life she was never inside until she came here. And now they are leaving her INSIDE THE HOUSE at nite. It's ALL good!!!!!!!

And I was in the FRONT ROW!!! It was such an incredible night - I still have goosebumps I could look up Jimmy's bermudas

Hugs to all I might have missed. Ran around here this morning, got pool water tested, opening the pool this week-end, got chemicals for it, then a couple of garden centers for plants/flowers by the mailbox, made a new garden around there today.

Boom, you made me laugh on looking up JB's bermudas. I am hoping to see him this summer. I may have a couple of tickets from a friend who can't go as she will be out of state then. Sad for her, but great for me. I forgot to buy some when they went on sale, but may get a chance to do so from her.

MOSS!! They call this the Fern Capital of the World, I think it's more MOSS!!!!! Lots of huge old oaks covered in it. I like them, I'm more used to that than Palm Trees. It's more of Rustic Florida

It's pouring again

I am having a really hard time trying to stay awake here at my desk!!! Argh!!! A lot of people took the day off today including the boss and another coworker. Actually the other coworker was sent to Finland to transport bone marrow for a transplant. Pretty cool.
I was put on a list of potential couriers since I have a passport and may be going to the Czech Republic on June 18th.

It's still raining - pouring one minute, just when you think it's tapering off, it slams you again! Like when I ran out to the grocery store! But I'm not complaining - we need it badly. I was going to sit in the van until it tapered off, but knew Chaos would be freeking out, so I left everything there and dashed in to calm him down.

And apparently the good news is that Sanibel isn't sitting outside chained up in it!

It's almost a 3 day weekend! Party safely. Don't drink and drive in the downpours.... (Not that any of my responsible BT friends would!)

A friend came into the shop with a local magazine, The Montecito Journal, and there is a huge article about Guy's helicopter crew, with loads of great pictures
The timing couldn't be more perfect because they are now in a political barfight with the Sheriff's (who want to take over the Air Unit), Co EMS, and the local CalStar (for profit) air company. I told Guy yesterday to remember that when you're in the front the only thing your competition sees is the target on your back!

Okay, I just heard the funniest thing from my daughter, Deborah, when I asked her if she has found summer employment yet. She said a friend wants her to come work where he is working (apparently he was told to be on the lookout for help) When I asked her what the job was that he was doing, she replied, "CABANA BOY!!!" Oh, and he is not allowed to take off his shirt UNLESS the customers ask him to! Just WHAT is my beautiful 17 year old daughter going to do? LOLOLOL

Again, because of my history, I must back away, un-plug my computer and sit in a dark room. No no no, I can not respond............put down the computer and back away.

I know he's probably just scared being in the hospital. It's outside his box
