How About:

REMEMBER 1957?

I know some of you are not old enough to remember BUT this list below Was put together in a great way.

The following were some comments made in the year 1957:

"I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, its going to be impossible to buy a weeks groceries for $20.00."

"Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long when $5,000 will only buy a used one."

"If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit. A quarter a pack is ridiculous."

"Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter?"

"If they raise the minimum wage to $1, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store.."

"When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 29 cents a gallon. Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage,"

"Kids today are impossible. Those ducktail hair cuts make it impossible to stay groomed. Next thing you know, boys will be wearing their hair as long as the girls,"

"I'm afraid to send my kids to the movies any more. Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying damn in "Gone With The Wind", it seems every new movie has either Hell or damn in it."

"I read the other day where some scientist thinks it's possible to put a man on the moon by the end of the century. They even have some fellows they call astronauts preparing for it down in Texas."

"Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for $75,000 a year just to play ball? It wouldn't surprise me if someday that they will be making more than the President."

"I never thought I'd see the day all our kitchen appliances would be electric. They are even making electric typewriters now."

"It's too bad things are so tough nowadays. I see where a few married women are having to work to make ends meet."

"It won't be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work."

"I'm just afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business."

"Thank goodness I won't live to see the day when the Government takes half our income in taxes. I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best people to Congress."

"The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on."

"There is no sense going to Lincoln or Omaha anymore for a weekend. It costs nearly $15.00 a night to stay in a hotel."

"No one can afford to be sick any more, $35.00 a day in the hospital is too rich for my blood."

A funny for a Thursday.....

A Polish man whose English is far from perfect married an American girl. Everything was going splendidly until one day he burst into a lawyer's office asking for a divorce arrangement. That depends on the circumstances I need to ask you a few questions first. Have you any grounds for this? asked the lawyer. Yes, an acre and half and a nice little home. No, I meant what is the foundation of this case? It's made of concrete. No, I don't think you understand what I'm getting at. Do either of you have a real grudge? No, we have a carport and don't need one. I mean what are your relations like? All my relations still in Poland. Does your wife beat you up? No, I am always up before her. Why do you want this divorce. She's going to kill me! What makes you believe that? I got proof. What kind of proof might that be? I saw what she bought and put on the new shelf in the bathroom, she is trying to poison me, I can read and it says: "Polish Remover"

How about some airline stuff:::::

On landing the stewardess said, "Please be sure to take all your belongings. If you're going to leave anything, please make sure it's something we'd like to have."
***
"There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only 4 ways out of this airplane."
***
As the plane landed and was coming to a stop at Washington National, a lone voice came over the loudspeaker: "Whoa, big fella. WHOA!"
***

After a particularly rough landing during thunderstorms in Memphis, a flight attendant on a Northwest flight announced, "Please take care when opening the overhead compartments because, after a landing like that, you can bet everything has shifted."
***
As you exit the plane, make sure to gather all of your belongings. Anything left behind will be distributed evenly among the flight attendants.

Please do not leave children or spouses."
***

Overheard on an American Airlines flight into Amarillo, Texas, on a particularly windy and bumpy day: During the final approach, the Captain was really having to fight it. After an extremely hard landing, the Flight Attendant said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Amarillo. Please remain in your seats with your seat belts fastened while the Captain taxies what's left of our airplane to the gate!"
***
Another flight attendant's comment on a less than perfect landing: "We ask you to please remain seated as Captain Kangaroo bounces us to the terminal."

Hugs to HunnyBunny and a few extra just because :-)

Copper Wire

After having dug to a depth of 10 yards last year, New York scientists
found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the
conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than
100 years ago.

Not to be outdone by the New Yorkers, in the weeks that followed,
California scientists dug to a depth of 20 yards, and shortly after,
headlines in the LA Times newspaper read: 'California archaeologists have
found traces of 200 year old copper wire and have concluded that their
ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a
hundred years earlier than the New Yorkers.'

One week later, The'Newport Daily Independent', a local newspaper in
Arkansas reported the following:

'After digging as deep as 30 yards in cotton fields near Jacksonport in
Jackson County Bubba Johnson, a self-taught archaeologist, reported
that he found absolutely nothing. Bubba has therefore concluded that 300
years ago, Arkansas had already gone wireless.'
