Good morning all. The big day is finally here and the long waited for......death....of those stinking political ads. I swear many of them were written by ex used car salesmen. My candidate was driven by a little old lady from Pasadena who only went to rallies on Sunday.

The really scary part is, I heard a pundit the other day saying, only 1461 days till the next vote.

PS, voted for you today! :-)

Terry got up early on his day off and went to Mickey D's to get me coffee before I left for work. :-):-) He slipped out of the house while I was showering - I didn't even know he was gone. HA!

Julia, Glad your back and that you had a great time. Can't wait for pictures and report later.

For all those who haven't voted yet.....DO NOT go vote it's all over the early voters have already decided it.....just save your time don't go stand in no lines...your time is way to valuable hey if you go to the high dollar coffee joint they will give you a free drink and all you have to do is say you voted....you really didn't have to....they will take your word for it.

One vote really isn't going to make a difference anyhow.....and you could probably get time off work and just go to Wally World and shop....or take an extra hour for lunch.

It's all rigged anyway you see how they do the military folks to toss them out of the equation.

Just like the lurkers on here...they sit back and just watch(read)....and don't have an opinion they just go along with the flow....they may be the smart ones.

It would not be any different than if you sent me your paycheck and let me decide how you were going to spend it. Your rights and FREEDOM's are at stake even if you do not realize it...and more than that the future of your kids and grandchildren.....don't listen to the hipe......be educated in your choice

Just got back, voting done. :-) Can't say I really care for either of them, but picked the best of the two evils so to speak. Seemed to be the theme today, no one was happy about either one in our town. Now, to get house ready for in-laws. Less than 48 hours and counting.

Denise, Yes, got the ceilings covered.

Nice reverse psychology there BH! :-)

Ok folks....I left at 9:58, walked to my precinct and was back home at 10:22. No lines whatsoever. There was this sweet old man having problems with the machine, but we have odd dial type machines here. They helped him out and off he went. No issues, no lines, and I even got to walk with a neighbor I haven't seen in a very long time. :-)

I am off to Headquarters for a LONG day. Thanks to all of you who have voted, and for those who haven't please do! Listen to BH...he knows what's up.

I am very appreciative of the civil way the election has been discussed on BT (see, we can talk about controversial issues without fighting!) I'm sure many of us have chose different candidates for many different reasons but the fact that we care and want our voice heard and do so with passion motivates me.

Have a great day and I'll be up late schmoozing so I'll check in here periodically.

Folks I have to apologize I used the words
"it's not just your right"

That was incorrect I will not go in to the details but, HJR 28 is a Constitutional Amendment to address the issue.

We can start HH now if you like. :-)

Chances are this election night is going to be a long one. So while the talking heads and journalists are babbling away, play our drinking game to pass the time.

In keeping with the night's political theme, we recommend you arm your guests with red and blue drinks (see ideas below).

Take a sip of your red drink if:
- McCain wins a state.
- Anyone utters the word "maverick."
- Joe the Plumber makes an appearance. (double points if he's gotten his plumber's license)
- A pundit implies that Sarah Palin is hot.
- Someone refers to Barack Obama as a socialist.
- Anyone says anything nice about George Bush.

Take a sip of your blue drink if:
- Obama wins a state. - Anyone utters the word "historic" in reference to Obama's campaign.
- Hillary Clinton makes an appearance. (double points if Bill shows up too)
- A pundit implies that John McCain is senile.
- Someone mentions Tina Fey.
- Anyone says anything nice about John Kerry.

Take one sip from both drinks if:
A news anchor declares that a race is "too close to call."

Throw in the towel if:
A news anchor announces that, once again, Florida is the presidential tie-breaker.

Blue Drinks
Jones Blue Bubblegum Soda
Blue Moon beer
Blue Jell-O shots

Red drinks
Red Bull
Red Stripe Beer
Red Jell-O shots

You don't have to worry about getting slapped. Just read the US Constitution. The right to determine voting qualifications was originally given to the States. There have been a few amendments to the Constitution (15th, 19th, 26th) that affect voting as well as a couple of laws that were passed to prohibit poll taxes etc... However, it is a fact that it is up to the states to determine eligibility of voters, so long as they do not violate what is in the Constitution. Be careful with a google search. There is a lot of BS out there on this one. The big issue is that it is a federal vs. states' rights issue. Should the federal government take over all of voting or should this remain a state area of power.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Gail T.** (Supreme BonaireTalker - Post #3508) on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 - 2:08 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

I went to my polling place, with no waiting, got my ballot and had to wait about a minute until a booth opened up. Since I had my sample with me, it took all of 7 minutes in the door and out. Excellent! Then I went over to the pre-school, chattered with the kids a bit,and got Josh and Chudney's absentee ballot.

I had to take them to the supervisor of elections office downtown. It was a block away from I-4, and I pulled into the parking lot I was asked if I was dropping off ballots, and how many. I told him three and he gave me 3 stickers. He directed me to move forward to the next lady, and she took the ballots and immediately put them in a slot to a metal VOTE box. Head on back to the highway, and was back to the church in a 40 minute round trip. I praised the poll workers for their efficiency and speed.

Then, since the pre-school had 3 teachers out sick, I volunteered to stay and help out in the 3 yr old room. Chudney was there with 10 kids, and whereas she could have gotten by, it's so much easier with 2 adults supervising.

So I had a busy morning!

Way behind the clock now, my glasses got a chip in them, had to go get a new pair, but also needed an eye exam, been two years, and it took forever, back home, made dinner, off to work and then to pick up new pair, I will have to get up wayyyy early to catch up, company will be here tomorrow night. What does one have to always have a spotless house for guests? I prefer the lived in look. Now, I have to find homes for all my piles. :-) See ya.

Hi Tink, no I've been resisting joining FB, just not enough time or should I say apprehensive about the extra time it would make me spend online !! I'm already a member of Geeks Anon !! :-)

I've been getting a few invites, and I do like the sound of those games you play, I used to do msn games via messenger

Well Roy, when you do fall to the temptation of FB, but sure to send us all friend requests so we know you are on it. :-)

Wes just got home from voting. No lines. He waited about a minute for a machine. Some poor guy was turned away however; but, it was because he was at the wrong location.

Hi all, waiting on two things tonight, results of Caymus' time at the doctors and results of today's voting.

When I got to the polls this morning there were huge lines except for people with last names starting with A, B and C. As I walked up to pick up my ballot some friends in the other lines asked how I rated. I told them it might have to do with changing my last name to Aardvark:-) W.H.N. wasn't so lucky, it took her about an hour:-)

Hey, Jerr/Skippy, am waiting for a tenderloin to rest, same as I did at your place. Chilled tomatoes with B.V. and blue cheese seemed like a good salad. Lazy, ain't I?:-)

P.S., wish you were here to help with the mushroom/onion/rosemary tonight, I cried cutting the onions. Besides I like having a lady help in the kitchen:-):-):-)

Gotta go, meat to carve.

TTYL

PS, Did you pull your finger instead of the pork? Is that why it smells?

Freddie's looking good on the island with her BT flag.

I've been staying away from the television and watching the polls. Instead I've been updating my blog with new fun holiday projects. Well I think they're fun! :-):-)

We did a mail in vote last week for Grandad and we voted today. Glued to the TV now but wanted to check in and tell that Grandad has had a good day today. He started eating actual food and they took out the IV so thats a big deal. I miss playing here all day. Maybe he'll be better soon and I can get back to "normal" activities. tee hee
