Yesterday, as I have since 84, I attended my local ceremony at The Philadelphia Vietnam Veteran's Memorial. It is such a beautiful ceremony honoring the 646 young Philadelphians who never came back from Vietnam alive. Unfortunately, some guy who I met there years ago passed away in December of cancer. That bummed me a bit, as he was a really good guy. I had no idea he passed, as I never read obituaries. I hope everyone on board had a great Memorial Day.

Sorry for your loss, Jim. I guess you just have to cherish those moments with friends and folks you meet along the way cause you never know when it's their/your time.
Glad the ceremony was beautiful.

Jim - it is so wonderful that you attend your local ceremony every year and truly sorry for the loss.

Afterwards, many guys go over to a really cool bar in "Old City" called The Artful Dodger. It is just fun to hang out and catch up on stuff after a year. That is where I found out that this guy passed in December. I always had a good time talking to him after the ceremony. He was a bit older than I and went to the same high school. He just retired from being a CPA for a large firm in Philadelphia.

Jim, you live the life :-)
Guy and I missed the ceremony at the cemetery (it was at 10 not 11 :-() so instead we wandered from headstone to headstone to give respect individually. I have to say it had more impact than year's past, as to how many just in Santa Barbara have made the ultimate sacrifice - from the late 1800's on. We have many to be proud of.

Jim sorry to hear about another vet passing.

Sunday we did a memorial ride in Sevierville started at the courthouse with singing and speakers and with the guest of honor a few of us PGR folks got to let say be his posse' for a bit he was a WWII, Korean, Vietnam veteran from the Navy and he did the wreath and to beat it all on his 87th birthday...it was a hard walk for him because his legs were not as strong as in the past but, his determination to walk the distance never failed with a little bit of support and a couple of stops he made it down the three steps and the 50 feet.

I believe there were about 1500-2000 bikes (my best guess) that pulled out around 11 and with us at the tail end we started out around 11:20
riding to a veterans overlook and had another round of music, speakers, and finally TAPS.

This is not from Sunday but, I hope you folks watch and enjoy. This is why I ride!!!!
