Bon Dia all. Just get me through the next 9 days, please. The sn0w is melting fast with torrential rains, it's just like Hillary though, it will be back and it's not done yet (unfortunately in both cases).

Here's some more porn for Cynde.

The river behind our house is VERY high. Can't imagine what the snow pack up north is like with all the rain!

Puppy drool is very good as a skin moisturizer and the applicator can't be beat:-)

Unless you are trying to keep your feet wet, galoshes won't quite cut it right now. Hip waders on the other hand are in style.

The rivers are being watched. We lost a lot of our snow yesterday. Fortunately, last night we enjoyed rain which turned to ice then snow, turning back to rain/freezing rain this morning. Schools are closed today, I think my children are very depressed because of it.

Jeanine, let's not be judgemental my friend. That person should not be in front of ANY fence.

Okay folks, I was sitting here with my Neph-dog Pete on my lap (pretending to work) when it occurred to me the real reason I always liked bigger dogs - their breath is sweeter most of the time. After studying on it for a while I have arrived at the reason behind this strange phenonemon.

WOW PETER, EAT A MINT ALREADY!!!

Jerry, I think your face needs to be on that body...photoshop help please <<evil>g r i n>

I had an exciting drive to work today. As I was coming down the "big hill" by our house, I saw white smoke...came around the corner and there was a big work truck, by the smoke, I thought it was a tar truck...thought to myself, "I hate those things they stink" as I drove by, I saw the smoke was from FLAMES coming out from underneath the truck. Three "workers" had a fire extinguisher on it, but by the size of the flames, that ain't gonna do it.

So I pull over, call the fire department all excited like...(it was exciting)...THERE'S A TRUCK ON FIRE ON PACIFIC ISLAND....OMG...THERE'S A TRUCK ON FIRE ON PACIFIC ISLAND....OMG...THERE'S A TRUCK ON FIRE ON PACIFIC ISLAND....OMG....

OK, I wasn't that excited. I realize now all that Coast Guard Aux training was worth something...know what to do in an emergency and stay calm.

So I get out of my car, one of the "workers" asks to use my phone, I tell them I've called the FD. In the seven minutes it took for the FD to get there, the truck was fully engulfed in flames and things were exploding. At one point, one of the "Workers" started to walk toward the truck and I calmly told him that was not a wise move. He took my advice.

Kudos to the Laguna Niguel FD...they had that thing out in about 10 mintues...Boom, I thought of Guy:-) I have pics on my phone but will have to download them later.

I'm counting on it Jerry :-)
Cynde - good for you on keeping your cool. That day I called 911 for the dog that fell, I wasn't as cool as I wanted to be... I totally forgot that cell phone 911 calls don't go to the local center; they go to the CA Highway Patrol and then the highway patrol contacts the local rescue. So when I was giving the location I used local terms and names (like Hendry's Beach which is officially Arroyo Burro Beach but nobody calls it that). A bit burdensome but gives you a real perspective on how fast your local response really was.

Just for stopping to help the "workers" not kill themselves! as they tried to put out a large truck fire with a fire extinguisher..and walking toward a fire engulfed truck...
There's the 5 o'clock news story...!

Boom, I have to admit I did call 911 first (so now I need to program the FD in my cell) and they transferred me to the FD dispatch, so when they kept asking for the cross street, I didn't have one as there aren't many, and the FD is about a half a mile away on the other side of the hill...so I had to drive a little ways to find a cross street for them...

By the time I was done with the FD, and drove back up to the fire, there were two other bystanders. One young gal had an extinguisher and she looked like she was ready to take it on...I just looked at her and said "that won't do any good, you don't want to go near that thing now."...what's odd, is that the three workers, nor the two other bystanders had thought to call the FD...DOH!

Meryl, this was a LARGE fire extinguisher, larger than the one's we have on the boat. I don't know fire extinguisher size, but it was big. She was driving a Lexus...I also wondered about the heat factor, and wondered why she had such a LARGE fire extinguisher in her car...lol..the other older man had a dinky one, wouldn't have put out a cigarette...

I remember one time when I looked in the back seat of my car I had two gallons of oxidizer (hydrogen peroxide for my pool), a full scuba tank and two gallons of gasoline. If my car had caught fire, there would have been a big boom and a big crater and Al Qaeda would have been blamed.

PS- it took me a while but I finally figured out the SPAM connection :-)

BC- a while ago I got sidetracked listening to different YouTube versions of that song. After about the 5th artist it dawned on me that I was listening to the same song over and over but it was still so cool.

Jerry- put some undies on that dummy :-)

Okay all you "Allelujah" fans, I have not heard a version of Allelujah I did not like. Here is the way it was sung by its' creator, the great Leonard Cohen:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rf36v0epfmI

his lyrics:

LEONARD COHEN LYRICS

"Hallelujah"

Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Baby I have been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you.
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

There was a time you let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
The holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light
In every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though
It all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah

You may find guitar tabs and chords to many of Leonard Cohen's (and others) works at:

Here is John Cale's version which greatly influenced Jeff Buckley when he did his moving rendition: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckbdLVX736U

and my favorite version, by Allison Crowe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIMOdVXAPJ0

Good evening kids.
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
