Morning Donna, Eileen and Tom. - Tom not yet

Eileen good luck for your Dad's retirement.

I just found this on the same site.
Stuff A Jellyfish Down Your Wetsuit
[Rob is a commercial diver for Global Divers in Louisiana. He performs underwater repairs on offshore drilling rigs. Below is an E-mail he sent to his sister, which was submitted to a worst job experience contest on a Ft. Wayne, Indiana radio station. It won 1st prize...]

Just another note from your bottom-dwelling brother.

Last week I had a bad day at the office.

I know you've been feeling down lately at your work, so I thought I would share my dilemma with you to make you realize it's not so bad after all.

Before I can tell you what happened to me, I first must bore you with a few technicalities of my job.

As you know, my office lies at the bottom of the sea. I wear a suit to the office. It's a wetsuit. This time of year the water is quite cool. So what we do to keep warm is this: we have a diesel powered industrial water heater. This $20,000 piece of equipment sucks the water out of the sea. It heats it to a delightful temperature. It then pumps it down to the diver through a garden hose, which is taped to the air hose.

Now this sounds like a darn good plan, and I've used it several times with no complaints.

What I do, when I get to the bottom and start working, is take the hose and stuff it down the back of my wetsuit. This floods my whole suit with warm water. It's like working in a Jacuzzi.

Everything was going well until all of a sudden, my butt started to itch. So, of course, I scratched it.

This only made things worse.

Within a few seconds my butt started to burn. I pulled the hose out from my back, but the damage was done. In agony I realized what had happened.

The hot water machine had sucked up a jellyfish and pumped it into my suit.

Now since I don't have any hair on my back, the jellyfish couldn't stick to it. However, the crack of my butt was not as fortunate.

When I scratched what I thought was an itch, I was actually grinding the jellyfish into my butt.

I informed the dive supervisor of my dilemma over the communicator. His instructions were unclear due to the fact that he, along with 5 other divers, were all laughing hysterically.

Needless to say I aborted the dive.

I was instructed to make 3 agonizing in-water decompression stops totaling 35 minutes before could reach the surface to begin my chamber dry decompression.

When I arrived at the surface, I was wearing nothing but my brass helmet.

As I climbed out of the water, the medic, with tears of laughter running down his face, handed me a tube of cream and told me to rub it on my butt as soon as I got in the chamber.

The cream put the fire out, but I couldn't poop for 2 days because my butt hole was swollen shut.

So, next time you're having a bad day at work, think about how much worse it would be if you had a jellyfish shoved up your butt.

Now repeat to yourself, “I love my job, I love my job, I love my job.”

His counts are low...he couldn't walk this weekend....this is from his mom.

He is getting double doses of Neupogen every morning at 6:00 am. This is inserted by needle into a small device that is slid up under the skin on the back of his upper arm. That means he is not actually getting an injection into the skin, but the medicine burns and stings as it goes in. It stimulates his bone marrow and causes him to have bad pains in his shins. Just think of your bones aching from the inside all the way down your leg. He also received a dose at 6:00 PM today and they will increase the dose tomorrow morning. Then they will draw his blood labs around 7:00 AM and if his counts are high enough they will take him to surgery at 9:00 to insert a catheter in his artery in his groin. This will be the first step in harvesting his stem cells

Morning all! Exciting day here. I have the news on and there is an awesome rescue going on in Maryland. The largest watermain in the US broke. I just saw two kids pulled out via helicopter basket. Way to go rescue workers!

And then...I fed a hawk this morning. Ooops! I put out a ton of seed on the deck and had every little bird in the neighborhood on my deck. Well, Mr. Coopers Hawk saw the activity and helped himself. As you can imagine, the only thing left on my deck is a bunch of seed and one little feather.

Pegi....I voted!

Kinda Good Morning Everyone!:-)

I'm so sorry to hear about Grayson. I've been sending him cards and pictures. I've been so busy I haven't checked on him in a few days. That makes me feel bad. When I don't have my own kids here, he is all I think about. He's got ME back now!! I will leave a note on his site...

And that water main thing!! Thanks for the link BH. That's a mess, I hope everyone is safe.

Me and the kids just finished making MORE cookies. I have wrapping to do. Laundry going. Cleaning to do. Rafe is mowing. He and Livi are going to help me clean. So, all is good here, and I'm not going to dwell on my trivial problems at all anymore.

I have to get to my email now and get caught up there and get some sent!!!

How many hours do I have left for today??? I've been at it since 4 and still not enough time! But, IT'S ALL GOOD!!! The whole family will be together tomorrow and yall have electric and heat and Kobi is back!!:-)

Deep breath, relax and think of others...here I go:-):-):-)

OMGosh I'm soooo lost on this thread :-)

Morning BTrs

BH thank you for the update on Grayson - I'll add a note to his site and healing white light to go with it.

So I'm such a mush-head. Yesterday I was in the checkout line at Macy's, a woman two ahead of me was buying a shirt and asked if they were giving discounts to the Tea Fire Victims --- hard enough to ask but then she has to show paperwork, then the clerk has to go 'upstairs' for special forms and approval, yadda yadda yadda. I was almost finished checking out and she was still trying to buy a shirt. I got her a $10 gift card and had all intention of giving her a big hug when I gave it to her but I'm such a mush I couldn't keep from crying so I practicaly shoved it at her, wished her luck and happy holidays and RAN! I did have my Santa Hat on though so at least I looked the part :-)

Something tells me that today is going to be busy.

So this is how my week has gone.....been busy... about 1 1/2 ago the AC tech was here working on a unit....started soldering and guess what "I HAVE FIRE ALARM"...I'm in a 26 story building and it's cold and rainy and the fancy fire alarm system tells you what floor caused the problem and I am the only one on the WHOLE Floor....the folks are real happy now...NOT....so normally we have the building take us off their system and I turn mine off......and oh yeah he also forgot to call my alarm center before he started working.

But It's All Good" or it will be in a little while.

quick check in, hugs to those that need them!

A peep at work is having nose surgery right now. She broke it surfing in Hawaii a couple weeks ago. I convinced her to let Michael take her, wait for her, then take her back to our house and we will nurse her back to health. She's young, and was just going to have a friend "drop her off" for surgery....not! Her mom just called to see if she is out of surgery, and was VERY thankful that we offered to care for her as she wasn't able to get more time off from work to come down.

I am so sad...soon there will only be one...I'm not sure when they are "leaving" for the Holidays, but I bet it's soon...

Little miss thang now has a pink color (lavendar, whatever)

Good afternoon! I'm still waiting for the last jigsaw piece.

This afternoon was interesting. I walked down to do the animals in blizzard conditions. Everything was going great until I dumped the bobcat's food bowl into her water bowl - #$@@#%%&!!! Then, I being the good person I am, agreed to feed the fawns. I feed them - in and out, lickity split! Then leave and have to walk up the huge hill (Becky has seen it) in the snow. Of course, my lovely allergy to the fawns kicks in about half way up the hill. Thankfully a neighbor picked me up. I don't think I would have finished that hill. I love fawns but hate my allergy to them. :-(

Tribs, are you a vodka drinker?
If not, watch out.
1. You need a mixer for the ice.
2. Olives.
3. Some do two parts Ver to one part Vod.
4. Best to sit on the floor. Less distance to fall.

Yep...I discovered a little while ago that I like vodka. Wes drinks vodka straight, so he has no idea how to mix the ver. They actually sell two types of vermooth. I had to ask the guy in the liquor store which one to buy. LOL! You would think at my age, I would know more about liquor. Ha!

Tribs, do what i do. pour the vodka, ice, and about a teaspoon of olive juice in the shaker. Shake and pour, top with as many olives you like. OR, do what I usually do, take a glass, put some ice in it, pour in the vodka, a teaspoon of olive juice, add the olives, and sip away...

I never got the vermouth thing...ruins good vodka in my book....LOL! If you do use the vermouth, just a "splash" not to much.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By ****Tink**** (Supreme BonaireTalker - Post #8098) on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 - 8:38 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

Tribs, I knew I liked Wes:-) You can add a tablespoon of olive juice if you like, i usually just tip the jar over the glass and pour a little...LOL!

And on the vermouth, I have bought one kind in my lifetime, and it was the wrong kind, it was the kind for gin, not vodka.

If you don't like the taste of vodka so much, put one part vodka to two parts juice you like, cranberry, strawberry, grape, pamagranet (sp), shake, and pour...they are GOOD!

Jerry, remind me to never ask for a martini at your house....it's more like 2/3 vodka, 1/3 vermouth...

Well...I went with the 2/3 combo. I need more olive juice in it. I really do like dirty martinis. We were at dinner a few weeks back at a steak house/martini bar and their dirty martini came with olives stuffed with caviar. I think I really like the salt! :-)

Hello everybody!

Cynde, thanks for being there for your friend; you are awesome!!! OUCHIE on the broken nose. What a great story she can tell, though, about hanging ten/riding pipe in Hawaii :-) Hope she has a speedy recovery.

Boom, your pay it forward today made me smile. You are a dear and I know you made that woman's day!!!! It makes you feel good any time of year to do good and impact someone's life.

PS, thanks! I am glad to be back in action :-) I missed ya.

Linda, THANK YOU!!!!! I owe you a big thanks and an email is heading your way!!!!!!!!!

I am a tired pup tonight. Had our annual soup kitchen Christmas dinner. We served a wonderful meal to 65 needy folks in our community. Turkey, ham, beans, rolls, potato casserole, fresh fruit cups & Christmas cookies. I made a nice little gift bag for each person with hard candies.
We also had a Christmas tree that was decorated with donated gifts ranging from; toys for kids to scarves, hats, gloves, undies, and other needed things. It is such a blessing & so uplifting to be involved in our soup kitchen; serving others. I'll continue to do it each Tuesday until.......

I'm home know with my feet up and surrounded by three Yorkie girls; all snoring lol.
Need to be wrapping Rylan's gifts but I am tired and there is always tomorrow :-)

We make ours by filling the cap of the vermouth bottle with vermouth, swirl it around in the cap and pour it out, dump what's left in the cap into a martini shaker filled with ice, pour your vodka and a bit of olive juice into the shaker, shake shake shake, then strain into chilled martini glasses.

This site will give you all you need to know and then some --- MartiniArt.com very fun site and Jerry the owner is a great guy. Loads of good recipes too!

Go for it!

Wes is working tomorrow as well. I'm working from home. Two book reviews and an encyclopedia entry to write - yawn! I hope your friend is feeling ok after the surgery. Kobi, rub a belly or two for me. I need to be checking out. Martini one was about 2/3 vodka, 1/3 vermouth and a splash of olive juice. The second one was 4/5 vodka 1/8 vermouth and the rest olive juice. I like the salt so need the olive juice. The second one was way too much vodka for me. I'm going night night! Have a good evening you guys.

OK you guys have to hear this one! It ranks right up there with a white trash Christmas :-)
Rob and I are doing a tag team Christmas this year. Totally NOT what we normally do but who cares about normal, right?! :-)

Well, his Mom's doggie is very ill and can't really be stressed. SO, we had plans to go home and stay at his Mom's home. She was going to put her pup in the kennel and go to Rob's sisters' house across town. We just don't like her being along on Christmas.
Simple plan so far? WRONG....doc doesn't want pup in the kennel since she's on heart meds, etc. No problemo but we were going to take our three musketeers and stay at his Mom's house since her pup would not be there and we have no puppy sitter. Having the whole house to ourselves would be awesome! This gets better so stay with me :-)

After much him-hawing around we decided to do the following: Rob will go home tomorrow and have Christmas Eve & day with his family. Spend the night with his Mom so she won't waken Christmas morning alone. He and his Mom will go over to his sister's (she has 3 pups herself) on Christmas morning for breakfast. Rob will leave from there and go to my Mom's and take gifts for Rylan :-) Thank GOODNESS all of these folks only live 3 miles apart lol. Who's missing from this scenario? Moi! :-)

I am going to leave late Christmas Day and go home to be with my family; spending the night and coming home Friday. I will probably just stay at Rob's Mom's house since we already slept in the guest room this past weekend :-)
It's just a silly kinda Christmas but, whatever! I'm game for different.
Rob and I will pass each other on Interstate 81 in Virginia. Maybe we can rendeavous somewhere at rest stop LMAO. We're having our own FOUR Christmas's :-)

My goodness so who's got Vodka??!?! LOL

Well, I can't top that Kobi but I did just call Guy just to see if there was anything they needed for dinner at the station, since I'm braving the grocery store here in a bit....
Um.... we were planning on string beans, rolls, a couple of pies, salad stuff (keep in mind that I'm already picking up a honeybaked ham and making scalloped potatoes). Okay? "Since you're going to the store anyway could you pick up everything and I'll bring it in on Christmas day?"

Nothing like finding out you have to shop for an entire dinner for 15 :-) :-)

Ahhhh... Shiba Daddy just gave Amaya and Aki candy canes.... don't know where Ayumi is.

And since it is 3:30 here its officially Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas
Mitch

Jerry we don't have meetings, we have Mini Meets!

Kobi, Eric and I are kind of doing the same. Eric is coming to Mom's tomorrow night, but will sleep at a motel while I stay with mom and take care of her, come visit and probably eat with us, then back to motel....so so close and yet so far...then go home Friday. It's nuts, but very nice of Eric to make the effort.

AND he's bringing me a jacket....whoo hoo! I left town with a pair of jeans, three black sweatshirts, and no jacket; go figure.

Tara, sounds like you're having quite the meal now :-) You're a great fire station hostess though! I know they'll be loving whatever you bring.

I can't even believe that I have one more gift to buy yet and I have to go to Costco. I am TOTALLY crazy for going there tomorrow. I better get online and figure out what their hours are. UGH!!!! It was CRAZY there on Monday as I barely got out unscathed LOL!
Be safe in the grocery store, Tara!!!!

I saw the cute little candy cane toys :-) Those people are the best furparents I tell ya! I'd like to send them my girls for 11 weeks LOL!

CB, that is so very sweet for Eric to come be with you guys. Sounds like a great Holiday either way you do it. Sometimes the unexpected & unconventional it just OK.
Rob and I are together 24/7 so one day apart will be kinda nice :-)

The proper way to cook / bake Christmas balls is to bake two at a time, but you need help as it has to be done quickly, so, I need someone to hold my Christmas balls for me.

Lordy, lordy....I'm not even gonna make it to House, MD tonight. Nighty Night, my fellow Denizens...

Hiya Gang! So the grocery was actually not too bad but you'll never believe this... I forgot to get wine and vodka!!! I must have a fever!

A lesson learned tonight --- don't do all of your shopping online on the same day. Guy and I did ours on Friday so tonight I came home to this
lots of packages
Our UPS dude must have loved us today :-)

Now off to make Roger & Karen Huff's Hawaiian Bread dip for tomorrow night.

Mitch, don't be a stranger!!!
