Hi everyone. Just wanted to let you know that Kathi and I got back from Roatan, Honduras at 4:00 AM. Needless to say, we are both sleep deprived and punchy right now. However, it was a blast. More to follow, after I sleep.

Well, the first good thing was that we were diving with a great guy, named Jim, who was from Tennessee. The second great part was he was an M.D. This Jim, came down with some heavy duty cramps followed by, well, you know. It begins with a big D. He came down the next morning and gave me 4 Cypros. The next day, I was sh*tting gold bricks and feeling very normal. Thank God for docs from the great state of Tennessee.

The profile of Roatan is much different than Bonaire. The walls and swim throughs of many dive sites are very dramatic. Mary's Place, and Calvin's Crack were absolutely incredible. However, the marine life on Roatan does not hold a candle to the sites we love so dearly.

Many funny stories happened on this trip, especially Al, who claimed to have 10,000 dives. Being a math teacher for 24 years, before history, I quickly surmised this dude was so full of , his eyes were not brown, but VERY dark brown. He was taking every course they had. He did rescue, deep dive, and Nitrox all in his two weeks. He also went in the water on his third dive of the day and never changed his tank. At 45 feet, he had no air, tried to pull this other guy's octo, and did an emergency assent before the guy could turn around and hand him the octo. Al never gave the guy the out of air signal and shot straight to the top. I must add this was after he did his deep dive prior to this. Can you say chamber? He did. He was just a walking cluster ****, but kept me amused all week. There is a lot more about him, but I shall not bore you with the details. That should suffice.

We were very surprised by the food down there. We never do all inclusives, but that is what they have. Don Francisco, the executive chef of the resort, did a fantastic job with preparation. It was all good, except sometimes salt was the flavoring of the day.

So, all in all, it was a very fun trip, good diving, good people we met, and I was the KING of karoke. I did Mustang Sally, (Wilson Pickett) My Girl,(Temps) Walk of Life (Dire Straits) and Taking Care of Business (Bachman Turner Overdrive) They had no Bruce, or the microphone would have been mine. A Honduran woman came up to me and told me she loved me, and I was the beast singer she ever heard from America. ?, Kathi asked her to please not tell me that. LOL That night was fun.

We are seeing Bruce twice next week, so I was OK with not singing him in Honduras. Sleep well mi amigos y amigas.

Jim, I love your twist on things.

Jerry, the twist was invented in Philadelphia by a fellow North Philadelphian named Chubby Checker. Great guy by the way. LOL

Another Al story. This is way too funny. He was doing his deep diver course with a guy named Willy. He was down about 135 feet, and Willy pulled out a puzzle that he wanted Al to do at depth. This other guy Randy went down to watch at about 110. I stayed up at 90 and watched the whole fiasco unfurl. While Al was putting the puzzle together, two Caribbean reef sharks came out of the blue. Willy started pointing down at the sharks and Al was so into the puzzle he never looked over at the sharks. Willy tapped him and pointed down at the sharks. Al thought Willy was telling him to go deeper, so he started to go down further. Willy had to go after him at 150 ft. Al never saw the sharks. When the four of us came up, I was hysterical laughing listening to Willy tell the whole story. Al just had this stupid look on his face, as he never saw the sharks. Both Randy and I saw them from where we were and had many laughs the rest of the week about 10,000 dive Al.

Babs, we stayed at Fantasy Island. However, our last day, we took the water taxi from Fantasy over to Coco View. If we ever go back, we would probably stay there. Although, I have to say we did not have many complaints about Fantasy. It was a good time. If I had not gone there, I would have never met my man Al.

I stayed at Fantasy Island and had a great time. If I went back I would stay at Anthony's on the west end. Much better diving! Half Moon bay is a great location.
