Good AM all. More of the s word today. I better learn to like it because it will be followed by more and more :-)

I voted today. Have you? http://fracturedeye.com/denise/denisehomepg.html

With the power out for almost a week (back to normal now) I am not ready for Christmas; no tree yet, haven't done any cards, and still gift shopping to do. It will be a busy but fun weekend.

Good morning kids. Cecil, it's going to be a fun ride home tonight. Being a Friday, heavy snow from noon till 8:00, WE ARE DEAD MEAT my friend.
All we need is one fender-bender and it will come to a total stop. I'm not in a very good mood.

morning PATRICK, Cecil, Eileen, PegiSue, Denise, and all BT'ers to follow!!

Cecil, sorry bout that. Going to be 60's here today. You can spit in my reg also
It will be in the teens this weekend though. So, I'll fit right in, in a couple of days.

Eileen, my daughter's last day also. she is ready! Yesterday, she mentioned to a couple of classmates (they were talking about interesting facts) that a polar bear's hair is actually translucent. Well, none of them knew that and this includes the teacher. This is a science teacher. Amazing that none of them gave her the benefit of the doubt. So, today she is bringing literature with her. There will be a polar bear lesson today in her class, hehe

Denise, I didn't know you were up there also with the power outages. So sorry to hear it. I would be a mess without electricity. I do have a wood stove, so we could sleep downstairs. I would not be a happy camper though.

Hope you all have a great Friday!!

Well Jerry, I got here at 5:00 this morning and I'll take an hour of vacation so I can leave at 12:30. No grid lock for me. I already had one two hour commute this week, I do not need a four hour one this afternoon.

Someone forgot to tell Old Man Winter that winter doesn't officially start till Sunday! :-( Cecil, Tom, Jerry, LaDonna, Denise, and all else up there, I would stay home today if possible, be safe, if you have to go in, leave at noon time. No one will out with all what you guys are going to get hit with. Our area is going to get it too, but not as bad, I am just hoping they de-ice my plane on Saturday so I can get to see Tiffany. I am heading south! :-) Well, I am going to give it a college try anyway, I know Gregg will get me to the airport, not sure about the plane leaving, though yet... but going to think positive, hope to be out of here before the worse hits us.

Oh, Happy Friday to all of you. Last night of work here for me till the 29th! WooHoo!

Hmmm, lots of your kids are done today with school, Brandon has school till the 23rd. What's up with that? His B'ball coach told him they will know who the "5" players will be and will let them know on Monday. We will see, I so hope he is one of the "5". He really wants it. But, you know how school coaches are, they don't always make sense in what they do. Learned that with my other two.

Krispi, I thought you were Linda posting and I'm reading how it's gonna be in the 60's today and the teens this weekend...WHAT?? What weather channel is she watching? But I was getting kinda happy about the cold weather. Then I was reading about Linda's daughter at school and got totally confused!!!!! Pardon me, I was having a moment, but it has passed. I'm back now and I get it!:-)

All of you up North, please be careful and get home safe and stay warm. I need all of you:-)

Good Morning everyone!

It's just starting to snow lightly here now. School is closed. Amanda is supposed to have a final this morning...I hope she has it and is able to come home today before it gets bad.

I plan to bake and clean. I did a bunch of wrapping last night. I need to shop a little for last minute gifts as well as food for Christmas dinner.

Good morning everyone!
I had a very foggy ride to work this morning.
PS, No that wasn't me posting about 60 degree weather today. Or were you talking about another Linda?
Ter and I have another Christmas party to go to tonight. This one is always fun. It's at his boss's home and they know how to put on a party. Lots of great food, their family (moms, dads, aunts, uncles and everyone in between), Latin music and salsa dancing. I'm going to wear my dancing shoes tonight (bare feet).

Denise, I hope you get your power back soon and enjoy the busy fun weekend ahead of you.
PegiSue, I voted!!!
Eileen, Hugs to Quinn on his last day of school this year.
Cecil, Take care driving today.
PATRICK, Yes you can say GANG. :-)
Jerry, Bring extra water, beer, coffee, snacks, mittens, and of course your coffee can, on your drive home tonight. :-)
LaDonna, Judy & Debbie, stay warm!!
Krispi, Wool Socks for sure.
Hope I didn't miss anyone.

Tom, You snuck in there whil I was yammering. Morning!

Good morning all! You are all way too funny already!

To all my Northern friends - be safe during the days ahead! My family is all in Connecticut and Rhode Island, so I feel for all of you.

Chaos goes into the groomer at 11, so he'll be pretty for Christmas. We went to the vet's on Wednesday and he's 99 lbs, so I need to put him on reduced calorie food for a while!

Then my day is cleaning. UGH! Maybe I'll start to get that durn tree up, too. Tonight is the preschool's Christmas play.

I just need to step away from this computer and get stuff done!

Freddie, easy peasy.

Ingredients:
4 6oz) salmon steaks
salt and pepper
1 tbsp maple syrup or clear honey
1 tbsp fresh chopped mint
juice of 1 lime

For the pesto:
touch of olive oil
50g / 2oz Parmesan cheese, grated
1 tbsp pine kernels
3 cloves garlic

1. In a shallow dish, combine seasoning, syrup or honey, mint and the juice from half the lime. Add the salmon and marinade for 10-15 minutes.

2. Pre heat the grill to a high heat. Lift salmon from marinade allowing excess to drip off and grill for approximately 5-8 minutes depending on thickness of salmon. Brush the salmon occasionally with the marinade.

3. To make the pesto, put all the ingredients into a food processor and pound into a paste.

Throw away salmon, save pesto for future use.

Dogs and otters - great vids. We fell in love with the Ezels on Bonaire. Particularly the orphans and young ones at the sanctuary. The small farm/ranch next to us outside Fort Worth just got a donkey (ezel) and the dogs love him. They give each other kisses through the fence. I will get pics next week when I am back in TX. However, come spring will get two young ezels for our own place to raise as pets and keep the dogs (and even the cats) further entertained. Horses will be next. This place might better be called a zoo! Can't have too many animals just like Ms. Marcos and her shoes long ago!!! Pics in the next week or so.

My son Tim is home on leave. He and some friends went up to Killington, VT on Tuesday. They were going to attempt coming home today, but I don't think that is going to happen. He called me last night. I said, "Hey man, Christmas is not until Thursday. That is why God invented beer. Have a great time." As I said this to him, I got off the phone and got very misty. Chances are real good that Tim will be spending next Christmas somewhere far far away that is not a good place.

Well, I'm supposed to be cleaning, but who can resist checking up on all you s**w bunnies.

I should be vacuuming while Chaos is out of the house, but I have a sleeping 3 yr old on my couch! I stopped at the pre-school to drop off some supplies, and Alex wasn't feeling well so I brought her home with me. Any excuse not to clean! I gave her some Motrin, we walked to the mailbox, I carried her back and deposited her on the couch and she curled up in a little ball and went to sleep. Poor baby is having a hard time shaking this cold. They're off for the next 2 weeks, so hopefully she'll get plenty of R&R over that time.

Big Bear Mountain! John and I spent our first Christmas together in a little cabin there. 1975! We were living in San Diego, and were fighting about where to go for Christmas, him to Florida, me to Connecticut, and they added another 3 month sonar school for him. So we had to stay put and have a little Christmas just for us. We found this neat place with little individual rustic cabins and stayed for 3 or 4 nights. We went horse back riding in the s**w on Christmas Day, got him on s**w skis for the first time! Went tubing! Lots of good memories.

Stay safe guys and gals up in the white world. I wish you all plenty of power in the coming days!

Baby it's coooold outside! Kidlets are sleeping, so you know what I did, went out and shovelled a layer of snow off the driveway, so that it's not too bad for the 2nd shovel tonight.

Now for a glass of wine...

Hi guys, definitely no snow down here! :-) Normal Tampa winter, low of 60, high of 80 - but we do get some cold times in January. Stay warm! I had enough of the cold in AL last week, it was in the 20's a few days. brrrr

I got to talk to my nephew last night for about an hour, and it was a great conversation. He got his birthday card and $$ already. :-) He had so many questions because my brother was never very open about things. He's doing incredibly well, and loves his new school. He said he's the smartest kid in his class. :-) (My brother had a genius level IQ, but was very quirky...) Anyway, this is all good.

You all have a great day and weekend. :-)

Cynde! LOL! Uncooperative brats.

Linda, The two biennial llama fleeces at our place are too messy for spinning, (mud, blackberries, grapes, fir needles, cedar, thistle, sheetgrass, etc.), but our neighbors send about 80 fleeces to a fiber co-op for blankets and socks and such. Shearing day is a riot. I help.

We inherited the two llamas and just keep them for grins, I suppose.

Jerry :-)
Tom :-) thank you for checking in

Did LaDonna and Denise make it home safe and sound?

I'm actually having a pretty busy day here today... figures since I want to close a little early to go home and gussy up. No complaints though, things will be what they are. I'll either have a full cash register and flat hair, or empty pockets and big hair :-):-)

Glad everyone is home safe and sound. Just found out we get to go to the neighborhood progressive dinner tonight:-) This has been one eating week!

Also, a peep went on vacation to Hawaii last week, she surfs, took her board, and broke her nose the last day. She has to have surgery on Tuesday, but she has NO family...none. So I told her that she can stay with us after surgery and we will take care of her until she feels well enough to go home:-) She's a sweet funny girl, and I feel so bad she has NO ONE to take her to the hospital, pick her up, etc. I'm gonna leave work and pick her up, and M will take over till I get home from work. I HAVE to decorate the house now! eek!

I'm glad to see some of our far northern folks still have electricity! Keep popping in and keep us updated.

I'll try to post a couple of photos.

This is the feral cat we inherited from my daughter. 'Don't worry Mom, he only lives outside! Yeah, right!

CB - Angel one has grown a lot this year! She's quite the little helper! She's having a hard time in 3rd grade. In Florida the FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Achievment Test) is the major test, and the 3rd graders get it. That's all they teach. Kira is having a hard time with the times tables, and they keep testing the kids at a 3 minute test of 40 fractions. She just can't remember them all. My heart goes out to her. Grandpa and I tell her it's a memory only thing and we'll help her over the the holidays!

BH,

Help me out here. The wether is bad down here, too.
I left the house this afternoon on the Road King. It was awfully hot even though I was just wearing a T-shirt, but I sucked up and enjoyed the ride. Tonight the temperature plummeted to the low 60's. I had my chaps and leather jacket with me so I was OK there but the fog got so thick you could cut it with a knife.
With severe, sudden cold snaps like this that cause unexpected fog, can I get fog lights for a Harley?

Thanks,
Dr. Doo
