Morning everyone. I just voted via Brian's link.
PATRICK, ARE YOU NO LONGER WORKING AT HOME?
Freddie, I'd love to have breakfast at your place. Coffee, please.

It's a weird day for me today. Terry and I watched our friend pass away last night from ALS. He was at home and surrounded with family and friends till the end. It was good to have a final good by with him, but still so sad. :-(

I hope this doesn't bring anyone down. He's in a much better place.

GOOD MORNING, everyone!!!

Linda, I have been thinking about you and your friend often over the last week; now I know why! THANK YOU for being there for your friend and his family; that means so much to them I just know!!! I was always so very touched by the times you would share, with us, those visits you had with he and his family!

Will be praying for this family as they deal with everything ahead of them.

big hugs to you

This week has been bad for us as there was a horiffic loss close to our family :-( It's kind of a weepy weekend here.

Oh, we have a BIG problem now...G forgot the lobster at work. He went and got "it"...well, he just came home with 3 LIVE lobsters!! OK, they are ALIVE!! I did NOT look at their faces...but I don't kill things. I don't cook live things. I need an intervention for myself...and a recipe. But I don't want to hurt them!:-(

Thanks for the hugs, girls. I'll be glad when this weekend's over! Sad indeed but am trying to uplift myself and my family.

Rob's sister's friend lost her hubby and their 13 year old daughter in a firey car crash on Interstate 81 near Lexington, VA. I81 is a horrible highway and it seems there are wrecks every day.
Not sure of all details but the car caught fire and my prayers are that they died instantly and did not suffer :-( The car was totally engulfed.
He was a heart surgeon, in Roanoke, and the daughter went to private Christian school with Rob's sister's youngest daughter.
They did NO heart surgeries, at the hospital, the day after he died and the whole school shut down. Devastating anytime of year but NOW? My SIL ran to her friends side and I just cannot imagine.
Important, again, to say I Love You every moment/chance you get as we just never know.

Um, PS :-) It won't hurt if you eat them LOL!
We went bug hunting in FL one time and that was THE most fun and THE bet food ever!!!
We took their life prior to putting them into the pot though.

Jerry can assist with an awesome recipe, I am sure,
Lucky gal......I bet they're gonna taste YUMMO!!!!

The Take Home Chef cooked one the other day. I watched that show, and I remember most of it. He put it in the freezer prior to the pot, so it didn't feel anything. I know, I'm crazy. Anyway, I believe he put it in the oven after w/ butter and garlic and fresh herbs on it. I know I CAN do it, it's just, I've never done anything like this....
NOW, if it was lobster season and I got to make a dive to get them, maybe I'd be more excited about it!!

Kobi, sad news indeed. Proves yet again we never know the day or the hour of our passing.

Jerry, show P.S. how to properly grill those babies.

Well our much qualified part time helper just arrived and:

1. considering the fact that only one person needs to be here this morning and
2. the double reminders of how important "today" is,

I'm heading out for a bit to go sit with my Mom.

Be well and don't forget to tell those you love that you love them folks.

I love you guys. (keep the foot down PATRICK)

Linda, big hugs coming your way. I lost a friend from ALS too. She was one of our Bunko gals. I'm glad you were there for him at the end.

Kobi - big hugs to you too. How sudden and devastating that is for you SIL's friend. I don't know how you help someone through that. Just cry with them, I guess.

We are off to a huge holiday bash tonight at one of our friends. They throw awesome parties and it is sure to be a blast, it is Persian themed and we will eat, belly dance and make merry.

I'm back from running errands and blackbelt shopping!

Thank you guys! I can always count on you all to be out "there" as a shoulder and sounding board.
The family members lost were friends of my SIL. The woman, in an instant, lost her only child/daughter and her dear husband :-( She feels alone but we have told her you are never alone!

Gail, I'm with you as I truly know how to cry but just never know what exactly to say when something so devastating happens. Crying is often all that can be done/shared.

RA, have a blast tonight. OK we want belly dance pictures LOL! I mean, OMG, I'm excited to hear about such a cool bash!
SO glad Rianna and friends had a great time. I pretended I was eating cupcakes with you guys albeit from afar :-)

I just have to share this :-)
Our Virginia Tech Hokies are in Tampa playing a championship game today against Boston College.
Rob has his VA Tech Hokie T shirt on, his Hokie underwear on and his Hokie shorts on. Now surely to goodness, with all that coverage, we have to win?!?! LMAO

I got Rob motivated earlier this AM and we took off to Cracker Barrel for breakie. Then off to the shop for a few to get the mail. From there we went to KMart. TOTALLY not my favorite store and go there maybe once every 2 years :-) We had a gift card that was about a year old that we wanted to blow and blow we did!
I got a few nice gifts for the ladies, at the Hoppner House, in Bonaire. Still have a few more things to grab this weekend for the boys and then I will entrust the Brown plane/truck to get my goodies to the island before Christmas!!

We are back home watching the plasma; Hokies just scored so it's gonna be a good day after all.

PS, hope you have hooked up with our resident chef to get some great ideas for the crustatians :-)

I have been singing all morning and Rob's about to b**ch slap me! I dunno why; tis the season buddy!

Hey, guys. I'm home this Saturday; I'm in town even though I have to go work. The big old Palace Hotel throws a series of private parties over the holidays, and I make it a point to be available to tune for them...they're very nice folks.

Kobi and Linda, you and the families have my best thoughts.

I just got an email telling me that my old old friend just entered hospice care for liver cancer, having run out of treatment options. When they realized the end was coming, he and his longtime girlfriend got married, and the video of the ceremony was included in the mail...oh, my...lots of tears and smiles...

What a year it has been for us all, huh?

RosAnne, I'm gonna try to deliver the sweatshirts to Laguna Honda this week, I think. I could even come get yours tomorrow afternoon if there will be anything left of you after all the partying. Eric is coming with me while I do this job today(they have a great sports bar), and we're delivering the toys together before that. Ho Ho Ho...

CB, it's good to see you here!
Hugs to you today and always; I'm sorry about your friend and hate that nasty C word :-( That is so very tough but I am glad his wife is by his side. Please tell him people he doesn't even know will be thinking of them both!!!

Thank you for doing some HO HO HO delivering; that really warms your heart doesn't it?!

Hi, Kobi! I've given to this same place for years, and I'm afraid he kids see me coming even though Santa's supposed to give out the gifts. It's fun....

RosAnne helped me collect sweats for the county run convalescent hospital this year(thanks, RosAnne). It's the place you go if there's nowhere else, and a clean, warm sweat is a good gift....

My friend Duffy is five years younger than I...we got each other into plenty of trouble back in the day, so to see him so frail is pretty hard. BUT he's surrounded by folks who love him.

Enough. Enough...

Barbara, Oy Vey, sorry about your friend, wow, it has been a tough year. Hospice will take very good care of him, strange how we just talked about hospice this week. I make a donation every year to them, they took wonderful care of my mom and want them to be able to continue what they do.

Tomorrow will be a hectic day as it is Rianna's actual b'day so I am not sure we will be around. How about we meet somewhere Monday? You tell me where and I will be there! Ravi doesn't believe me that I haven't developed some weird fetish for sweat shirts and that's why I have a collection in my garage! He will be happy to see them go to a good cause! I will call you either later or tomorrow.

RosAnne, I forgot that the party continues on Sunday(boy has THAT phrase changed meaning over the years!). Next week is just insane for me, but I don't have my book here to see...let me check.

What would be fun would be for both of us to go, have lunch up there, and do the drop. The sweats don't have to go as soon as the toys, so we'll figure it out...

I just sent you mail...not sure why I wanted to share that thing with you...

OK, I am chilled to the bone. Y'all are gonna laugh or better yet smack me if I share this BUT I am still not letting go of wearing my flip flops LOL! Breakfast time came & I just grabbed them in the garage shoe area and ran to the car with Rob. UM, it was 32 degrees LOL!

I say as long as there is NO SN*W on the ground let the flip flops be worn!!!!

Santa Barbara, I'm so sorry about your friend, but glad he's takin' care of his bucket list:-)
It has to be wonderful to be w/ his WIFE and family and friends now and to know that he is so loved, and he does know. I feel for you. Hospice is an amazing thing. I could never say enough good things about them. They sure know how to handle things, taking care of the patient and everyone else involved. (((HUGS))) to you.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Rob and I are discussing the upcoming travel schedule for the Holiday and his birthday and other December family birthdays. Traveling with the girls or without the girls. Having the three musketeers sometimes makes it fun to travel.
Talked to a very nice pet sitter today so maybe we'll be doing some business sometime soon. My other, AWESOME, sitter actually works for us and she is fabulous. She is always first choice!
She loves the girls and loves staying here.

Pegi - I voted from every computer station in my clinic before I left - that was 8 votes :-) for all 3 paintings :-) Then when I got home I voted again. I'm pulling for you, girlfriend!!!

Santa Barbara (I think I like this nickname better than "CB") and all the rest of you fine folks that make other people's holidays wonderful - hugs from here. You are incredible and selfless people and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

hugs

I'm off to feed horses before dark and then head back to the clinic to check on some patients (one a very sweet pitbull girl who ate a toy and had to have it removed the hard way, she's doing well - and the other is just a frail diabetic dog who's boarding and needs his insulin injection). After that broasted chicken with a friend and her two fuzzy pups! No chicken for the pups though, that's ours. :-)

Speaking of pups... I'm sort of kind of maybe possibly looking into getting a new member of the family, maybe. The litter is a week old, but there are a couple possibilities :-) The only bad thing, is they would be going to new homes in late January... the thought of potty training in 4 feet of snow and -20F temps is daunting. I'm just not sure the timing is correct - but then again, when is it ever?? :-)

Here's the litter:
collie puppies

IF (and that's a big if) I get one, it might be one of the two circled pups. They are collies, by the way. The two circled are smooth coated females.

Pegi - I know the timing is never right:-) I hate the thought of piddle pads, but I did just buy a spot carpet cleaner :-) so I guess the timing will be ok IF I decide Jingles needs a playmate. Nothing is definite yet... the breeder is cool with my interest being just a "possiblity", too.

I totally understand your feelings.
Been there, done that; minus the snow though!

We got Bubbles in January and all she knew was snow that first few weeks. We own stock in the wee pad company:-) Thankfully Bits and Bini know what they are for and in emergencies hit it everytime. Miss Thang/Bubbles has NO idea what they are for. She thought they were for making snow when she was wee little. She outgrew that thankfully!

We'll be here to support you whatever you decide! I hope you do though cause we're puppy fools around here :-)

Not snowing here yet, but soon, very soon.

I have been playing with fried oysters, I think I have it down pat now. NO SAULT!

Tonight I did the oysters as a starter, grill paned some beef tenderloin with mushrooms and a beef glaze with a port wine reduction, not bad!

The bunko party was great! No spam, so I was disappointed with the food. Just ham, loaded baked potato casserole, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, curried fruit, and assorted salads and dessert. But we still had fun anyway!

Be careful about the runts. We took the runt of the litter almost 3 years ago because we wanted a small golden retriever. If this RUNT is 95 lbs - what do his brothers weigh!!!????? That litter was 5 males and one female..... (The female is probably 90 lbs!!!!)

Anyway, Bunko party was lots of fun. We've been together 16 years, just figured it out tonight. Many members have moved in and out, but five original of the twelve have toughed it out together. Way cool.
