So...I'm the proud owner of a Suunto Gekko. It has made it for 2 dives and I have hope. :-)

Allo, Jerry.

Tribs, That's the computer I use. Got is last year and used it on our Nekton trip to the Bahamas. Thank goodness there was a group of dive masters from a shop in NJ on board. With their help and patience, I finally learned how to use it.

Yep it is a little tricky. Bruce got me started and then I figured the rest out during my first surface interval. I think I like it. Just don't like the HUGE wrist strap.

Tribs a buddy at work make a Gekko into a Viper. He now downloads his dive profiles from his Gekko.

Tribs, I don't like the "ruffley" part of the strap - It make tucking the end in tricky. Is the length of the strap what bothers you? It is long to fit all sizes. I just cut a bunch off, but left enough on for a 5mm ws.

I don't mind the ruffley, but do mind the length and the width. I found a way to tuck the strap. I don't want to cut it until the warranty expires. LOL! :-)

Cecil...how'd he do that?

NO TRIBS, NOT A GEKKO!!! It's not as good of an insurance as the commercials make it out to be. Don't cut the wrist strap - seriously.

Linda, :-)

Tribs, you just go ahead and dive with Gekkos, Iguana's, whatever you can find!! You just dive girl!!!:-)

Home from Lowe's...George is out back now putting up a fence that is high enough that the gopher turtles can get under, low enough that the deer can still come in the yard, and just right to keep Calypso in...I know he's loving it, since I told him EXACTLY how to do it!!! I won't go stand over him, that'll make him think I'm all bossy or something....

We had the BEST lunch!! There's this Mexi\asian\Island restaurant that opened, OH THE ONE THAT HAD ALL THOSE BEES!!! Anyway, we went there and it was SO good!!!! I felt like we had gone to an island!!!! I think we are going back tonite for beers w/ lime and wings!!!!:-)

Tom, my wrist is almost 6" around with my 3mm on. I'd be flapp'n in the breeze and tearing up the reef with the left over.
But for Trib's situation she shouldn't. Is this on a trial run?

Funny thing is the owner of the Yamaha shop was just here in my shop shooting the poop. He just ordered himself the new V-Max. Thing goes 200MPH! YIKES and on two wheels no less LOL!
I asked if they sold Lathe's there....NOPE they don't so I won't linger in their shop...pffft

IT IS NOT WINE TIME yet...dang!

Brad, have fun camping.

Debbie, have fun at work...NOT!

Linda, we have scubapro extenders with the fat strap...won't fit over my dry suit, or my 7mm...so I did what Cecil taught me, zip tied another strap portion so it's long enough. Last year, we got in the water (with 7mm) and i looked down and the puter was gone! Thank goodness we were diving off the boat, and it was in about 15 feet of water. I had it on the last 'hole'...not anymore!

Tribs, what happended to the NEW puter you had brought down????

Jerry, is louise really watching?
HI LOUISE!!!

Hey dudes and dudettes - It's FRIDAY and happy hour on the east coast!

Only 2 chat threads so far - you all wore yourselves out earlier this week!

I did a little shopping today. Got 2 nice outfits that will work well for dinner out on Bonaire! I also bought the girls some stuff for nice vacation outfits. J C Penny had some good sales going on. I love the 50% off stuff!

John's on his way home. Chaos and I just did our usual poop pick up walk around the yard. Sprinklers run on Saturday morning..... we don't want mushed up poop!

I don't have a clue as to what's for dinner, but there was a new take out menu for Chinese in the mail today..... :-)

So how's you evening looking up? :-)

Did I ever tell ya'll that I never learned to type? When I started high school my mother told me I needed to take the commercial courses so that I could get a job after graduating. Well, I'm a stubborn Taurus...... And I insisted on college prep courses. The parents said - 'You're not going to college - we have 8 younger kids than you'. And I said - 'I am too!' And I did, on a combination of scholarships, grants, and student loans.

I refused to take typing because that meant I was going to be a secretary! Who knew computers were going take over our communication skills!

It really gets my goat when people want me to donate to special interest groups because otherwise those kids couldn't go to college - without a free ride. I'm here to tell them that if those kids have the grades and ambition, they'll find a way. I did.

That's why I'm such a slow typer..... I look at all keys! :-)

Tribs this is what I did with mine.

Dive Computer

As shown in cold water mode. I cut the strap for my wrist with a 3mm then I add a section if cold water diving. Which I am doing tomorrow morning, wanna trade?

Now who really has Spam in their pantry?

True story. You all know my rebel, unappreciative daughter moved to Maui......

Well, the first visit home she brought us a Musubi Maker. It looks like Tupperware's hamburger maker except it's the perfect shape of spam.

The instructions say to put seaweed (Nori) on the bottom, a layer of gata (mold) next, then add rice and pack firmly, then a layer of spam, and then more rice to pack down. Then remove the gata (mold) and wrap the Nori completely around. Then slice. Needless to say, this non-stick Musubi make has never been used in our home!

Should I have sent it on with Bob?

Ok...computer saga recap. My baby, the Atmos, perished in a tank falling off the back of the truck incident. The second computer, brought by Carole, and provided by my LDS was an Oceanic Veo and it was eating batteries. I got 14 dives on the first one, 8 dives on the second one, and 2 dives on the third one. The Gekko just completed dive three and is still looking good.

I have a pretty small wrist too, so once the warranty has expired, I will cut it. I never alter anything that is still under warranty so as to not negate the warranty.

We're chilling this evening; INSIDE! TOO darn hot to do much else :-) Even the Yorkies don't want to hang outside too long. We went from 70's to almost 100 in a day. UGH!!!
