That tree is on my property...

This picture is driving through the town of Jim Thorpe yesterday where it's Fall Foliage weekend...the "mist" in the trees is smoke from the tourist train at the station right near there...

Good morning Donna, Judy, Kobi, & Jerry! Haven't dropped in for awhile, so hope all is well! Isn't this fall weather beautiful? Unfortunatly, I have a rotten cold & feel crappy, & am stuck at work! Has anyone had news about Kaarien? I'd like to know what's happening. Thanks! Have a great Sunday everyone!

Good Morning Everyone!
Thanks for the good thoughts for Ms. Rasta. Guy thinks I just have been putting too much water in her breakfast & dinner.
It's really beautiful here too. Days like these you can usually see every nook and cranny of the channel islands so Rasta and I will head off to the bluffs shortly.

I've already gotten two loads of laundry done and had a nice chat with Guy while watching the sun come up (he's off to work now).

Did anyone else watch CBS Sunday Morning? I love the interview with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss --- I had intended to get their cd but didn't... Itunes here I come!! I love Robert's look on life and aging. I can't do YouTube on this laptop but if you get a chance... check it out.

Sorry you had to work Freddie but hope you made loads of tips :-)
Judy, give Millie a hug from Rasta :-)
Kobi, pass them out around your house too!!

Susan, hope you knock that cold out soon.
Donna, thank you for the beautiful pics. I LOVE the fall foliage. That's something we don't get right here.

Good morning almost afternoon Donna, Judy, Kobi, Jerry,Susan, Tara and PATRICK!

We've been busy with life and chores this weekend. I missed my spin class yesterday morning 'cause I woke up at 7:45 a.m. and class is at 8. We went to a friends house to watch the first game in the series and didn't get home till around 1am. The TB Rays lost that game, but we won the second game last night. The next 3 games will be played in Boston. I've got my fingers crossed for our guys.

It's a gorgeous day in Northern New Jersey/USA, too. Blue skies and birds chirping, leaves changing and the bright sun shining! Temps into the low to mid seventies during the day and the fifties at night for right now. It has dipped into the thirties & forties a few nites but not too bad, so far...it's what comes "later" that I don't care for.....old man winter. Can't stop him, tho....so we will roll with the punches!

Here's a couple of shots from my media room window. The pool is behind the red picket fence...I'm ready for the pool!! Open her up right now, baby! Heated, please, however. LOL. Carole

Wow, have a wonderful HONEYmoon, Kristi!

Let's see, the season in FL is...still summer! With just less humidity. :-)

We're lovin' it.

Have a great Sunday all. My MIL is here and I'm making 3 pans of lasagna, and corn on the cob, garlic bread and key lime pie. Then WINE for grownups.

:-)

Thanks for checking in Kristi! Enjoy your Honeymoon and also Mother Ocean when you get a chance. :-) Nice pics.

Weather here started out a bit chilly, but warmed up nicely, think I will go sit outside in the sun and soak up some of that good old sunshine. Good for the soul.

Oh, yesterday, when I went over to my son's to cut down some trees, I got to spend a little time with Lydia, my grand daughter. She is getting so big! And she has a full head of head, wavy, curly jet black hair, she looks like a little Snow White! :-)

Also, talked to Tiffany and she has finally decided on what she wants to be now that she is in her third year of college for Marine Biology. Let's just say, she has just added another 6 years of school to get to where she wants to be. Oye!~ Seriously, I am happy for her that she has figured it out and can now be centered on her career. Hope we can afford to keep her going for it, still have one left at home to go to college too. No early retirement in the near future, that's for sure, but it's all good! :-)

Debbie how old is Lydia now?

My niece just decided to go back for her PHD, if she can get accepted. My sister thought everybody was out of the nest, so they're scrambling to line up finances...having helped the first one through law school, they can't deny the second, but it's a shock to them, i think.

CB, Lydia is 6 months old already. :-) A real cutie too.

Tiffany still has another year to get her BA in Marine Biology, then she is going for her Masters and also a doctorate in Tropical Coral Reefs. We are starting to look for internships and summer stuff for her resume in the appropriate fields. Actually, Bonaire has a great one in the summertime she would love to go to, wouldn't that be cool if she could do that? She is looking into it and lots of others. All over the world they are, pretty interesting and since she is already a diver, a lot of other things are open to her too. There's a thing called Scientific Diving that interests her to learn how to take samples and such, her list just goes on and on. That darn computer has so much info and she wants it all! Good thing is that it is motivating her to keep her GPA up and all. With Hurricane Ike hitting Galveston and the move to College Station, motivation was at a low level, now it is back where it should be.

Guess I could say she wants to be a professor teaching at a college or university and in the summers, do research on Tropical coral reefs which she really is into.

I know UC Berkeley had a Research Diver class that all the marine biology students had to pass before they could do internships. For years it was run by a guy who was the old school get-tough-or-go-home, skin-in-wetsuit, Fenzy-horse-collar-BC guy. I bet some folks here know who I'm talking about. Boy, he made life hard for some folks. He finally retired, to the relief of many.

I talked to some people in the internship program on Bonaire last time we were there...they were having a ball. If I could afford it, I'd sign up myself!

Glad life is back on track for Tiffany. When my niece was at Hastings Law School, she had a lot of classmates who were displaced from New Orleans for a year, after Katrina. It was a mess...

CB, yeah, me too! She sent me the website and I was like wow! So cool to be able to do on the same island she feel in love with Mother Ocean. Who knows where her road will lead her and take her, but I am all for doing what you love in life, versus just getting a job you hate. :-) Ike was Tiff's first experience with living through a hurricane and then seeing first hand its wrath and heartache. Her third year has just started a few weeks before it hit. Now, some of her classes are in churches, some classes are being taught on line as even some of the professors can't commute to College Station, so learning this semester will be a challenge to say the least, but she is not alone, there are lots of students going through the same thing and they have all bonded through Ike.

Well, I'm glad she was spared the complete los some folks experienced. And what great time of life this is for her....when I work on a campus, I want to grab people and say "Do you know how much fun you're having right now?".

Ok, my mother and I are off to find an empty parking lot. This is the first time she's going to try to drive her car after her stroke....big step!

It's all about living the moment - enjoy the driving. GO MOM!!!!

Debbie, you must be so proud of Tiffany and rightly so.

I just got back from taking Rasta to the bluffs. It wasn't as clear out at the islands as I'd hoped but I'm wondering if it might be from smoke. There's a fire just outside of LA (hope Karen and Roger aren't near). We've been having pretty good wind events each evening, hopefully they have it under control before they start up again.

Time to head over to Costco and Home Depot.

Hey Kobi, Did you two go biking today?
All I did besides my morning routine, was grocery shop. But I did hit this one place that sells used clothes. I am searching for a vintage beaded or appliquéd sweater (good luck with that in Florida) that I can make a bear out of. No luck today, but I'll try consignment shops next. One of my bear buddies made one and it was really nice. The sweater she used was white with beaded flowers - really pretty.

Linda, no riding for us today. Rob tore up the trails all day yesterday though with a buddy. My alone time this weekend was sweeeet! Today we tackled the garage. O M Goodness I have never seen so much sh...tuff!!! We loaded up Rob's trailer and moved to Beverly :-) We looked like the Clampets, I'm sure, as we hauled it to the dumpster at work.

Good luck with your sweater hunt. Do check consignment stores as you never know what you'll find there. Your friend's bear project sounds beautiful!

Helloooooooooooooooo!!!!!
I just finished watching "Evan Almighty" what a GREAT movie :-):-)

If you're in need of a feel-good, you have to watch this one... especially the cuts at the end.

Kobi... girl... you're making me tired. Hope you at least got to enjoy a cocktail before collapsing in bed!!!

I never made it to Home Depot - Costco was such a zoo I was finished with people and shopping after that. I hate when people just stop in the middle of the aisle, cart and all, and hang out at the free samples.... maybe it's a sign of the economy that every sample table was swamped!!!

Any rate... I've got chickens and rice for Rasta, pizzas and caesar salad for the final debate night party, and a new throw for the couch :-):-)
The fireplace is going and Rasta and I are snuggled in.
