Thanks for the pix, we are jealous as we were planning to be in Bonaire this week for the spawning. The good news is that our 15year old Pointer is doing ok now and we will be taking them away for a week by the sea here instead.

The gym was a pretty sad place this morning with everyone gathering around to help prop up our friend whose cat was killed over the weekend. There's nothing like having 6 women hold you up when you can't manage it yourself. No offense meant to men, but I'm very proud of my gender this morning!

I just read Bette's post on Debbie's Thank You Thread...Bette, this says it all. BT is truly a wonderful place. BTers carried me through a rough time in Puerto Rico when my mother passed...and I know they have been there so many times for others. I truly feel blessed to be part of the BT family. If I may quote what Bette said:

Wonderful News! They are letting folks back on Galveston Island to take a look/see and leave starting now!! WooHoo! Tiffany and Nick are on their way to see how the apartment looks and also how the inside fared the hurricane. It looks perfect from the outside, but not sure about flooding inside, but more positive after seeing this. Only far end of Seawall Blvd. has any damage, and Tiffany is not located anywhere near that end.

She has to be out of the island by 6pm or they fine folks $2,000. 50-60% of some power is back, meaning water I think, but not drinkable, so folks are working hard.

Thanks for the soup kitchen nods, guys! I love doing that service & am proud of the 102 people I have to coordinate.

Jerry, yes you can have crackers with your soup The line is never very long. We average 40 peeps per week but other churches serve meals on other days of the week. We only doe Tuesdays. Tonight's menu had hot dogs and homemade chili was our soup. It was REALLY good; the chili was the BOMB!

I talked to Toshiba in Houston today and most of the folks in the sales and Eng. dept that I deal with almost daily have NO power at home and may not for a while. The plant was up and they are processing my orders for motors and controls but production is not running. Very sad situation for everyone affected

Just heard from Tiffany, the island does not have cell phone coverage, so I had a long wait, but GOOD NEWS!! Her apartment is standing just as she left it and NO, did you hear that, NO water came in at all! The only she saw was that the asphalt from the parking lot is gone, but water never made it into her apartment. It is truly a miracle. Made my night, heck, my week. She was very humbled by all the devastation driving through the island, what an experience it must have been for her.

They stopped the look and leave policy as folks just flocked back and it was too much, too fast, but at least Tiffany did get in, got a lot more of her clothes and important stuff she couldn't take the first time out. She is one of the lucky ones in Galveston Island for sure. She cried at all the damage to places and lots she knew who lived there too. Very sad. A double edged sword to the heart so to speak.

Thanks for being there for me, know I haven't really read all the threads here, been so wrapped up with this all, but HUGS to all of you.

Debbie, great news about Tiffany's apartment! Miracle indeed! I am sure this whole experience will change her as it would me too. The impact of what has happened is hard for all of us to imagine; she is there and seeing the aftermath and I'm sure it's overly emotional.

Thankfully she's safe and was able to get in and find some comfort in that her home was OK. Prayers continue for others that were not so lucky.
