Well, we are here in San Antonio! Went to Riverwalk last night...and it's beautiful, but wow...tons of people. It reminds us of disneyland...lol!

Talked to Dylon last night and he's very excited to see us this morning. We can't wait either. I asked him what the first thing he wants to do off the base, he said "eat the biggest steak in texas" lol! He said the food is "good" but you don't get time to eat it...lol! I told him that's why his dad "conquers food"...coast guard boot camp never left him...

Ok, gotta get ready, pictures to come!

Oh, kathy, we are on the San Antonio river, and there are TONS of teeny weeny baby ducks. I thought of you, and now know why you love your ducks and birds (specially the babies) so much. I'll get pictures...there was one with 9, and they were teensy!

BC. Can't wait for pictures and more news later.
You reminded me that I haven't see any baby ducks yet this spring. I usually see them in bunches trying to keep up with Mom while I'm walking in the mornings.
Have a great day with Dylon!!

Welcome to San Antonio!

I had to laugh when you said that the Riverwalk area reminded you of Disneyland. Be glad you are not going to be here in a couple of weeks for the Final Four...it really will be busy then.

Enjoy your stay in beautiful San Antonio and your visit with your son and please tell him I said thank you for his service.

P.S. If he is able to go to the Spurs game on Friday night post and let me know where he will be sitting...we have seats 3 rows behind the Spurs bench and will be going upstairs (to the economy seats) and giving two of our tickets away to two lucky servicemen/women. Who knows...maybe it can be him.

oh, Lynda, on the news last night they were talking about the fact that they are closing I35 today for repairs...the biggest problem are folks leaving the ATT center for the game today, and Sunday:-(

Final 4, funny, the driver of the Hertz shuttle bus from the airport was saying the same thing, that when the final 4 is here, he didn't know if they would have enough cars to rent, or parking places to put them...lol! I can only imagine what the riverwalk will be like then.

We have reservations at the Texas Land and Cattle Steakhouse early tonight to take him for his "big steak." Hope it's good!

Sorry that Dylan won't be at the Spurs game...I am sure he will enjoy the Rampage game tomorrow night. I'm not too worried about the closing of IH35 as it will start at 8:00 tonight which is after we get to the game...we will just take a long detour after the game to avoid the area....forgot about the game on Sunday....guess we will just have to take a long detour to and from the game. :-(

Enjoy your steak at Texas Land and Cattle. We haven't eaten there in a while because there are sooooo many good steakhouses in S.A....not to mention Tex-Mex. Speaking of Tex-Mex hope you get to enjoy some before you leave.

I know you are proud of Dylan. Enjoy your time with him and thank him from me for his "service".

It was a proud day for sure...i have lots of pics:-) He got in trouble yesterday (a "hat issue") and lost base pass right after retreat in the morning...so it was a disapointing day for all. He did lose 2 hours off town pass today and tomorrow, so no hockey game tomorrow night. We managed to get him to downtown SA for steak. Lynda, it was "ok"...but I wouldn't put it on your hot list...a lot of "dust" on things...lol...although dylon thouroughly enjoyed it!

Ineresting is the looks you get from folks...either it's the "hate" or "thank you" look...reminds me of vietnam in a way if you know what I mean...but we were BEAMING the whole time!

Boy, not having been old enough to remember vietnam... I just don't understand that whole hate thing.
You can hate war and disagree with the administration but that has nothing to do with the service men and women. Especially in this country of all volunteer personnel.

Do you feel any different being a Military Mom???
:-) :-)

Michael and Dylon look marvelous! And WOW! Dylon has turned into a proud young man right before our eyes!
And as Boom stated, you can hate war and all it stands for but the young men and women serving our country should have a special place in all our hearts, they are risking their lives on a daily basis so we don't have to, thanks to ALL of them!

I posted some pics on msn pictures, let me know if you have problems accessing it. For some reason, I had to change the last one's to gifs to get them to load, but it messed up the colors...lol...I'll try to fix them later when I get more time.

In the last pics, Michelle is Dylon's mom, and Scott is his step-dad. We actually had a good time with them, and got along great. It's so nice to have called a truce, and ended the 15 year war!

OK, I totally missed this thread because of the title. That boy is looking good in the hood. I am happy that the USAF still has that whole discipline thing. I know it must have been disappointing for you guys, but it was a good thing too. Tim and two of his buds got nailed two weeks ago for an infraction and did not get liberty for 6 hours after everyone else. Cynde, you guys look GREAT!!!!

Awe, Jim, thanks for the compliment:-) I have to tell you I bought a "Air Force Mom" t-shirt, license plate frame, yellow ribbon for my car, pictures, sweatshirts...Dylon was laughing at me...but I know it made him feel good:-)

On the hat, he walked into the building after retreat with his hat on...got busted...got flustered and walked outside with it off...busted again....they told him to go say goodbye to his family....we were all crushed and he was VERY scared he wouldn't graduate...it was a stressful few hours for us all. they also took his coin, as of sunday afternoon, not sure if he got it back.

There were a couple of guys in his flight that got recycled for screw ups...so they are still very strict about it....
