OMG, Jerry a mod? What is going on? Been away the past few days dealing with other stuff and come back to find Jerry went over to the "other" side and is slapping folks already too.

Okay, ya'll will probably get this answer lickety-split and if you listen to CarTalk on NPR you may have already heard the answer but.... yesterday I listened to a podcast from 2 weeks ago and this was the BrainTeaser... I managed to write it down but haven't had a moment to even contemplate it. I'm holding off on listening to last week's podcast till I have a chance to give it a whirl.
I thought some of you might like it too.
Here it is:

A fellow bought a new car but had no one to drive him to the dealership to pick it up. He was not trading in his existing car, so his dilemma was how to get to the dealership and home with two cars.
The dealership was exactly 21 miles North from his home. He drove his old car to the dealership and parked it.
He drove the new car 1 mile South and walked 1 mile North back to the dealership.
He then drove his old car 2 miles South and walked 1 mile North back to his new car.
He drove the new car 2 miles South and walked 1 mile North back to his old car.
He drove the old car 2 miles South and walked 1 mile North back to his new car.
He continued to do this until he was safely home.
The question is how many miles total did he walk? How many miles total did he drive?

I know, I know... I could have worked it out in the time it took me to type this, but I love a good brain teaser and am savoring this until I can really enjoy it

RAY: Here's the answer. He clearly walked 21 miles, right? It would be the equivalent if he had driven up there with his old car and driven the new car home and then walked back up there. He just did it one mile increments.
So he walked 21 miles, and he drove the new car back 21 miles.

TOM: Yeah.

RAY: So most people say, that's 63 total miles. Wrong! Everyone forgets the 21 miles he drove to get up there.
So he drove 21 miles to get to the dealership. And then drove two cars back --

TOM: 21 miles each.

RAY: Which is another 42 miles. Add that to the original 21 he drove up there the first time, 63 miles, and the and then the 21 that he walked, 84 miles, no wonder it took him all day.
