I hope everyone has a beautiful day...I have a hectic, but good, weekend planned...work today, Amanda home for a little tonight, meet a friend on Sat, pick Andrea up, Sunday visit a different church and go to the zoo with a friend and her family (if her kids aren't sick) and then take Andrea back to school...

Last Gap (for the day)
After again reaching Rt 100, I went north through one of the most "Scenic" rides in the state. Sorry I didn't take more pics here as it is spectacular which is why the state of Vermont declares it to be one of the prettiest areas in Tha Republic. I was too involved enjoying this beautiful valley's winding road, along brooks, beaver dams, old farms etc, until I stopped at a rest area in a section called Granville Gulf I stopped for about a half an hour.

During the time I was in "Tha Gulf" it is possible that ten cages drove by, too fast to soak in the surroundings, don't understand that mentality. 6 geezer rides went by, four solo, two riding two up, all taking their time enjoying nature's show. Tho the next two pics aren't the best and they don't capture the "quiet" surroundings, I had to post them.
pond in the gulf
quiet

Heading north, down out of "Tha Gulf" (localese) I cruised along more winding road through little "Boros" (small groups of houses) past Sugarbush Ski area (lots of Tads and Buffys live here) along the river until I reached the outskirts of "Waitsfied". At Waitsfield I turned east on Rt. 17 for what would end up being my last gap ride of the day. A gradual incline and sweeping turns take you along the Mad River until you reach the parking lot at "Mad River Ski Resort" where the real fun begins with a right hand sweep which has a 15 degree climb as soon as it straightens you are in a left hand (tighter) sweep) and on and on and on and up and up, sweeps, short straights, switchbacks, awesome views of the valley until you reach the rest area at the top of App Gap. Hung out on the top for a while watching logging trucks making the 15+ climb up from the foothills.

tick, tick, tick
ya don't get the feeling I got from a postcard

I left this peak when a couple of crotch rockets showed up, their riders screaming about how fast they made it up - the fools. Enough of that noise, I headed down to the area where I used to hang out before I met W.H.N. and she started "civilizing" me:-).

Down, 15 degree grades, again sweeping turns, short straights, switchbacks, I love these types of hills when climbing but.....GOING DOWN IS ALMOST AS GOOD AS SE* I hope my saddle returns to it's normal shape - WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Again, I apologize that I didn't take more pics but, I stopped a few times remembering why, it was these hills I returned to several times, to escape people and places, to recharge, in my younger years.

When I reached Rt 116, I checked my cell phone (damn technology), discovered Katie was sick so I called my riding any more gaps - for that day and headed home.

Wasn't going to post this pic, it was taken by a nice couple that were "birding" in the Brandon Gap.
wish I had Fluffy at that moment.

Thanks for tolerating my posts.

Morning Everyone!

Thanks Tom! You are looking good. :-) Wonderful photos.

Had a gun scare at my son's school today, can you believe an underclass (7th grader) was going to bring in guns and all? I had no intentions of sending my Brandon to school till I talked to the school. Lots of kids heard about it, High School, elementary and a teacher overheard some kids talking about it, thank goodness. A very serious situation has now be avoided. School handled it swift and well. I just got back from driving my son to school. Such a shame the way the world is when evil reaches in like that. :-(

But, on the bright side, I got to see some lovely fall footage on the way to school, glad that Brandon will be safe in school today and will be able to play his away soccer game again, only glitch to this is that I got to go to the doc's for a colonoscopy appt. to set it up, seems they make you come in first to see the doc before setting up the testing. Heck, but after all what happened, this is light action. :-) Life is still good. :-)

Good Morning everyone!
Donna, Tom, I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed your photos. It's been too long since I've been in that area. Tom, So many childhood memories came back to me while I was checking out the photos you posted late last night. I especially like the pictures of the exposed rock in those crazy old mountains. Dad used to take us climbing the Blue Hills in Mass and Mt. Washington in NH. Those were some fun, fun times for me.
Eileen, I think of everyone on BT as my age or close to it. Your Mom is only 1 year older that me. :-):-):-)
Debbie, It's a scary world out there these days. I'm happy that your son is out of harms way. Geesh!!!
Freddie, drive safely and watch out for motorcycles.
Jerry, yes, we want pictures of your drive to work.
Judy, have a great day.

(bad Tommy Jo). Really loved fingerpainting then, mmmmmmmmm, the paints, so pretty and good to eat too:-) ROTFLMAO

Eileen, give your Momma a birthday hug for me. Ifen yor Dad aynt 'round, giv hur ah lil spank rite on tha ....... STOP RIGHT NOW BEAU!!!!!

Okay Jerry, I do have another 374 to post, in some there are trees:-)

Linda, an old flame and I used to take weekend trips to hike the Carter and Moriah Ranges, fond memories of good times then. There were perigrine falcons over those ledges, couldn't capture them but it was awesome.

Thanks to all that enjoyed them, sorry the quality suc**, this Cannon has been giving me issues. (My excuse to get a better one. shhhhhhhhhhhh don't tell W.H.N.) If you didn't enjoy them, did I tell you I had another 374 I am dying to share?ROTFLMAO!!!

Off to see Melissa, hope she wants to show... er, wash my hair again:-) Hope Hairdrether Rollllland isn't there, hate it when he smiles at me. Been practising my sneering and growling this morning in case he is around.

CYA LATER POOF

Almost forgot, PATRICK I SAW YOUR POST WHERE YOU ASKED IF THERE WAS ROOM FOR YOU ON VIXEN AND....
that just aint right bro, just the thought of you "holding on" just aint right. Wanna meet Rollland, he probably has a moped.

Back from doc's, can you believe they scheduled the dang test for day before Turkey day? Well, all I can say is that I will have lots of room for turkey! :-) (sorry, couldn't resist that one).

Happy Birthday to Eileen's mom.

Had to put up my leaf fence yesterday, they are tumbling down here big time. Love them on the trees, but not so much in the yard, that means work.
Now, where is that leaf blower? I got one of those ones ya can wear on your back and just hold the blower, very cool, I love gadgets like that.

Good morning all - Tom and Donna I am lovin' the pics. Since I did FIND my camera yesterday now all I have to do is FIND the download cable so I can share the ones from last weekend's walk.

Yeah this weekend it's time to put the pond netting over the koi pond to keep the leaves OUT of the pond...and the daggum heron if he decides to show up again this fall/winter. Also time to take out the edge plants from the pond, pull out the pool cover for the guys to close down the pool and put up the outdoor furniture. sigh - I GUESS it's fall now.

Here are a few more pictures from our "homecoming" court yesterday. Enjoy

Cynde, Have a great time with your grand babys. I know I enjoyed Lydia so much this past Monday, seems so long ago already, geez, I wonder how much she's grown since then? Grand babys make your heart smile real big. Lydia has learned to giggle and she just loves to take off my glasses if she gets close enough to grab them and she gets lots of chances. :-)

Mara, nice pictures too.

Oh, Tom, I like that last pic of yours the best too.

Got to find out where Brandon's soccer game is today so I can actually find it, but will need an address to program the GPS, I know it's almost an hour's drive. That's about it for now.

Here too, Kobi. Got up to 58 degrees here so far, but must be a hot flash or something, got a tee on, yesterday we had 80 degrees. Not bad in the sun, spent some time outside with Ginger (JR) this morning, she gets so excited when I go out and play with her, she was doing laps around the place, then hit a bunch of wet leaves and skidded for quite a ways. Was too funny as I thought of Smack and Tom doing the slip and slide in the living room of my place. :-)

NorCal weather is beeyootiful today, guys. We always get a burst of warm weather now. Then winter sets in and it drops into the 60's...oh it's AWFUL!

Jerry - I LOVE your commute :-), LMDAO is right!

You men and your *ahem* head gear - that just ain't right!

I'm hoping to get some fall pics tomorrow... we're rapidly losing more leaves than are turning, though. But... since I have to drive to the Green Bay airport to report and show them the trashing of my suitcase (it was unbelievable when it came off the conveyor belt in ATL), I might as well take the camera and stop and enjoy the scenery. :-)

Cheers, Folks!!! :-):-)

Off to make dinner, I know, way early, but got to go to an away soccer game, one hour up, one hour back, an hour and half of play time, then factor in rush hour traffic timing, yup, got to make dinner now so the guys can have something as I will be going to work right after that, ate enough today to last me rest of the day.

I am hoping WHN (What's His Name) see Tom, I can do that too, will be able to cut out of work early and we can go together, that would be nice. If not, I got an address and it is all programed in my GPS just in case.

Have a great rest of the day Friday everyone!

Hey Tom,

have you ever seen the series "Long Way Round" or "Long Way Down?"

If not, google them and get the DVDs - you'll be glad you did!

Because of those DVDs, Les and I are planning a big ride up through the Upper Peninsula and back around lake Michigan for next year....

It gets in your blood!

You all are definitely the Ying to the Yang I came into this morning....
we knew we had something dead around here but somehow we totally overlooked the rather large mouse in our retail store. I don't know how we missed it as the poor fella was right where we plug in lights and chit chat with customers..... OMG!! Thank goodness for the dive shop dudes. I so did not want to have to scoop it up. A 1/2 can of lysol later and I still have the heebie jeebies.

BT makes it all better though :-):-):-) Thanks guys!

Cynde can't wait to see pics of the family!!

Tom you've inspired me to go back to the hills that speak to me. When I moved to Santa Barbara I didn't know a soul - not a single person. So every day after work I would drive to Painted Cave and Gibraltar and sit and contemplate the huge leap of faith I'd taken in moving. The move, the time spent in reflection, the leap... all were the best/smartest thing I've ever done in my life. It's been a while since I've spent time up there --- this weekend should be perfect for it :-)

Keep the pictures coming EVERYONE!!!! I just love seeing where and what BTrs are up to :-)

Hey...I was watching 20/20 the other night(after the finale of Project Runway....I don't know what's wrong with me), and they had a segment on a women's motorcycle club, the Devil Dolls. Is there a chance that anybody saw it?

I had to laugh....a friend of mine is the president, the one called Goth Girl. She didn't tell me she was going to be on...so funny to see her being interviewed. She's a riot...looks like some goth pinup, plays exquisite piano, classically trained. And then there's the chopper....

my favorite yodel

excuse me, I am having a moment. Need to go put my touque back on, ears are cold.

Dave, very cool. I have been mapping a route to ride late next spring turn around point will hopefully be right after I get to ride Deals Gap aka "The Dragon". Figured that run would be a good turning around spot for a week trip. Funny isn't it how we (guys) name stuff. Why wasnt that route called "The scenic ride with lots of pretty stuff to look at" Nope, gotta call it "The Dragon" lol. Does look like a great ride tho.

R.A., I certainly hope you are more "with it" today. Remember, beeeeeeeee calmmmmmm and don't giggle at too much stuff.

We have a women's motorcycle club up here too, I like following them down the road:-) SLAPPPPPPPPPPP!!!

CB Go into any grocery store when you are in New York and you will see the Drakes Cake display. I will be your BFF if you bring me back a box of yodels! (OOOHHH, The Stella Dora factory too, I am salivating here!)

Once, many light years ago in a distant galaxy my friend Kay and I were driving home from a club in NYC up 684 (it was 4 or so in the morning) and a Drakes truck had overturned and spilled out all it's goods. After we established the driver was okay we started hauling a$$ to put as many boxes of Yodels, Devil Dogs and Yankee Doodles in our car as we possibly could. We lived on that for a few weeks! Ah, the good old days!

I worked my granddaughter's pre-school book fair today, and then took said child and her Mommy to lunch. Now I'm feeling to lazy to get back in there and continue painting!

I buy a variety of the chocolate Little Debbies for the girls, and since I'm not a big chocolate fan, I don't eat them. They love the cosmic brownies the best. I like the salty crunchie stuff!

Carry on!

Hi kids - stopping in for a minute to, well, tooo um just kill a minute or two. Pete and I and Boy are off to Knoxville tonight - aka Obnoxiousville. One of us is riding with Stuart and the other is following. He is going to visit a friend at UT (university of Tennessee) and since he has never driven that far by himself or in a larger city we figure this would be a good compromise. Then Pete and I can have some dinner in Kville and then head back to Mayberry - I mean Kingsport.

that means that Happy Hour won't start until WAY later if at all tonight. I think that's gonna have to be a tomorrow night thing. We have 10 miles to do tomorrow and 8 on Sunday then one last training walk on Tuesday of 5 miles and then....AARGH! I'm excited though.

c'ya a little later if I can get back on here.

be good - oh wait - who the HECK am I talking to - have fun

Oh and what does W.H.N. stand for?

Investment Advice:
If you had purchased $1,000 of AIG stock one year ago, you would have $42 left. With Lehman, you would have $ 6.60 left. With Fannie or Freddie, you would have less than $5 left. But if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all of the beer, than turned in the cans for the recycling REFUND, you would have $214. Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle. It's called the 401-keg plan.

Have fun Julia and Babs :-):-):-):-)

AND!!!! I just got a call from the vets. Nothing grew from Rasta's peepee (hee hee!) so she is in the clear. I've stopped putting so much liquid in her food so we'll see if that helps.

Okay, back to work. I just know ya'll have been waiting with baited breath about my dog's urine!!! LOL!!!

I can't quit looking at the videos and pics of my girls and grands. :-) It's all good. They love country, I have always hated country music, but....they love country. Because I raised them in it. Though I am a grammar corrector. lol In country music, I can't correct them, so it's like "in my face"! lol I am accepting all this, and I absolutely love the pics and videos of my country bumpkins. :-)

G'night y'all. :D

Hi Gang :-)
Pretty sad HH tonight - everyone must be out doing the real thing!!

Debbie T hugs to your Grandad, you and your family. I'm so glad that he has you. I hope someone loves me like that when I'm 88 :-):-)

I guess I'm just as bad as all of ya'll - no HH hanging out for me either. I have to finish up a few things and head over to the Post Office.

I have a girlfriend in town so she & I and another girlie are going to hang out and chat, chat, chat --- poor Guy is relegated to the garage or den :-) He doesn't mind though - oh darn... the garage, a cigar and a beer or two!!!

Have a great night everyone.
Sweet Dreams
still no idea my external hard drive is dead

Tara, thanks for the pee pee update :-) Glad you're girl's OK!!!
Enjoy girlie night tonight.

Whew, I'm glad today is almost over. Major headache & brain is fried from computer software training. Me not like doing that for 3 hours this morning. Getting ready to make huge investment for new system for our company. Totally different that what we've used for....well....forever :-)

The girls have crashed for a while. Rob's watching something on the DVR machine & I'm tooling around the internet; shopping online :-)

My sister called earlier today and she, Rylan and Mom are tentatively coming up tomorrow to spend the night. Will know for sure in the morning. The foliage is pretty here so Rob and I are hauling tail and bikes up in the mtns. early so we can ride and then get home.

Glad my cleaning lady came today as I have to do NOTHING to get ready for visitors. The weekend has NOW BEGUN!!!
PS, glad to see you!!!

OMG, I can't forget this.....today, my middle Yorkie girl, Bon Bini is SIX years old :-) I sang to her, this morning, all the while she was kissing me :-)
She's a love bug. I can't believe she's already 6!!! We had to name her something that reminded us of Bonaire so....Bon Bini it was!!!!

bon bini as a wee baby; 7 weeks old

Happy Friday night you guyz!

I've been busy painting today. I'm almost finished with the trim - just need some muscle help moving the sofa and love seat. And I've started 2 walls. John said he liked the white trim. I said it isn't white, it's Peach Linen. The he said he like the beige walls. I said that's not beige, it Bermuda Sand! And since he had no interest in looking at paint samples, it's good he liked what I decided! :-)

We had an attempted breakin to my van at 3 am..... The alarm went off, but by the time we heard it, and John got up and threw something on and went out with a flashlight and Chaos, there was nobody there. He has this super power flashlight that lit everything up, but the alarm scared off anyone who was there. Of course he did the "Are you sure you locked it" routine. My locks haven't been working correctly, so when I came home yesterday from the luncheon, I took my dish out of the passenger door and hit lock. The lock mode was on, but the button stayed in the up position on the drivers door. So someone saw the button up, thought the van was unlocked and tried it. And the alarm sounded. So John is now a little appalled about going out with just a flashlight and Chaos and is talking about getting a pistol.....

I went to a few neighbors to warn them to batten down the hatches and keep their eyes open, and 2 doors over my friend went out this morning to find her car door ajar, and the interior light on. She assumed she must have left her car unlocked, but nothing was missing. Too much of a coincidence. I told her John was considering getting a pistol, and she shocked me by saying she wanted one too, and wanted to take the course for concealed weapon carrier.

I caught another neighbor and warned her about what happened, and she told me 2 days ago her daughter was in the back bedroom when she saw a man run through their yard, hop the fence into Miss Gail's yard (me), and ran down to the lake. That was about 3:30 in the afternoon, and I was painting in the hallway to the bathroom, so never would have seen anyone running in my yard.  Shannon said she was freaked out and went into the TV room, but didn't tell her dad until her mom asked why their side gate was standing open..... and I told her John was talking about getting a pistol, and she said her husband (who is the stay at home dad) is talking the same.

Now we live in a nice subdivision. But here are 3 homes in a row  feeling like we're needing protection, and as the economy gets worse..... we're feeling it more. We have a shot gun and rifle from my hubby's old hunting days, but have never had a pistol in the house, and with Kira and Alex spending most Saturday nights with us.... I just don't know. But if we decide to do this, we'll go over to the range where my son goes, for proper instruction, practice, and classes.

When I was driving to lunch today, Alex (aged 3) wanted to ride with Grandma, and I passed a gas station posting gas at $3.09. I said out loud - look at that - Yesterday I was happy I paid $3.13 and now it's $3.09. What a weird world. And Alex said, "No it's not weird, It's a fun world!"  Bless the innocent children, dear Lord! You just have to love them! And hope for blessing for all of us too. :-)
