Hi all

A day in London for me, I just voted for PS.

Some interesting Naval terms

As the crow flies:
Shortest travelling distance between two points
It was a custom to carry crows on board ships. Vessels out of sight of land would release a crow, which would naturally fly towards land, taking the most direct route. Ships would follow the path of the crow, and the lookout platform at the top of the tallest mast became known as the crow’s nest.

Eat my hat:
What will be done if something thought sure to happen, doesn’t happen
Sailors kept their chewing tobacco in their hats, the linings of which became soaked in sweat and tobacco juice. If they ran out of tobacco they would take out the linings of their hats and chew them.

Timmmy, don't you just love all the 'mportant and much needed "stuff" that is out there? A few years ago I received a plastic cow that when you lifted it's tail would dispense a chocolate covered raisin. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm-I wonder if those raisinettes are still good?

Heading out to the salt mine myself. CYA'll

John, again I thank you for the reminder of what is important. I hate the two big "C's" and their treatments - if they fail!!! Yep, whining again. Guess I need to watch Jimmy's video again.

Good Morning Everyone!!:-)

Well, it's gonna be a busy day for me! Rafe is now here...so I have Rafe & Brody (his dog)!!! Calypso has become the Alpha dog in our house, I've never seen him act so proud and tough!! Brody hasn't tried to go after the cats at all. Spice keeps egging him on, but no luck so far. Bas doesn't know what to think, but whatever Brody is, he has a tail and it looks like fun to Bas!!:-):-)

Rafe is doing good. He's happy to be here. But I bet I'm happier! He called yesterday to tell me he wanted to come here and that he was so proud of himself. He's been doing all of his work at school, not skipping, and walked away from a fight yesterday!! There is hope. But now I have to go to the grocery store and buy BOY food (ie. junk)!

AND we just found a BIG sore spot on Calypso. I don't know how I didn't notice this earlier. But it looks like a tick has gotten embedded under his skin. It's gross. So, I'm taking him to the vet VERY SOON this morning!!!:-(

Donna, thanks for linkin' me up!!:-):-)

I hope yall have a good day!! I'll be checking in when I can. I'm not used to this much dog in my house!!! Or this much teenage boy!!!!!

PS, I am so glad Rafe is with you! :-) Good luck on Calypso's sore spot, I know the vet will fix it right up.

After all the baking, I got tons of housework waiting for me when I get back. Off for a while, be good everyone!

Debbie, good luck at the docs. I hope it's nothing, he just needs that co-pay for Christmas money. Good (((vibes))) comin' at'cha!!:-)

Calypso has an appointment at 10:45. Til then I'll just have to look at the ugly, swollen, red spot. HOW DID I MISS IT???? All last nite and this morning I've done nothing but watch these two dogs and play w/ them!! G found it and told C that I don't take care of him!! That wasn't nice! Big meanie!!:-(
Calypso has been protecting me and Bas from Brody!! Bas has 23 nails, he's protected!! And Brody just loves me, so I don't need protecting, but it's good to see that Calypso has this in him. I'm so proud of him this morning. He's not at all that nervous, timid pup that he used to be. He's a TOUGH dog and he's in charge!! I love it!!:-)

He's doing great!! Not limping at all. I think he hurt his foot/feet jumping off of the counter that I feed him and Spice on in the morning. He won't even attempt jumping from there anymore. That's my sign. But, he is fine. Running around, playing, just my happy little boy!!:-)

I am going to ask this vet today what they would charge to remove just the thumb nails, just in case he has any more problems. Oh, and about (text edited)!! I am picturing all the guys cringing and grabbing themselves right now!!! (Shame on you for thinking of such things! "GEORGE!!!!)LOL

A absolutely great day to you all.

Bonaire's weather is finally back to normal again.
Resume: The wind stopped in June until Omar arrived in October and after that it didn't stop raining until about a week ago. Yes we do have the occasional shower but we also see blue skies again. Also the wind has picked up again.
So, like I said; Bonaire is back to it's same old blue skies, sunny days and comfortable breezes self again.

What am I up to today? Well, it looks like it's gonna be the first relatively quite day in weeks! So I'm going to play "catch up" with stuff that is less important but need to be done eventually.

Jos found himself wrapped around the toilet this morning. Don't know exactly what went wrong but when thing settled down a bit I gave him med to calm his stomach and put him to bed. Then I could get Marein to school and myself to work.
Just checked up on Jos and he's better now. Still a bit wobbly but definitely better. PFEUW!!!!!!

Good morning all. PS great news about Rafe, I hope it continues, I so hate to see a young person making bad decisions. I also hope Calypso is OK, my bet it's an abscess from a critter bite. Our old cat would get them occasionally, pretty nasty but they will heal after a good cleaning.

Bette...sorry to hear that Jos was praying to the porcelain god. That is never fun.

I'm still on dial-up (2 more days) so will have to wait to watch the videos until tomorrow.

Ladies...I'm super stressed about Thursday. I absolutely HATE working with "installers" and "repairmen." I have a plumber and the Uverse installer both coming on Thursday and Wes will be at work. I think my bloodpressure is going to go through the roof. I instinctively do not trust these people - even if that is irrational and I know it is. This is probably Wes' fault...he told me one too many stories about guys he works with. Sorry to whine, but this is really starting to get to me.

If any of you BT'ers are Uverse or plumber experts or close to being experts, shoot Tribs your phone number so she can call you with questions while the installations are being done.

Good luck with that. I hate changing computer/tv stuff, too. I get so corn-fused.

Linda you are too funny! My computer guru friend just converted to Uverse and I know he fears me calling him every 5 minutes while the installer is here. But it is his own fault! He said to me "our installation only took 4 hours because I already had the house wired. Your installation probably won't go as smoothly." Nice....very nice..... cough, cough, cough.

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone! Just found out that what I was told was a mis-diagnosis and all is good. Phew! That was the worst three hours of my life, one thing I know, it is time for a new doctor. One should not be allowed to tell ya really bad news and then take it back after I talked to another doctor who had the results faxed to them. Ha! So, all is good, sorry about that, but glad that it was not true. Just to be on the safe side, seeing another doc. to confirm all is good on Friday. Had results faxed to him too. Better to be 100% sure after all that.

Debbie, from what Calypso's vet said, you just need to stop licking yourself. It causes hot spots!!!!!LMAO

I'm so glad it was a mis-diagnosis, but THAT AINT RIGHT!!! A new doctor is a VERY good idea. That's what I've done and saw her yesterday. I really like her. I'm HAPPY that you are ok!!!:-):-):-)

Calypso had a tick embedded and they dug it out, he's been licking the area and that caused a hot spot, like Debbie gets!!!:-)
He also got all of his shots and doesn't have heartworms!! He was so good. He just sat there and let the vet dig in that sore!!! I wanted to bite the vet! But, I didn't have my rabies tag w/ me, so I didn't!!:-)

I took the information, on Bas's thumbs, from the other vet w/ me and showed it to this vet. The price he gave me to declaw and de-gli##er was less than half!! So, next month my little man will have a higher meow!!:-)
And he wont be able to get his thumbs stuck in mine and G's necks anymore!!!:-)

Debbie :-) so glad things turned out okay.Geez, I tell you, incompetence runs rampant these days. I was waiting so long for my MRI results because the transcriber couldn't tell if one of the words the radiologist wrote was "catastrophic" or "concurrent", so needless to say it caused a bit of stress and confusion. The doctor called yesterday to clear things up and say the results were "concurrent" to what he found last time..NOTHING!

Tom, you are CWAZY!

On a sad note, a little girl from Rajan's school passed away last night from meningitis. I am so sorry for the family. They thought she had the flu and never took her to the doctor until it was too late. The thing that really PI$$ES me off was the local media turned the school into a circus this morning.

Rajan did not know the little girl, she was in a different class but he was sad and asked a lot of questions. He seemed worried that you could not seem so sick and then pass away. I tried to reassure him and the teachers will discuss it with the kids today. So sad...

WOW - crazy day here!

Debbie - so glad to hear all is well but entirely sorry you had to go through a #$%^ed up diagnosis first. That's not right! Hugs coming at you just for dealing with that.

PS - glad to hear Calypso is okie dokie, and that Bas will be thumbnail-less and... well... the other thing will be taken care of too:-) Glad you didn't bite the vet, then you'd have been on a 10 day quarrantine. Those are never fun! :-)

Bette - glad to see you back again!

Tribs - I say start the day with some port, and have a small glass every time you think your blood pressure will rise as a preventive treatment. :-) By the time Wes gets home, you'll be happy as a clam.

R.A. - how sad about the girl from Rajan's school. Sorry to hear the media turned it into something so disrespectful. :-(

Everyone else - have a great day! We are in the middle of a blizzard - about 8-10 inches of snow already on the ground, with 1-3 more due by tonight. But the kicker is this line: "locally more snow to fall in Manitowoc county". Great - guess which county I live/work in??? Ah yes, another day in paradise.

Krispi, the health department is saying only the kids in her class and those who played with her on the playground have any exposure risk. I am keeping a close eye on my two (Rianna does not attend the same campus, she's at the middle school campus and Rajan plays on a different playground for bigger kids) and at the first sign of anything they will be on the Dr.'s office!

Krispi, that video cracked me up, man I got the moves, did you see my split??

R.A., sad for that young girl and her family understand your being upset at the media. So happy that you posted your good news. Big happy hugs for that. Watching your split had me going "OW" for the second time today.

Krisp, P.S. and I have a special thing - I guess.

Jerry, come on over buddy but, be forewarned my lease on that space runs out December 26th. Don't be sad, I am taking the Sugar Baby makers with me:-)

Beck-ee, ooo-ooo-ooo, ask me-ask me, I think I know the answer!!! Stay safe and warm - PLEASE!!!

W.H.N., stopped by to pick out a tree. I love buying trees with her, she had to look at and have me spin around about 20 trees, then she ........ picks the first or second one she looked at anyway. Of course being the sensitive and caring sum***** I am, I said "I like it alot." each of the 20 or so times I was asked. Decorate the recliner for all I care, Boris (The Wonderdog) won't mind wearing lights for a few weeks.

Bette, yes, little Miss THANG is the one without the collar. That is Ayumi. She lost her collar a couple weeks ago when she accidentally got it stuck in her mouth, she screamed so loud you woulda thunk she was being murdered.

The green collar is Aki (male), and the red collar is Amaya (female).

Glad that Jos is not home sick anymore...lol...one little space...

George, dip Freddie!

Debbie - :-) A nurse friend of mine said to keep in mind that 50% of the doctors out there graduated in the bottom half of their class!

RA - that's so very sad, but that's the way it can be with meningitis. We had a 14 yr old neighbor complain to her mom that her head hurt and she didn't feel good, so her mom let her stay home from school. When her brother got home, he called their mom and said to come quick, that Laura couldn't see. She was brain dead by the time they got to the hospital. It can be very sudden, but this single mom did the best she knew how. Everyone in the middle school was tested, and they never found out where she contracted it. My kids were little then, so they had no contact with her.

Good news on Calypso, and the future denailing of Bas! We need a pic of Brody, now!

Same ole, same ole here. Alex spent 2 hours with me here, while mommy took the car in, and we picked up Kira from school. Then met back up with mommy at their house. So I got my big girls fix for the day, and some snuggling with a 3 yr old!.

Wow....we just got some really bad news. One of the volunteers for our sister rescue center died of an anurism on Friday. We have a massive rescue going on right now. Dogs, cats, horses, birds, and rabbits. Looks like we are getting two horses. We are trying to place rabbits. Seriously, if you know anyone in the Illinois region who wants rabbits, we need homes. This is just so horrible.

Tribs, that is so sad. There is not much you can do with an aneurism, it's a catastrophic event. Michael had a coworker a few years ago, went home because he wasn't feeling well and had one in his sleep. Never woke up....

Thanks for the spelling correction. My brain was focused on the animals. This is just horrible! She was the kind, generous woman, who only gave and gave of herself. She was actually at a grocery store doing a donation pick up and fell dead right in the store. She was only 51. She has an elderly mother, whom she was the only caregiver for. Plus, she had several critters in her personal care.

It wasn't too long ago that we did a similar rescue for Abu. His owner had died and no one would take the animals.

Please, if you have pets, think to make arrangements for them. No matter how young you are!!! Sorry, I don't mean to pontificate but I'm having a really hard time with this as she was a really great lady.

terrible for sure tribs,, I had a friend that I was helping AFTER she had a car accident, she hit her head on the side panel during the accident, about 5 months after she had the accident i found her on the floor {i had to crawl through a window to get to her} she had had an aneurism , a large bleeder into the brain.. they operated to relieve the pressure and she was in rehab for 3 months.. when she came out she couldn't see to the left, she couldn't talk well and she couldn't read or do math {money] we worked for 9 months to get her to read again I would go to the library and get easy readers for her.. pre school and kindergarten books.and we would do jig saw puzzles easy at first then more difficult like the USA map... I taught her to read and write and to handle money during those 9 months.. it wasn't easy but had to be done.. I think I was doing more than her ot and pt techs were.. she still can't drive but she can shop for herself and read a book now.. her speech is still impaired slightly..i am sorry that your friend didn't make it..sometimes they do...
