Hi Donna. The grandkids have me up early! College shopping is bittersweet. Enjoy the fact that you've done your job by raising your children to be independent and going forth in the world!

I envy Eileen, camping with the kiddos! Those are special memories!

Happy sunny Sunday to all who venture here today!

Good morning all, lunch will be served soon. Today we are having free range chicken, mashed potatoes, yorkshire pudding, broad beans, cauliflower, gravy and stuffing. No desert here but perhaps someone else can provide a treat.
We are having a lazy day today because we are having a weekend away next week.
We have won £25 on the lottery so perhaps a glass of pinot grigio ? Help yourselves.

Hi ladies!! Yes, Gail, it is bittersweet...but then bittersweet chocolate is a favorite of mine! :-) I envy Eileen, too! It's nice to have those who understand to share with! :-) :-) :-)

Julia, lunch sounds awesome...I'm on my way! (I wish!)

Gotta get into my day now. Enjoy!!

smile!

Good morning Donna, Gail, Julia , Kathy, and Freddie! Congrats on winning the lottery, Julia! I keep trying, but no luck! I've missed all of you...I lost my cousin, Calvin, to suicide, on July 15th. He lived on Martha's Vineyard and ran our family's home as a Bed N Breakfast for the past 28 years. He'd just sold the house in February, for way below it's value. It's an 11 bedroom house, right on the ocean. Anyway, nonoe of our family saw this coming...he was like a brother to me, & it's going to be awhile till I get thru this. I missed writig on BT, so I thought I'd come back. I wish I could run off to Bonaire for a few weeks!!!

Wow, the last time I was in the UK the exchange rate was 1 GBP= $1.50 USD. Now it is $1.97. By the way Julia, congratulations on your big win. I certainly think you can afford two glasses of Pinot Grigio now. LOL

Good Morning Everyone!!:-)
I came home last nite, my sister is with my Mom for now. Just thought I'd check in...the "crab balls" chat had me actually laughing!:-)

Susan, I am sorry for your loss. I wish I could say more, but try to be strong and hold on to your family. (((((HUGS)))))

Round about $50 so no extra trip to Bonaire. We did win about $3000 a few years back which was almost exactly the cost of flights to Bonaire so guess what we did!!!!
Susan, I do know how you are feeling, my uncle took his own life a few years back and I know that others on the board have suffered the same way. We also had no inkling of why it happened and still don't know. If you want to have a chat off line please feel free to send me an e mail. It is sometimes hard to unload how you feel about things like this with the family.
Still no offers of a dessert? Surely not all of you are on a diet?!! :-)

Good morning all.

Susan, Pam and I empathize with the emotional turmoil you are going through. Her brother Jay also chose to end his life. I send you my wishes that tomorrow and every day that follows the heaviness in your heart, the undeserved guilt and possible anger you might experience lessens.

P.S., nice to see you back with us girl.

Hi Freddie, to. .....:-)

Hugs to you all.

Morning Everyone! Still in Texas, going home today finally! Mission accomplished, it was some road trip, all kinds of wild weather all the way down, crossing the Mississippi was beautiful, never knew bridges could go on and on for miles then go into a big V uphill, way, way uphill. I made up time for the breakdown, only got 230 miles that first day, so had to drive 700 miles two days in a row, was totally exhausted when I got to Texas, but pretty darn proud that I made it all in one piece. Will be home again tonight, so will see you all tomorrow.

PegiSue, Hugs to you. Susan, Hugs to you too.

Hey Tom, Can you say 5 DAYS??? Oh, yeah... :-)

Judy, my agenda today is pretty much complete. I went up to the Rite Aid to get a prescription filled for Cypro. A guy that we were diving with in Honduras wrote it for me. Not that I will need it on Bonaire, but it helped me greatly in Honduras. I think I shall always travel with it in the future. I also picked up a few other things.

This is going to be a very strange trip for me, as I have never been to Bonaire without Kathi. I wish she were going, but she is switching grade levels this year (to sixth from fourth) and has a lot of things to do to get ready. She is even reading a novel called "Number the Stars" which teaches kids about the Nazi occupation in Denmark during the war. Anyway, I know it will be fun, just a lot different.

Good golly, somebody get Debbie a donut pillow ASAP! I'd rather nail my head to the floor than drive 1600 miles in three days.

I've been the the island once alone, I was the only human for a menagerie used to four.

I was incredibly popular.

How do you think I feel, I'm running on de-caf!

I was woken up last night at 2:15 by the phone, seems someone was looking for "Cookie" and didn't believe me that she wasn't at our house and proceeded to call 7 more times.Needless to say I didn't get a lot of sleep and am a BOW today!

I wanted to say a lot worse than that, especially since my dear hubby slept through the entire ordeal! The last time the phone rang he thought it was me snoring! THE NERVE of him!!!!

Thanks Martin:-) A little dope slapping going on in that pic:-)

RA, what kind of sound does your phone make. I sure wouldn't mistake What's Her Names' snor.. SLAP OW.... I wouldn't mistake Pam's light "purring" for a telephone ringing.

Is that the end Tom? lol

We all reach epiphanies, (is that the plural of epiphany?) in our lives. Where some giant truth reveals itself to us. I've had quite a few this go round. :-)

I was just talking to a work friend, and her degree is in psychology, (mine was changed from psychology, to sociology, to human resources - yep, whatever didn't require higher math!) but anyway, my friend didn't remember Maslov's hierarchy of needs. Well, I brain dumped math like she did things like that, so I had to explain it and look it up and show it to her.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow's_hierarchy_of_needs

In the awards ceremony Friday, (I got an award for outstanding job placement), one of the presenters said she doubted many of us had reached self actualization. I immediately went off in thought, about how I thought I HAD, in AL. I was a superstar in the Human Resources field. I broke every record in job placement and collaborating with colleges to train people and hooked up with businesses who would hire every successful grad, I was on radio, TV and commercials for my programs, and was in the paper often. (My mom had one room plastered with all the paper things). I had done it all and had all these people I'd helped, still thankful for me and all I cried in those days was tears of joy. I thought that's all there could be.

Then I moved to FL, right after my mom's death, my brother's death sentence (AIDS), and my sister's second stroke (after a heart attack) that left her unable to speak, and all of a sudden it was all lost to me, and I had to go back to the safety and security level.

Anyone Buddhist or Hindu on here? It seems to work better for me.

:-)

Didn't mean to get so deep, but I need to dunk my head under the water and have a glass of wine...too much thinking, time to be drinking (can we have HH back since PS is back?)! Hope it's ok to air my thoughts here. I think it might be, to most.

Anyway, after much polishing and waxing and trimming and vacuuming and mopping and scrubbing toilets and showers, it's finally time for a cheese pizza and then the pool, and the work is all done. HA, it's still not raining. :-)

60% chance though.

We go on a mini vacation Thursday thru Sunday to Lauderdale by the Sea. Can NOT wait. :-) I need it, as you can tell! :-)

Then back and hopefully the rain will have ended, and it's on BON in September for 2 weeks, (just 42 days away!)

OK, gotta eat and FINALLY relax. Do a raindance for me, a NO RAIN dance! xx

Hi, Kathy!

Tom, you seem to have some experience with this thing about pacing yourself when helping someone else...yes, I can tell I do a better job when I let myself catch up.

It's pretty easy to start thinking that the present state of things is permanent, but I know it's not: the stumbling blocks are getting smaller, and the solutions more visible. I'm very lucky to be in a situation where there ARE solutions.....

In two weeks, Eric and I will drive to Grant's Pass, Oregon for his niece's wedding...that will take four days, and will be a nice respite. AND, I think I've found enough resources for my mother that we will both feel ok about me going.

I sure miss diving, but there will be time to dive again, and there aren't second chances to do the stuff I'm doing now, right?

OK....enough about me. For balance, let me add:

House of Wood.......

Johnson Hardware.......

Crab Balls.......

Barbara "CB", You will be diving again soon:-) I am so happy for you and proud of what you are doing that the smile on my face goes all the way to my heart:-)

Seb, my pleasure. I admit tho, I had to turn on the lava lamp so I could slow things down a bit.

Hey CB, glad to see you back, even if it for a short time.

Tom, thanks for Californiaizing Seb's words, you know for all my east coast upbringing I have turned into a valley girl fer sure! lava lamps rock, by the way :-)

Kathy, it ends where it begins, you get what you give. I mean that in the most Zen way :-)

CB - Do you think they have crab balls at The House of Wood?

RA, I give alot, too much really. But that's OK. I get it back 3 fold, I really do. I'm being tested, and I am good at tests.

I know other BTers don't know what I'm talking about, so I'll just say my faith is tested. Last year, we lost so much.

This year is going to be good. No, it's going to be great. :-)
I don't think there is such a thing as crab balls, but if they did exist, I imagine them as caviar.
