BeauJoe - that means you might have to clean up after 4 dogs (2 of them are over 100lbs each) and feed over 30 koi..and clean their ponds, clean the pool, keep up the tropical plants, pull all the weeds, and help plant the rockery - but I think you probably have the qualifications.

OK, coming in here LATE as usual! :-)
PS, so it was YOU! Congrats, half a mil gal. :-)

I'm on my second glass of wine, cooking thin steaks covered in onions and red/green/yellow bell peppers, and some ziti in another pan waiting on some kinda cheese sauce. I don't know what else, if anything. :-)

Sooooo, Larry's getting hit with the Princess Wedding stuff from his oldest daughter, the wedding cost is 35k. She really expects him to pony up half. Btw, we got married in St. Pete at a JOP chapel. The most we've given my girls is 1k for a wedding, she wants half. OMG.

So he's in there with the door closed. I hope he can work it out with her. Her stepdad has plenty of money as he is indian and gets Casino $$ to the tune of 400K a year. Larry makes 75k, I make 30. We can't do grandiose weddings. BUT because Larry is walking her down the aisle next October, stepdad is mad and won't contribute a penny unless Larry comes up with the $$, and if he doesn't Maria has to cut him out of his life.

Money money money Money. Pink Floyd. You know the song.

Argh. Thank God I have a stepfamily board.

But, things are smelling good. :-)

Kathy, I think the Princess needs to elope. Geesh! Give me $$ or I'll cut you out?
Sounds like my Mom several years ago. When you have a couple of hours, Kathy, I'll tell you about that one.
I had doubts that I would make it home tonight. A big storm hit while I was driving home. Nothing new about that, but while I was driving over the Bay Bridge (a couple of miles long over a piece of upper Tampa Bay)the traffic almost came to a halt. The wind coming from the East was so strong and swirly it was lifting water from the road & my truck was being buffeted around. Coming from Kansas, land of tornadoes, I'm pretty sure there was a water spout just to the east of the bridge. I was wide eyed and white knuckled by the time I reached the north end of the bridge. I thought for sure I'd be picked up and tossed into the water between the spans. Good thing I've thought of a plan if that ever happens. :-)

Kathy, that's too bad about the wedding. They are expensive, and frankly, I think it's selfish of the daughter to expect dad to foot the whole bill. I know we told Sarah what the budget would be (what we could afford) and even though I planned the whole thing, she knew what to expect. It's ridiculous to think that you can have an open ended wedding and not take into consideration what a dad can afford. No way should you go into MAJOR debt so she can have a fabulous wedding.

I just heard somewhere that the trend is to rebel against the corporatism/commercial weddings :-) :-) They've lost all meaning.
I was bucking they system when Guy & I got married by not registering, not having a 'color theme' and not having the traditional church ceremony. Upset a few but made me and G at peace :-) :-)
We had such a nice lunch - at the last place you can bring your dog with you. They bring a bowl of water for the dog along with our glasses of water :-) :-) Let me tell you, Rasta was better behaved than the 20-somethings sitting next to us!!!
I think I'm going to hi-jack Guy and go to the beach for sunset before going home tonight. Grab a bottle of wine on the way.... one more hour to go......................

My best friend had one of those GIHUGIC weddings. Tara, you just made me think of it!! I was pregnant w/ Kayla and had to wear this hideous lavender dress that made me look GINORMOUS...and it cost her parents SO much, and they couldn't afford it. They only stayed married for a couple of years, what a waste!:-(
I should've saved that dress for Larry's daughter, she could've had ALL of her bridesmaids dresses made from it!!!LOL

Have a good evening at the beach. That sounds like a very romantic time!:-):-):-)

Terry and I ran away to Hawaii and got married. We had a small reception in tiny Crystal Beach's community center a month later for friends and family. Made most of the food & asked for no gifts. It was fun - especially the Hawaii part.

We spent more on our wedding than we really needed to - but it was fun. The only bad spot was our dj. She played a song by the BeeGees and I went up and told her that I HATED the BeeGees - fingernails on a chalkboard, the works - and I'm the one wearing the wedding dress mind you... what did she do but play another BeeGees song. Ohhhhh you can bet everyone in Santa Barbara knows her name!!!
A bride scorned!!!!

Linda we asked people to give donations rather than gifts and I got so much guff from people. They were mad that I didn't register - said I was making it more difficult for them. I'm like, just make a donation, plant a tree, smile nicely to a stranger -- it's not brain surgery!!!!

Boom - way to go :-) A time you'll never forget. Bet Rasta enjoyed it too :-) Would love to see more pics, please :-)
We were married on Antigua with my in-laws & step-daughter. It was a surprise for everyone. Les proposed on St. Lucia & we made all arrangements via e-mail, faxes & phone :-) Simple and memorable & didn't cost a fortune!

Linda - glad you're ok. Wow scary stuff

Going back on Maria (and I do love her with all my heart, have loved her since I met her at 9 yrs old), the kids have always been torn between stepdad's money, and dad's love - and mom's influence, she tries to make them give up on their dad for more $$. It's hard.

BUT, after this talk, the deal is Larry sends 5k, gets to walk her down the aisle.

Karma to anyone that deserves it.

Larry gets this karma because he loves money too much, and that is why we had to separate finances.

So, he still has to pay. I do not.

I'm with him on this, but he is selfish with his $$. Sooooo...........karma

My daughters and grandchildren are coming in October. Can't wait. :-)

OK, g'night all.

Love you all bunches. :-)

Kathy, glad it worked out like it did. I had a HUGEGINORMOUSFIRSTWEDDINGWITHREALLYUGLYBRIDESMADESDRESSES....can you say puffy sleaves? I think it cost my parents around 10K. My mom planned the whole thing, so I didn't feel too bad (course, that was 25 years ago).

the dress was my great grandmothers, and my mother wore it too. I actually thought my BMs would wear these things again...!!

Michael and I spent 2 grand on our wedding, paid for it ourselves, so it was the way we wanted, overlooking the ocean, no maid of honor, just my 3 best friends up there with me wearing whatever they wanted.

OMG - Kathy - That's emotional blackmail. I'm glad Larry didn't give in. Personally I think that $35k is is horrible waste of money to be spent on a wedding! Spend $10k on the wedding, (yes it can be done and very nicely), and put the other $25k as a down payment on a home.

So Cyn - what were you? All of 18? :-)

Bunko night tonight..... I didn't win anything, but we sure had a gabby night. Didn't leave there until almost 10! It was a good night with good friends! It doesn't get much better than that.

CB, is that "hat" not the fugliest thing you've ever seen??? OMG, my mom made it and was just sooooo proud....lol!

Yep, gram on the left, she really was my BFF. Was 97 when she finally passed. She raised me for the first two years of my life cause my mom had post pardum depression...of course, 50 years ago, they didn't know what that was...lol! The dress was her mothers wedding dress, and my mom wore the same dress when she married my dad:-)
