Because we've all discussed how we shouldn't be "on a diet" but lifestyle change is in order, I decided to look up the dictionary definition of diet to try to help change our mind set a bit...our diet needs to be #1 or #2 and become #4....just the selection of healthy foods we NORMALLY eat...Our diet! (now to practice what I preach, that's another story!)

–noun
1. food and drink considered in terms of its qualities, composition, and its effects on health:
2. a particular selection of food, esp. as designed or prescribed to improve a person's physical condition or to prevent or treat a disease
3. such a selection or a limitation on the amount a person eats for reducing weight
4. the foods eaten, as by a particular person or group:
5. food or feed habitually eaten or provided
6. anything that is habitually provided or partaken of
–verb (used with object) 7. to regulate the food of, esp. in order to improve the physical condition.
8. to feed.
–verb (used without object) 9. to select or limit the food one eats to improve one's physical condition or to lose weight
10. to eat or feed according to the requirements of a diet.
–adjective 11. suitable for consumption with a weight-reduction diet; dietetic: diet soft drinks.

I wish a happy, healthy day to all and for those of us who need and want it, may weight loss be a resulting natural benefit! :-)

Thanks to these threads, I'm getting back on track with good eating habits. About 4 weeks ago I started sneaking in a little more sugar (no harm), then more (still no harm), then I missed a few aerobic classes. Now look at me.
Again, Donna, thanks for the inspiration.

It sure is quiet this morning! Well I'll be away from my computer for most of the day. Our job today is to clean out the Foundation's cage in storage. The Foundation is the department I work for at the blood bank. All of our Gala and Golf stuff has been "stuffed" in this locked area and really needs to be cleaned out. This will be more exercise for me.
Later!!
Linda

Very quite - today is supposed to be a 4 mile walk...let's hope so - NO - I will MAKE it so. Has been a decent eating day so far. I stayed away from trying a Chick-Fil-A chicken biscuit for breakfast because I told myself the truth (since it's a biscuit and the chicken is breaded and fried I would probably ummm - ummm - well let's just say it wouldn't stay in the pouch very long and would come back the way it went in). So I had a transitions bar - 17G or protein, 4.5 grams of fat and 190 calories. Much better option. It will be beans and cornbread for lunch - now if they have stewed tomatoes watch out - I'm having those too.

Don't know yet what dinner will be but I'm hoping to make bourbon and peach glazed chicken. This takes al of 10 minutes to make - no kidding - just 10 minutes. That, some couscous and asparagus, green beans or cauliflower it's a wrap baby!

Be happy and healthy everyone. And you are correct Donna - diet is simply the foods we eat - we've just gotten it associated with limitations and restrictions...and it isn't always that way.

Thanks everyone for your kind words...I'm glad we are here to support one another!

I had a good diet day today...intended to walk after dinner because it's BEAUTIFUL here today, but wound up on the phone because my step-mom is in the hospital! :-( If I'm being told the truth, she just has an infection and may be home tomorrow, but she's VERY tired and weak and the infection is probably the same peritonitis she had before which caused them to find the cancer :-(

Anyhow....thanks again to all :-)
