Did I ever tell you how much I love working seven days a week? Yes it's true, no kidding. Who wants to have a day off or two, what a waste, right?
It's 198 in the shade right now, no wind, bright sunshine, everyone is headed to the beach, water temp 50. Cleaned the fish pond this morning at 8:30 and thought I was going to die.

I mowed the grass yesterday at about 11:30 AM. It was 94 degrees already. Nobody ever said that I am going to win a Nobel Prize in intelligence. I lost a lot of water. I drank a huge amount of water in the afternoon then proceeded to make my new recipe that Lydia's Italian Kitchen taught me last week with some bottles of Toasted Head Viognier. It is a pesto sauce with almonds, basil, tomatoes, garlic, hot pepper, and of course, olive oil. I used shrimp and scallops with it, and I must say everyone REALLY loved it. In fact, I have a little left and I am going upstairs to finish it.

I'll be right over Jim.

I cut my grass at 7:300 last night, no prize for me as well.

well we went shopping, exercised the dogs off lead by the canal and then walked to a local pub for lunch and then worked in the garden. I found two wooden boxes in the store room containing Bordeaux 2002 from a wine run to France two years ago. Jetty should I open now or wait a bit more?

Try one. If it's hard, try another next year.

If you are rich enough to be able to afford first growths, try them in ten years.

I can drink my coffee with you if you're around, Jerry...it's a lazy Sunday for me.

I got a Bonaire Yellow gallon of paint yesterday, but am doubting my taste now...wanted to paint one wall of the bedroom(this is what happens when I have the house to myself for the weekend).

It's 80f here today, beautiful weather. No lawn to mow in drought prone California. We've been waiting til dusk to go get our neighbor's dog and take him for a walk; neighbor had back surgery and can't do it for a bit(wish he were healing up as well as Cynde's Hunny Bunny). Nice to walk around the hills in shorts after dark...

I had to put on a sweatshirt today, I'm freezin my fern!!! The hot weather hasn't come to South Dakota yet, but at least is isn't raining again today. The grass was up to my knees in the back yard (the neighbor mowed the front, bless her heart!) when we returned from Bonaire.

Barbara (CB)
This is what my sister did with some Bonaire Yellow paint. She set out Dive Site marker rocks to greet us when we drove over to her house to spend the night before flying out to Bonaire with her and her husband.

Ah, it didn't come through, but I like the idea!

I haven't painted my wall yet...the cat was snoozing between the bed and the wall, and I didn't want an orange cat. Besides, it was too nice to be indoors...

When I open that can, though. I think I'll paint a rock or two as well!

Post some pictures when you paint your rocks. I have on on my front porch, that way, Teddy doesn't have to move it when he mows the grass.

Makes me homesick for my island.

I'd like to know how many yellow rocks there are lying in people's yards around the world....more than four, I'd bet...

June 9 is the anniversary of the BIG flood back in 1972. Flash floods are common when it rains too much in the Black Hills of South Dakota, it fills the creeks and makes them rise, but nothing like that one!!! Over three hundred people lost their lives, houses, cars and people were swept away in the wall of water that came in the middle of the night. I had a summer job in a tourist town, and lived in a trailer set across the creek from the place I worked. The trailer was never found after the creek took it.

As for recent flooding here, there was some water in basements and such last week because of the rain. The creeks were up. Some of the towns nearby had some neighborhoods with flooding because of the creeks rising out of their banks. My daddy, who grew up in Wyoming, taught me to always live on a hill.

Rapid City has a greenway through the entire city along the creek where building is not allowed any more. It is all parks and bike trails, then the water has somewhere to go when/if it floods again. My office is right on the edge of the flood plain, and has windows on both sides where the creek passes, so we were on 'flood watch' for the nervous ones in the building. There was six inches of water in the parking lot, but it was all rain water rushing towards the creek, not rising out of it.

I know that flood is legend for you Rapid City folk. Funny, my cat's birthday is today, and my Rapid friend said "Can't you pick another day?" because of the flood.

That greenway is a really attractive feature, besides being a safety feature...Rapid did some fast thinking after June 9th in terms of zoning!
