Good Monday Morning! I still cannot believe it's November. This morning I'm trying to cut back on carbs...no I AM cutting back on carbs for the week and giving my self some "freedom" on the weekends in a last ditch effort to get some of this poundage back off!!

And tomorrow is Election Day in the US....I won't even GO there!!

Kristi what a beautiful place you hiked! It looks like a wonderful place to put in a kayak for an afternoon paddle. Very serene.

Guy and I had a great weekend - we drove 2 hours south to a Retirement party. It was a surprise/costume (Cops and Robbers theme) party. Very fun and Charlie was totally blown away by how many came from all over. He was on SWAT in Roseville and served the PD for over 30 years - very great guy.

We rented a Toyota Prius for the drive --- We only used 5 gallons of gas for the whole 300 plus miles. We always rent a car for trips since our cars don't have airbags, etc. but getting a hybrid was awesome. It was only $34/day (only $10 more than a standard car) and obviously saved a lot more than that in gasoline.
Tons of laundry to do today, a couple of hours of phone-banking and then EMT with my Lipstickers tonight..... sounds like a good day for me

Thanks for the photos. I really miss fall. We'll be back in the 80's again this week. I need some crisp air to get me motivated to tossing out the accumulated stuff. Why do we need so much stuff? We had a big wall unit with lots of display and storage space, and when we got the plasma, we went with a low profile cabinet with just enough space for the components. The stuff that came off the wall unit has been in boxes for 2 1/2 years....... And we haven't missed the photos, books, knick knacks, etc. But I can't just throw them out. Arg!

Eileen - You have all the mommie/grandma help and support you need here!

I read on another thread that the ladder and platform are back up at oil slick.... Good job! Those waves had to be huge to come that far over shore there. I'd have been a bit nervous too!

I'm outta here.... very very sadly my route to the phone bank will be different as a there is a big standoff going on over the freeway. A fellow in fatigues, mask, waving a flag and a gun has taken up position on a bridge over the freeway so it has been shut down since 7am. My route isn't on the freeway but the surface streets where everyone has been diverted.

Eileen, that's O.K., you gotta have a little "me" time every now and then to be able to be the "super" mom you are! You are doing great, I remember those years like yesterday and it is a smart mom who knows that "me" time is a good thing to be able to do a great job mothering those adorable kids of yours. I remember that commercial on TV a long time ago that went: "Calgon, take me away!" That was "me" time for me, used to lock the door and just take Calgon time, hubby knew to not disturb me when I was there. LOL!

Ok, my own dinner is ready, honey bbq wings, cheese tortolini in alfredo sauce, and steamed asparagus.

Made it thru Monday!

And I got a laugh out of this day. Was sitting on the lanai as the sun set, and two neighborhood fishermen came to the gazebo at the end of the fishing pier. I KNEW the bats (there are thousands in the roof of the gazebo) would fly out on them. Have to admit, I got more than one chuckle watching them dodge and run and talk about the bats. lol

Well, we all learn the hard way, I suppose.

Bats are in the thousands, 20 bugs for every bat, so they are necessary here. As are screens!
