Good Morning, Good Morning (said in a sing-songy kid's song sort of way!). It seems no one was the diet thread after I came home from work last night, so I'm gonna paste my post below...
Hey everyone...thanks for your input and jumping back on board...

Eileen...all I can say is WOW!! I lost 80 lbs with WW in about 1 1/2 years and have taken 2 years plus a little to put 30 lbs back on...for this chick who has been fat her entire life, that's really not THAT bad, but I HAVE to get it going back in the right direction...I've come too far to blow it now...

Anyhow...portion control, sensible eating, etc... are the right idea for me. I know I have to keep my protein and fiber up and my sugar down, but I also have to count points because I don't have enough self-control to stop eating unless I do....

I had a good first day....and if I didn't blow it at work, I shouldn't blow it at home tonight.

Exercise does help bunches...can't wait for the warmer weather...in the meantime, I'll try to use the stuff I have in the house to get myself moving.

Lraz...your belly fat comment made me laugh and I know EXACTLY what you mean!!

Oh and Liz...what is Ezekiel 4:9 bread?????

So....since then I have looked up the bread on-line...where do you buy such a thing?? Health Food store, perhaps??

Eileen and Debbie, I am interested in hearing more about the Suzanne Sommers Diet....Eileen, could you give us an example of what you would eat in a day? Don't want to "steal" from Suzanne....just get an idea of what the diet is like...

I did good yesterday, even did 45 min of exercise (cycling while on the phone)....I wish everyone a good, healthy, happy day!!!

GREAT JOB DONNA!!!!

I was pretty busy so it was a good day. Today - well - I won't go there but it's only been 3 bites of something and I think the rest will have to be thrown out or I'll eat it.

Busy day lined up today and we (hubby and I) are scheduled for a 3 miles walk this evening so all systems are go!!!!

Now what to make for dinner.

Donna - In my area, I can get the Ezekiel bread at some (but not all) of my local Pick n Save stores (big box grocer), as well as the organic grocery store. It is kept in the freezer section, rather than the bread section, so look there.

It seems to last a long, long time (compared to regular bread) when stored in the fridge.

Hey Donna, basically it is eating all the food groups, but not all at the same time. Sugar, though, is not allowed. You can eat protein and veggies at one time, but no carbs with them. It takes some adjustment on what to eat and when, so a little planning is involved. But no limits when you are eating or measurements. Saying good bye to sugar is tough, though you can eat some after losing the weight you want and in moderation. Total change of eating to healthier eating. I can still enjoy a burger with bleu cheese and bacon, just no roll, I can eat tunafish with mayo, but no bread - I can enjoy a steak with mushroom sauce and veggies, just no carbs. For breakfast, I can eat oatmeal, or, shredded wheat, puffed wheat cereal, or go for eggs w/bacon, and carbs meals can include rye bagels, brown rice, Whole wheat pita bread, or pasta. You can even enjoy cheese, but not on bread.
You really gotta read the book to get the idea of the whole thing to incorporate in daily eating and then after a week or so, it should come natural as to what to eat with what and what not to combine with what. So, in a nutshell, you would be eliminating sugar and lowering carb intake to a healthier level. Increasing protein, veggies and fruit. You can use Splenda or something like that in some things, but not a lot. She also has a thing called SommerSweet, I haven't ordered it yet, still not sure on that or Splenda which I use now.

All I know is what I eat now is perfect for what not to eat or munch on. It is just so easy to grab and run out the door with.
