Good Morning...I need some "You can do it!" cheers out there...do I hear any???

I'm seriously sick of battling the bulge this morning....this is probably because I took out my summer clothes yesterday and doubt any of them fit and the results on the scale and the size are TOO SLOW!! I have done this before and I know how and I CAN do it again...but...

Lifestyle change...I don't know??? I REALLY like food. Jerry, keep me away from the donut shop!!!

Hey gang looks like everyone is really getting things done Keep it up. Hey Donna you want to be my internet workout buddy? it won't be easy but it will be steady. We'll email workouts what we did and what we should have. I can't ever stress that its not a diet we are made to eat we are made to move, we just have to develop a strategy to "MOVE" if you don't eat you won't move its like the gas in your car if you don't have enough you just ain't go to make it the body needs gas. As I have stated I started in November last year I wasn't eating enough had lack of energy, lack of desire to get out there and do something after work, went to a dietician had a sit down with her, with the Doctor, they checked my blood work for any problems, that was ok, they checked my Basal rate (what it takes to get the body just to function) 2500 calories I was taking in nowhere near that and what I was taking in was ok but still lousy ( cut milk way back we don't need anywhere near the amount they say, stay away from the juice boxes way too much sugar, watch what you take in in salt there is more that enough in our prepared food try keep any prepared food below 400mg, keep sugars below 3 or 4 grams really watch the ingredients in the food sugar should not appear in the first 2 lines of the ingredients, just watching those few things keep the complex carbs up the food guide will then show the way snack 3 times daily, meals 3 times daily and don't skip anything you will miss or the weight is coming back, PM me and I can go further, but that bikini and summer wardrobe will be back before you know it but "EAT", and "MOVE YOUR BUTT" and "LIVE EACH DAY" SHOULD BE MOTIVATING !YOU! everyone should follow these things it makes life much more fulfilling, tomorrow is weigh day for me and I expect I will have attained my monthly goal can hardly wait to make next months target to aim for.OK now I'm pumped for the day biked 17 kms to work again this morning, have yourselves a great day gang

Morning all,
PS gonna have to spell Dona's name like this now. I cannot do without the other N.. it is a "food group" in my daily diet.
Everything in moderation...(except after 5pm!) I must admit that was just my breakfast! :0
I am gardening all day...so it will shed itself from my body in about an hour...75 degrees today!

Bob, I love your motivational messages!! I know all the things you mentioned above are true, and I stick to it most of the time, but I do need a kick in the pants from time to time. Thanks for the motivation!!!!

I want to add my thanks to Bob too. What a great philosophy, although I doubt my basal rate is anywhere near 2500 calories. I try to be concientious about eating enough good food and have two big snacks of yogurt and fruit one in the afternoon and one before bed. I'm pretty active, but should be more so. I resolve to take a brisk walk today, even though the workers are coming to install gas lines through my sewing room...aargh. Must avoid chocolate---my downfall.

PS, PegiSue have you tried the Healthy Choice caramel ice cream sandwiches? They are a good indulgence that's not too sinful. I'm satisfied with one of those when Steve is gobbling ice cream.

Speaking of ice cream, I like to freeze peeled very ripe bananas, then eat them, very close to the real thing!!! Only 90-100 cal per banana.

This can be done on a grill as well.
SALMON FILET WITH MANGO CILANTRO SALSA

4 6-ounce portions salmon filet

Mango Cilantro Salsa:

1 ripe mango, peeled and ½-inch diced
¼ cup chopped scallion, green part only
¼ cup diced red bell pepper
1 tablespoon finely diced fresh jalapeno
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
1 small clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil

Bake salmon filet at 400ºF for 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the thickness of the salmon. For Mango Cilantro Salsa, lightly toss all ingredients in bowl. Chill in refrigerator for at least 1 hour for flavors to meld. Serve salsa as an accompaniment to salmon. Mango Cilantro Salsa also goes nicely with grilled meat or chicken.

Serves 4, adjust as needed.

Serve a chilled white wine.

Hi Gang!
Great thread, I just love when everyone tries to help each other. It's amazing the mountains that can be moved :-)

My cooking class on Tuesday was good - Crab & fennel salad, roast chicken on a bed of potatoes & garlic, braised fava beans (totally yummo!), finished with magdalenas with fresh lemon curd. We've talked our teacher into to doing a class where we start at the Farmer's Market, shop together and then spend the afternoon cooking :-) :-) That's what I'm talking about!

Exercise.... it's an up/down thing with me. I absolutely LOVE to work out but if I don't do it first thing in the morning... it aint gonna happen. This past week seems that I've been busy right from the start in the AM. I only did one run on the treadmill (I like to get 3 days on the tm) and my 3 days at the gym. I keep track of what I do on a calendar and days that I DONT do anything I mark in RED. It's a really good visual to keep from letting too many days go by without MOVING! Two days in a row stands out like quite the sore thumb!

Tomorrow my walking group and I are heading up to Monterey to participate in a 10.6 mile walk in the Big Sur International Marathon. There will be plenty of exercise between walking through the aquarium and shopping and dining... then Sunday we walk, walk, walk :-) :-)

Okay, gotta get lots done today - it's Friday for me :-) :-)

Oh and, one of our girls won't be with us this year as her Aunt just passed away yesterday so we will have a special moment for Aunt Bobbie and take photos for her burial ceremony. She had been to a few of our gatherings so we adopted her. I can't think of a better place to honor someone than an overlook in Big Sur.

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but a few months ago I started a 3-ring binder with all the recipes I've printed from here (and from other places too). I must say I've got quite a collection from BT!!! And I've tried many of them.... so far not a booger in the bunch!

Thanks for sharing!
