We are going to take the plunge, the bundled plunge. We are trying to decide between the Comcast Bundle phone/internet/cable and AT&T U-Verse Bundle phone/internet/cable. I have a neighbor on Comcast, who is not too pleased with it. However, I don't know anyone using AT&T U-Verse. Any feed back on either service would be greatly appreciated. I am very nervous bundling all of this with one company, but the money we will save is too good to pass up.

We have Comcast at home. Service has been good. Price keeps going up. Not much else I can say.

Morning Tribs! I thought the "bundled plunge" had something to do with babies! Then I read on. :-)
Ter and I struggled with the same decision several weeks ago and decided to go with Verizon's Vios package instead of the Bright House Networks package. We had heard good and bad about both, but when Ter heard that the "box" Verizon uses is easier to use.....

Jahneen, about 9 months ago, Pam and I switched over to the Comcast Bundle. Tho we had concerns with switching our phone service over, the transition was flawless and the savings are enjoyed.

Tribs, we don't have a bundle, but we do use AT&T for our dsl internet. Never a problem with the internet portion:-) Good luck, and just think, YOU CAN OPEN BIG THREADS AND VIDS!!!

I didn't have access to either company - living in the sticks like I do, but my local phone company bundled my phone, DSL, and satellite (DISH network) quite painlessly when I moved in last year (it's been a year, can you believe it???). DSL was cheaper the first 3-6 months, but then it went up...

I just pay the bills and basically don't complain since I'd been stuck with dial-up since 1999. :-) Good luck, and as everyone told me: welcome to the 21st century!!! LOL:-)

I come from the other side, I have had broadband/cable since the early 90's and do not know another existence ... dial-up what's that? I started with Cablevision who were brought by somebody, who were brought by ATT, who were brought by somebody else, who were brought by Comcast. Same connection, same bandwidth, same service, with four different mailing addresses for the check each month which has slowly crept up, kind-of in-line with inflation. Which leads to a story of how I finally got cable tv.

We moved into the house and the house and neighborhood were pre-wired for cable. So I thought we would have cable pretty quickly. I called the cable company and they said a couple of weeks. A couple of months went by with no cable and they were still saying a couple of weeks.

So I got an old roof antenna from a friend and went out in the woods beside the house. Got a hammer and some rope, tied the rope to the hammer and threw it as high as I could over a couple of branches up in the trees. I tied the antenna to the rope and hauled it up into the trees facing Boston. We got great reception. Sue took one look at that and bet me it would not last two weeks.

Two years later, antenna still up in the trees and still no cable. I finally broke down and brought a nice antenna and installed it high on the chimney. Two weeks later, we had cable.

Now some would bemoan the irony of that story, I on the other hand just consider it another case of cause and effect. The cable people were driving around the neighborhood and saw that antenna in the trees and they said, these people are not serious about TV, no cable for them. When they saw the properly installed antenna, now they are serious, cable for them. Kind-of like cable nazis.

Linda - that is hilarious!

Sorry to post and run like that this morning. I had to go to class. Cecil, nice way to look at things.

I'm guessing we are going to end up with AT&T. We can keep our phone number, keep the same email address, and they provide all of the equipment. With Comcast we have to add extra equipment, new number, new email address.

I will be happy! It just took 34 minutes to download an email about Mansions. Bring on the highspeed internet! :-)

OMG Tribs - you will think you've died and gone to heaven when you start downloading those emails on DSL! Yippee for you!!

My computer guru son says that cable internet is faster than DSL, but I the reason I have cable is that DSL is/or at least was not available here. I want to bundle myself, but the digital phone service through my internet/cable provider is not available here. :-(

We are not getting the DSL. They don't offer it in my area. I wish they did because it is only $9.99 a month - way cheaper than what we are getting. We are going with the U-Verse package. Well...that is if I can get the website to open. I have been trying to place the order since 7:00 and can't get the pages to open. I might have to wait until Monday when I am on campus. I really hate dial-up.

Bummer, Tribs. Does that mean you will still be on dial-up or will you have cable internet?

I'm still trying to get into the website. I will be totally wired, wifi included, once I get the entire system set up. It will be pretty nice. I might actually go to my office today and sign up because this is driving me nuts! I keep getting caught at a specific page and can't seem a way to bypass the page to place my order. It has been sitting on that page now for almost an hour. I hate that "please wait" notice.

Beck-ee LOL! I won't touch the stuff under my desk. I've given up for now. I can't get the page to open and while I was on the phone chatting with Patrick, the computer actually crashed. I'm done. I will wait until I get back to campus.

That bites that your 'puter crashed! Did you get the famous "blue screen" - EEEK!!!

It's a strange morning here at work... everyone is coming on time (a real rarity, I have now just jinxed myself!!!) and it's all going smoothly. I do have my "A" team working with me though... so it's all good! Getting lots of puppy kisses, too... so that's a bonus!:-)

You betcha! I got that horrible blue screen. It is the first time I have gotten that one on this computer.

Glad the puppies are friendly today. :-)

Thank you everyone who chimed in about your experiences, off and on this thread. We went with AT&T for one major reason - we couldn't get Comcast to answer our questions. The little things I posted above were just bonus issues. I'm guessing that customer service varies for Comcast. Some of you seemed to love them and some of you not so much. We were trying to use an on-line deal, but they didn't have all of the information on the website. I sent an email asking 4 straightforward yes/no type questions and the reply was call in. I replied and said will I still be able to use the on-line deal and was told no, but could try using the live chat. Well...live chat does not work very well on dial-up and I could not get their software to load. I sent another email and never got a response.

I do have to admit, I like keeping my phone number and email address. So that is the icing on the cake. Now...let's hope I don't regret the choice. :-)
