One of life's little known secrets....

I hate to forward these things...but this one made me walk downstair's and look for myself...am I the only dumb person out there or has anyone of you ever noticed this before?

I've been using aluminum foil for more years than I care to remember. Great
stuff, but sometimes it can be a pain.

You know, like when you are in the middle of doing something and you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and
start over.

The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time.

Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason
I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it
said, "Press here to lock in."

Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place! How long has this little locking tab been there?
I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I
then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too!

I cannot count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to
cover something up.

Is it me?

No, Meryl, you are not alone. I got this in an email & I forwarded it to my mom. Neither of us had ever noticed this. We now have plastic wrap and aluminum foil that does not come out when we try to get only a foot of it!!:-)
THANK YOU to whoever noticed this and decided to share it many YEARS after driving us crazy!!:-)

I wonder if this has been on the box all along...or is this a "new" addition? That million dollar idea I am always hoping to invent?!

Okay here's one more...your riding down the road and pass a dead skunk to get rid of the smell strike a match. Works on other smells also!!

Don't beat yourselves up on this. Quite frankly I suspect they just began putting the "press here to lock in" inserts on the sides only recently!
So really, THEY are the idiots. The manufacturer of the boxes should have had this designed into their packaging much earlier.

The writing is so small I can't see it. lol I have fought with aluminum foil for years, hadn't read the box in years, either! But when PS sent me that email, I put on my reading glasses, and yes it's there...like the legal wording on a document. :-)

The little push down box thingies to hold the roll in place has been there for quite a few years.

"regarding Reynolds Wrap® Aluminum Foil.

In our continuing efforts to meet the needs of our consumers, our cartons have end locks to hold the rolls in place. This feature was added in 1996. Press in the perforated tabs on each end of the carton before your first use."

Yeah, count me in on that one too. I did go check all of our boxes, and noticed that the tabs are not present on the wax paper.

Well, Boom starts with a Tara --
I'm one of those quiet, shy people who only say something when it's important. :>) Really, read a lot, and then add something when it can add to a conversation.

Grew up in Niagara Falls, New York. Moved to the Annapolis area after college (a very long time ago) and haven't left the area.

Will be on the wonderful island of Bonaire July 5!

I have known this for a while but just thought myself very sad for actually spending time reading things on the end of packaging. It's not so bad to find it by accident like Meryl but I just read c*** :-)
