How's this for 6 degrees of separation...

Today I spent most of the day at the hospital to support my friend who was having a tumor removed. Another Lipsticker was there too and she realized that one of her employees was at the same hospital in the ICU -- her son had been in a car accident over the weekend.
We were so focussed on our friend that we never put 2 + 2 together.....
her employee's son was the same boy who Guy's team airlifted on Sunday night and saved his life.... had it not been for the helicopter program, she would have been planning a funeral. WOW!!! (as I look over at the other end of the couch to my snoring hubby and just sigh...)

Lest you think... "Small town, not too unusual" we're not that small (200K) and unfortunately there have been 3 serious accidents since Friday involving young men.... what are the odds that the correct Lipstickers (there are 8 of us) both decide to ditch work to be at the hospital for our friend, directly after the same weekend that a young man makes a very bad decision (hanging 1/2 outside of a car while videotaping in the backcountry after drinking of course -- the car hit an embankment and then flipped over on top of him) and it just so happens that his mother works for one Lipsticker AND the other Lipsticker happens to be married to one of the team who saved him.
Maybe I'm making too much of it.... but it's kept me thanking the angels today

Life is a funny thing Our friend is now tumor free and the boy is still alive Guy and I enjoyed a wonderful night on the patio and great dinner!

Jerry, we posted at the same time. Thanks for asking. Mom is doing her physical therapy and working hard on getting around on her own...does NOT want outside help if she can avoid it. I think I can sit in on her cardiology consult tomorrow via conference call, although my sister is with her. I'll go down at the end of next week for my shift and try to sort out some more permanent solutions then, when we know more.

I'm really not as grown up as I'm having to be for this.

OK, now I'm REALLY gone. I always look back in here right before I go and get sucked back in...it's YOUR fault I'm late!

ur story brought tears to my eyes. last year my son flipped his car not far from home. he wasn't drinking but i tell him that an angel must have been sitting on his shoulders. flew off the road on a curve and landed in between 2 trees when the area was surrounded by many trees.
glad ur friend has had tumor removed and hte teen has survived.

Hi all!! I'm back for a few minutes...then cleaning and I have got to get this painting done today!!!! I have too much other stuff I have got to be doing...Like starting another painting!!!
I'm going to be pretty much living at mom & dad's for a while now. Things aren't good and they need someone there 24/7. So, today I have to get as much done as I can. I'm already wore out. And in case anyone's wondering...

PS- WooHOOOOOOO on your Bonaire plans!!! Your parents are so lucky to have such a loyal, loving daughter and you are lucky to have them. Please give our BT mom & dad a hug just from me (promise you will - I give really good hugs!).

Elaine- man oh man teen boys. I'm glad that your son is okay. We're going to work on getting the parents up to the airport to meet the crew; especially the medic who rappelled from the helicopter. He's a new firefighter, a young guy and one of the nicest fellows. He made all the right decisions and deserves major kudos for a job well done. Guy said he descended over 100 feet from the helicopter in the dark and it was his first real rescue (other than training during daylight hours).

Kristi- good wishes for your friend. Sometimes life just gets so overwhelming. I'm glad that he's safe.

Debbie- I so want to see pics of your yard and pool party. You do so much work around your yard it must just be GORGEOUS!!! I'm glad that you'll have your whole family around this weekend.

Jerry- you feeling 100%???? Hope so
