A few of you might remember my friend, Paul Zway (for a while he posted such beautiful photos of sunrise/sunsets). He used to be a game warden in Kruger National Park in South Africa and came to the US after poachers put threats on his children....
any rate he now travels the world erecting beautiful Safari Tents for private homes, resorts, etc.
I had to share this story from his latest newsletter:

"An interesting story and occurrence, sent to us from a client, of the Mfuwe Lodge in the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia where the lodge was unwittingly built on the Elephant's traditional path through some wild mango trees on the property.

A herd of about a dozen elephants walks through the lodge's reception area at least twice a day for about 4 weeks and then sporadically for about another 3 weeks to feed on the trees as they move through their traditional route."
just strolling through

You can read more of his adventures on his blog Exclusive Tents
I'm not trying to sell anything -- I promise. Paul is just a jewel of a friend and one of the last great adventurers. He reminds me of a land-version of Capt Don. His stories are amazing.

I remember! (What a shame that his children were threatened.) I remember some of the pics of tent homes, too. This is really awesome. It is said here that there are seasonal immigration paths for snakes and alligators, and when subdivisions are built, they still follow the same path through the neighborhood. Is that why that rattlegator was in my yard!?

Wow. Fabulous.

There used to be(I bet it's gone now) a kind of resort in the middle of nowhere in Zimbabwe, just a modest place where people would go for a week, drink, eat, and put their feet up.

It had a pool, which was nice, except that one particular elephant took to stopping by every afternoon and hopping in, wallowing around, having a drink and a poop, then moving on.

So, every late afternoon, a bunch of guys would empty the pool, hose it out, and refill it for the guests....became quite a local attraction...

I cannot remember the name of that place. It's going to drive me nuts.
