Good Morning...I'm questioning my body's "logic" about when to gain and lose this morning....it seems that I can "bounce" in a certain lb. range forever.... I'm wondering if my body is fighting me...... maybe I'm destined to be a mildly overweight person...hmmm...

at any rate...
happy wednesday
I tried to search for "hump day" pics...bad idea...NOT family friendly!

LOL!! Hump Day pics!!LOL

Today I am going to try not to eat ice cream. I'm not being sarcastic, it's just that's what George keeps buying me, and honestly, I feel better when I eat it. Or WHILE I'm eating it! It's a cruel world!:-)

Good Morning Donna, PegiSue and Everyone Else Checking in :-)

Donna - don't get frustrated - it'll happen - sometimes not as quickly as we'd like to see.
The walking & exercise definitely seems to help 'cause when I don't my body tells me & things seems to get a bit tighter.
Hang in there :-)
PegiSue - ice cream isn't all bad :-) Hope you're feeling better :-) :-) :-)

Donna - found 1 family friendly Hump Day pic :-)
Happy Hump Day

Happy Hump Day

Morning Girls! Got a lovely sunny day here today and I am loving it! Donna, don't sweat the scale thing too much, keep on with the healthy eating, sometimes when we go off and eat a bit badly, like over a week-end and then are good for a day, it takes time to show on the scale, I bet tomorrow it will show. I lost 2 more pounds, took a couple weeks, slow and steady, taking it off the healthy way, a lot more slower, but hopefully it will stay off this time. We have about the same to lose Donna, so the race is still on, too early for you to drop out, try to get a walk in today, it's nice in your area too! :-)

Judy, like your hump day pic!

Kids, I have been reading /lurking and gotta say this..you need to do this with someone for real, not just Cyber. Maggie has put on 10# and realized she needed to make changes. I need to shed 15# pounds gained largely hormonal and pinda sauce from Bobbijans and Lovers Ice Cream..haa...

With her motivation and participation in our home, I am finally meeting success.

I was doing Pilates Reformer heavy and nada moved so now I spin 4 days a week, do weight training and some other classes. I cut out sugar, alcohol, most dairy, red meat and pasta and breads and its finally moving. Mercy taught me to eat 6 small meals a day..you should SEE HER...

Email me if you need specifics.

Hey gang its me again, I am probably sounding like a broken record BUT, let me tell you a little story, Last November I decided that I was too heavy, not only was putting on a 2mm shorty suit to teach scuba, but even putting my fins on at the side of the pool was an effort. So November comes I decide to join this program its the only one like it I have ever seen, i tried diets here and there and the weight always came home, this program I was a little skeptical so I looked for down falls guess what there was none, www.bmimedical.ca check it out . Anyways their philosophy is you can eat whatever you what in moderation,as long as you stay active you don't have to be an ultra athlete(unfortunate sideeffect). But the key thing is get active, and eat again in moderation, and eat anything but watch whats in it that your eating, anyhow this is a medically supervised program, I met the dietician she went over what I was eating and guess what I was way under eating and avoiding all the stuff I enjoy beer! wings! etc. you get the picture, anyhow then I had a mets test done by the dietician, found out that I need to take in 2500 calories to live now to live i don't mean just to get through the day, do you toss in your sleep, do you roll over in your sleep do you go to the bathroom etc. the body uses calories to exist and thats the key eat , if your avoiding stuff thinking your doing a great thing guess again, the weight will come back you will probably gain a couple extra but its not about avoiding the stuff we need , we need comfort food we need BEER etc thats what life is about , do you plan on avoiding retirement parties , birthdays family gatherings BONAIRE probably not so we have to do this smarter still eat but do it in moderation, try follow the food planning pyramid veggies, meat, legumes etc you can find it on the net , you want to lower the milk amount the processed sugars, and sodium man thats the worst, anyhow since November 19 my heaviest weight 338lbs never found and bad information on BMI so started their program did all the bloodwork making sure there were no underlying health issues used their trainers 3 times a week at 45 minutes of strength training started just walking 2 km then 4 km and so on now I'm doing 10 kms and even running them still doing the strength train, biking ,etc doing stuff for ME after all I am the most important ME you have to want to do it for YOURSELF and only YOU can do it for YOU. Guys its not about avoiding stuff hell I even had a donut hole the other day and it was so delicious, chocolate yep I have that now as well, as I said in the past it is a lifestyle change that your doing so If i can give anyone a piece of important information ask your doctor if its alright, see if their is a dietician in your area that can do a mets test, start a exercise program if you need a kick find a buddy, I am lucky I am a very determined individual with awesome will power and drive, Man i AM DOING A TRIATHLON I still can't believe it and I am planning my training for another, as well stiil teach scuba, still look for a new job but your starting to see the trend here as busy as our lives get YOU must look after YOU, ONLY YOU CAN DO IT oh yeah haven't weighed myself this month but at the start I was 288lbs and I see the dietician this Friday for another mets test and I figure my weight right now is 283ish find out friday but gang stop being a slave to the scale are you happy with YOU as its YOU that has to live with YOU, big race weekend this weekend I 'll keep you in the loop, talk later.Sorry the test METS TEST i WAS TALKING ABOUT IS RESTING METABOLIC RATE TEST sorry for the misinformation

Hi All, I know it is great to have someone "real" to lose weight with, but no always possible. I have found out that the Suzanne Somers diet books are my way now, I just have to fully stick to it and it is at about 75% right now, this week looking at getting into it 90% as it is a life change for me and I want it to last, not be a fad like others have.

Bob, Thanks for the explanation of METS, went over my head in previous threads. That makes sense now. Bob, You have done a marvelous job in a better healthier you! I wish you luck in your triathlon this week-end! :-) Your program that you posted sounds like a winner! You are living proof.

Annie, glad to hear you are getting the scale to move downwards. Sugar and bad carbs are disasterous for me, so I can only enjoy them now once in a while and I am feeling a lot better since eliminating them, I just need to up the exercise, got a great program that I am starting this week, was supposed to start a while back, but combo/walking/strength training and eating a lot better.

Sounds like we are all on a positive road, keep on trucking gals and guys! Cyber support is also nice to include for those who don't have a "real" buddy to do it with.

It's Hump Day for sure!

I got 40 mins on the tmill - doing a really hard wind sprint run intersperced with lite jogs, I eeked out 3 miles. I walk Rasta for a cool-down and while we were out I ran into one of my neighbors who was already having a really bad day (it was only 7:30am). My heart just broke for her. She had locked herself and two young children out of the house without her car keys, the kids were late for school, she was going to be late for work and she was just melting down. I tried to help her calm down and offered rides to wherever they needed but she decided to walk the kids to school. Probably a good choice - it's a beautiful day and just down the hill. Give her a chance to calm down. I'm going to drop a card and bottle of wine off on her doorstep later today. It gave me a real appreciation for what my mom must have gone through as a single mother of two in the 60's. God Bless all parents who really do try to do the best they can :-)

Any rate... it's been a rollercoaster morning.

Love all the posts (Hello Ann!). I've found that I really need to keep things in small steps. I have a tendency to make things too big and intimidating.

Keep up the good work all - and Run, Bike and Swim Bob!!!!!

Lots 52 lbs. in 14 month.
1. Get control of portion control. "I'll have a whole Bar-B-Q chicken please, and lotsa baked beans". Used to be my battle cry.
2. Chew your food slowly, this help with digestion and you'll feel fuller faster. Taste more too.
3. Sip liquids. No quaffing except for beer.
4. Eat in reverse: Proteins and starches first, salads and fruit last. Ask the Asiatics about this.
5. Drink a whole lotta watta. Flushes toxins from your system. You also burn calories when your body heats the liquid to 98.6F.
6. Get offa you duff. Even a short walk after ingestion helps with digestion and caloric conversion.
7. Reward yourself for good behavior. If you do well for several days, then have a cupcake, but only one.
8. Cottage cheese with sugar-free preserves mixed in is a good substitute for Ice-Cream. Well, OK maybe not really, but it works.
9. Pass the bread - on by. Avoid the Grocery Store aisles where the sugar devils hang out.
10. Dive everyday all day. I've never been able to eat anything underwater - yet. Working on it. Maybe one of those bubble helmet thingies with a candy bar strapped to the interior.

Good luck. The first step is to make the decision to act on your desire to lose weight. The second is to work on it every day, be cognizant of ingestion, explore your relationship with food.

I know, high on the point scale, but, once in a blue-moon.

k

Cuban-style pork, called lechón asado, is seasoned with lots of garlic and oregano. Here, those ingredients permeate the mayonnaise that’s spread over grilled sandwiches.

5 tablespoons mayonnaise, divided
1 1/2 tablespoons chopped fresh oregano
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 (12-oz.) loaf Cuban or French bread (not a thin baguette), halved lengthwise*
3 oz. thinly sliced baby Swiss cheese
6 oz. roast pork, thinly sliced
3 oz. thinly sliced boiled ham
1/3 cup thinly sliced dill pickle

1. In small bowl, stir together 4 tablespoons of the mayonnaise, oregano and garlic. Spread cut sides of bread with mayonnaise mixture. Top with half of the cheese and all of the pork, ham and pickle; top with remaining cheese and other bread half. Spread top of bread with 1/2 tablespoon of the remaining plain mayonnaise. Cut into 4 pieces, pressing down on sandwich to contain filling.

2. Heat panini maker (or ridged grillpan, griddle or heavy large skillet) over medium-high heat until hot. Place sandwiches, mayonnaise-side down, on panini maker; spread top of sandwiches with remaining 1/2 tablespoon plain mayonnaise. Cover sandwiches with foil; weight down with top of panini pan or another heavy skillet.

3. Cook 3 minutes or until golden brown on one side. Turn sandwiches; replace foil and weight. Cook 3 to 4 minutes or until golden brown and cheese is melted.

TIP *Use bread with a crisp crust but soft interior so that it can be flattened with the weight. If your pan is large enough to hold the entire loaf, grill it whole and then cut it afterward.

4 sandwiches

PER SANDWICH: 560 calories, 28 g total fat (8.5 g saturated fat), 30.5 g protein, 46 g carbohydrate, 75 mg cholesterol, 1075 mg sodium, 2.5 g fiber

Boom, you are such a good person. I know after a day like she is having, she will come home and find that and think "My life WILL be ok." And she will smile. It's people like you that kept me going all these years... Thank you:-)

I do that all the time. From now on, everything is little, just make it thru that, then move on to the next...:-)

Awww man.... on my way to the bank, I just stopped by my neighbor's house with flowers and a card... she was already home from work. She is having a really bad day - one of her chickens had just died in her arms. I'm so glad I took the time to stop and give her a hug.

Hugs to everyone else too!

I had a good day but not a great one...foodwise I didn't overdo, but I didn't count either. I ate breakfast out with Amanda, shopped with Amanda, visited a friend who is cleaning out her grandparents house to see if I could use any of the stuff they are getting rid of (I could! :-) )

Exercised tonight. The weather has gotten cloudy. Work again tomorrow...hugs to all!! :-) Keep up the good work. We are doing well!
Hugs to all!!
