I have purchased my airfare and dive package for 18-25 APR 2009 for my first trip to Bonaire. Will be staying at Eden Beach, diving with Wannadive, and not sure where my truck is rented from but I got one. The problem is I am stuck in Kosovo on deployment with no water anywhere near me and I'm going crazy in anticipation. I will be home sometime in March and this trip is sorta my welcome home gift from me. I wind up reading BT at work for hours on end (I'm not too busy at work) and I think it's not helping my problem. I have read about post-Bonaire depression but do you folks have any cure for pre- Bonaire anxiety? Just to put an end to your first thought alcohol is against the rules here.

Thanks for letting me vent any help appreciated.

Mitch

Mitch, first, thank you for your service:-)

Second, welcome to BT.

Third, nope, only cure is when you step off that plane and smell that fresh bonaire air:-)

Mitch, Welcome to Bonaire Talk!! Thanks for your service to our country. I hope your "welcome home" gift is everything you hope for and more. I have only gone to Bonaire fifteen times and don't think it is everything, everyone says it is. Will probably have to go back myself someday just to verify:-)

Freddie, methinks your reports should be done at 6 am 12 noon and 6 pm. Have fun today!!! GOT COFFEE?!?!

Hi all, you too PATRICK!!!

Welcome Mitch and also thanks for your service. Five trips to Bonaire, four times at Eden Beach. Bonaire is just OK, not a lot different then Budva in the summer, the water is a little warmer and clearer and more fish and the beer's colder, the sun is bit hotter, oh, and the food is a bit better and there's palm trees and lizards.

Oh there is one other thing to differentiate the two places, no one will be shooting at you, ever.

Have a great trip and we exist all hearing all about it, with pictures.

What you will soon be viewing.

Welcome Mitch!!!!
As said and sincerely meant from all of us a HUGE
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!!!
I think you found the only medicine (there is no cure) for Pre-Bonaire-Anxiety.... BT!!!
Doctor's orders are hours upon hours of reading trip reports (doesn't matter how old they are) and gazing at the pictures (turning your head in either direction helps to see the fishies better), study on fish ID is a must, pre-planning a few restaurants to check out and printing favorite threads, links and maps (okay so I had a 3 ring binder by the time I went!).
This community can get you through and before you know it, you'll be sweating away in a pink airport waiting for your luggage :-):-)

Good on ya!

As luck would have it the internet crashed out here for a couple of days so I couldn’t respond when I wanted to but better late than never. Thanks for all of your support. I enjoy being a part of the Army and it’s good to know there are people who support us. Keep those pictures and reports flowing, they help keep what little bit of sanity I have left. If yall get bored of pics of paradise I will try to send some pics of the next top vacation destination of Kosovo LOL.

Cecil, lucky for me there is no shooting at all over here but I still get the hazard duty pay.

Thank you all for the support
Talk soon
Mitch

Glad you're back. I was wondering what happened to you.

When I was in, I was on a sub, I got hazardous duty pay and no one was shooting at me. It does not mean I was safe, remember the Thresher and the Scorpion. Mitch keep your head down and your buddies safe.

Not Bonaire but a great sentiment.

There are a LOT of us here who support our troops:-):-) and a few of us have kids that are serving. My son is in the AF, and another's a Marine:-)

OK, a couple more to whet your appetite:-)

How about a couple of pictures per day, till you're bored, go to Bonaire, we forget, we get bored or you take a vacation in Albania.
