Here's a serious WHOA!!!!.

I remember a Whoa moment once when we were trying to land in New Orleans between super cells. I'm looking out the window at the towering clouds thinking about the forces that make them so tall compared to the forces of the jet engines, the equation did not balance. Fortunately at that same moment the pilot agreed and aborted the landing. It cost me a miserable night at an airport in Texas but we all survived.

I saw that on the news this morning!!

A friend of mine is a commercial pilot. One of the givens, unlike what most people think, is that you are safer during takeoff, with the full engine thrust behind you, than you are landing, when you have throttled back.

Regardless, be it cross winds, or traffic on the ground, pilots are trained to be prepared to question and compensate for air traffic controllers decisions. When in doubt......gun the engines and haul arse!!

Luckily, the pilots skill saved the day.....and DID NOT cause the problem!! The ATC however, should have HIS arse hauled on the carpet!!

I think we need to go back to the old days, remember Cynde's Sandbox? Mondays have become way too slow. We all need to jump-start Mondays, more coffee, more fun, less time spent under the desk.

I'm game. I behaved better when we had specific lessons for specific days; ya know like cross stitch or basket weaving :-)

We can push the envelope a bit; the mods are all here ~> donuts?
Well that's itty bitty but it says DONUTS really big on the building LOL!

It's OPEN WIDE DAY eeek

George Washington's dentist invented the first "dental foot engine" in 1790. (He used his mother's foot-treadle spinning wheel to rotate the drill). Today, dental drills are turbine-powered and rotate about 300,000 revolutions per minute. This means less time in the dentist's chair - and aren't we glad!

Freddie,

I'm having a root canal done next week! Thank you for sharing!! How did we go from airline mishaps, to dental hygiene in this thread? Is there a common link I have missed?

I think dental visits should be off limits on this board!! I come here for relaxation, and not to research procedures from the 1700's. I bet you enjoyed telling ghost stories around the campfire too, didn't you??

Frighten the little kids...have a few laughs, etc. You're a real pal!!

OK back on subject, Cynde's playbox, I got the long skis (cross country) out this weekend and spend some quality time in woods behind the house. Covered about a quarter of it in 6 miles travelled.

Real good around my house, now my town is another deal. I know we are going to flood this year, they are saying there's something like 8-10" of rain in the snow pack, if it all melts at once, stand by.

A while back we were talking about the trash accumulation in the Pacific and I was thinking that is where a few houses in NH ended up last year. Even if we stop all dumping of garbage into the oceans, there is still a massive amount of accidental dumping like the several houses in the flood plains of NH in the next month or so.

Cecil, it never made sense to me that anyone would build in a floodplain or on the beach on stilts. What used to cornfuse me even more was when the government would finance the rebuilding of those homes (some vacation homes) in the exact same spots.

Hey Jerry, I am with you on hoping for a drier spring. Officially the store was closed today but since we were here catching up I opened the doors and turned on the lights. Pam and I are glad I did:-) KA-CHING, KA-CHING!!!

Hmmmm. :-)

For the last 2 days I've walked around Lake Fantasia. Got some new sketchers today, and did fast walk and felt GOOD. I'm sure it's at least 1.5 miles or more, wish I knew! Going to do crunches after dinner, too.

Sorry, eating chikin again tonight. :-) No gourmet, just "eating out of the way". I love gourmet, but I've gotta get in dive/swim shape.

Summer's on in FL. 87 said the car outside temp gauge on the way home. Got home and walked, and after walking it was sunset and time to cook. Forgot to smoke!

Anyway, hope you all are doing well and are aspiring to something. Goals make us better!

Oh, and I signed up for classmates.com. OMG! I did good, I guess, by being a skinny chick/smartie/artist/gymnast who didn't fit any molds in HS but made it anyway. I'm good now. lol Proved that at the last reunion when I jumped into the splits at the "call to the front". :D

One classmate and her hubbby run a theme park in Kissimie, gonna hook up. All the divers are checking me out, and I check them out, and it's something in the works. Who knew, back then, that we'd be here now? None of us.

Have a good night all. Was a perfect day here.

Tom & Seb thanks for the tip on the oven part... I will definitely do that.
My evening went well. The weather was nice enough to have appetizers on the patio and then move inside for dinner and dessert.
just love hanging by the fire pit
All that fun and I was still snuggled up in bed by 10:45 - can't beat that :-)

Tara, it is our pleasure. Hate to see quality appliances recycled before they have to be.

Patio? You can actually see your patio? thhhhhhhhpfffffffttttt:-)

Only kidding, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of spring to put in our walks and patio. Benny and I recycled the bricks from the big fireplace which was in our camp (where we built our new home) and will be using them for these projects.
