Good Evening - went looking for a Wednesday thread, but .... well, maybe it's my eyes - couldn't find one.

However - this has been quite the week, and it's all about Holle!!!

When we picked Holle up at the breeders, a week ago last Monday, we noticed one eye was quite red. Probably got a scratch from one of the other pups. Okay.

Then, as required by the breeder, Holle had a full check up by our Vet on Tuesday. Well, Holle had an infection in BOTH eyes, plus an ear infection!!!

Then came the good news. Holle has a major overbite, her lower canine teeth are damaging the roof of her mouth. Both lower canines plus some other teeth will be removed so that hopefully the jaw will be able to grow to its proper shape, and we may have to have the adult canines removed when they come in.

Then, we (read Karen) had to obtain 3 stool samples - first of the day, 3 days in a row. That was done and returned to the vet. Vet said There should be no problem and we won't call you - unless there is a problem. Got the phone call Tuesday, just before the vet office closed.

Holle has an intestinal parasite, called Giardia!! Karen went over to get the medication - and came back with Extra!!

Because Holle has been in the house with both cats for 10 days now, THEY - the cats have to be treated as well!!

Apparently we would be allowed to return Holle to the breeder, ..... but the bonding has already happened. Even Midnight, the smallest cat has become friends with Holle. Oscar - the raccoon wannabe is still in the his and spit stage.

So, there we go. That's the update. Oh, and no pics today because - I have been puppy sitting all afternoon (first time for so long for me) and Holle has worn both me and (I hope) herself out!!! She runs like there is a Tasmanian devil after her!!!

So, when all is said and done, we're hoping it will all come out okay.

Good Night Everyone!!

:-) Bill :-)

Aww Bill that all just makes her that much more special :-)
Our Little Guy was pretty darn sick when we brought him home - Giardia (but he liked the medicine and giving it to him through a dropper really seemed to help with the bonding). He had herpes in his eyes too and ringworm..... worth every bit of worry though!!!

I'm sure with all of your great care and LOVE Miss Holle will be even more of a Tasmanian Devil!!! You're so very lucky :-) :-)

btw- the Wednesday threads were labeled as Tuesday Hump Day --- that Cecil decided to keep us all as confused as he was.
And it worked well... at least for me :-)
Sweet Dreams!

ST...geez! Poor Holle...and your poor checkbook:-( I hope she gets better soon, and glad you have bonded. BTW, Geezela has a major overbite, but we have never treated her...we call her "toofy" cause it's so bad...or "shark bite"...don't know if Holle's is much different than Geezes, but she's done just fine. She did have to have some teeth pulled recently, but it wasn't from her overbite...

Bill,

BIG hugs to you, Karen and Miss Holle!!! I'm sorry she's got some infections she's fighting.
She could NOT be in a better home and with your loving care she will be just fine.

Maybe the breeder will help with some of the meds/bills? Wouldn't hurt to ask. Sounds like you have a great vet and that's good.
I couldn't give her back either; she's a cutie and I'm sure she's tugged at your heart strings!!! She deserves to be with such wonderful, loving people like you two!

She will love you FOREVER for taking good care of her. Please, also, take care of yourself, Karen and the other furkids.

Hugs!

Poor Holle! Sorry about all Holle's ailments already. Glad though that you caught them at an early stage and all can be taken care of with meds. Holle is lucky to have such good parents to take care of her. :-) Sending Holle, you and Karen lots of (((HUGS))), it is hard when our furry friends get sick.

Awww - Bill - Poor Holle and poor Karen for having to get the "samples". I'm sure all will be fine for her but please make certain you update us on giving the cats the medicine...they can be a rather, umm, umm, uncooperative sometimes.

Big hugs to you all.

Bill....please tell me that the breeder is paying for all of this. Jerks! We had giardia in our house once and it took a few rounds of meds to get it all. Be careful as it is transpecies. I'm glad your vet identified it. Sorry on all of the dental work.

Ugh....I need to step away from the computer before I launch a full on attack about the breeder. Bye for now!

Hi, Karen here. I was reimbursed for the ear and eye meds and the breeder said to let him know what the cost of the additional treatments as the bills come in. He seems more than willing to compensate for the problems. He did say that he had provided all of the shots that are normal for pups before I got her and my vet agreed with that statement. If they were made to give shots to pups for all 6 of the parisites that invade the body of a pup he would have to get 8 shots and most of those are probably not necessary and very hard on the pup. I am only getting the knines removed and the adult knines (sorry for the spelling) Sure not able to give her up now. Just love the little rascal already.
Karen

Hi Karen! Well that is good news that the breeder is stepping up on this. And of course, no one would expect you to give her up! We take our furkids for better or for worse and love them to pieces. :-)

:-) Good Evening, Everyone!! :-)

Mara .... Cats Uncooperative????? Wellllllll,

Picture 2 black cats, now wearing white stripes from the medicine, and my jeans looking like they had a LOT of fun, without me!!! :-) :-)

Good thing about getting the medicine on Midnight, the thin boy, is that he and Holle have bonded - sort of. Midnight is the one that got the Holle chewing the other night. Now, Holle is helping to clean the medicine off Midnight :-) :-)

Oscar, on the other hand, is still in hiss, spit and swat mode, and therefore has to wear his white stripes!!! :-) :-)

Tomorrow is toofy removal day........ wonder what drunk puppy will be like when I get home from work, about 7PM????? :-) :-) :-)

Have a wonderful night, and thanks, EVERYONE for your comments and support!!! :-) :-)

:-) Bill :-)

Awwww, Mr and Mrs T... so sorry your puppy has a factory defect :-(. She will be sooooo much more comfortable with those canines removed, Good for your vet for being proactive about it!!! :-) I have tried to get several clients to do what you are doing with extractions to make their pups more comfy and I get blown off. Poor pups!

If it's only her canines, she'll likely do GREAT!!!!

Good luck with the meds in the cats... my cats would shred me!:-) Hugs to you all!
